  1. i can tell you who it WON'T be
  2. haha, this is the ONE guy strahan will be pissed to see take his place
  3. welcome back fbomb, the traffic here is less than ideal but the quality of discussion is a lot better--even our trolls are better
  4. braun strikes again i love that guy. if pence was still healthy i'd have the NL all-rookie team with him braun and gallardo
  5. when i heard we trade linebrink to the brewers i was hoping we were getting back gwynn i dont see where he fits in if they like hart so much. maybe they'll trade hall or something
  6. if you can't do well in the pads bullpen, you can't do well in any bullpen. but i agree, we needed some prospects. but if im the brewers i never trade a top 100 prospect and two lefties for a guy who at best will be pitching the 7th inning
  7. im thrilled. at first i wasn't when all we got was pitching prospects, cuz i wanted to trade linebrink for someone who could help us now, but it looks like thatcher will be the main lefty out of the pen and i was impressed with what i saw last night
  8. they already have turnbow and cordero, so at best linebrink will be their 7th inning guy. they gave up thatcher, who made his major league debut last night and pitched a perfect inning. he's a lefty reliever who gets righties and lefties out. he had a 2.05 era this season in double A. he can easily turn out to be better than linebrink had been this season--which automatically makes this a win for the pads even before we consider the other two pitching prospects. they also gave up inman who came into this season as one of baseball america's top 100 prospects. he was their best prospect now that braun and gallardo are in the majors. last year he was 10-2 with a 1.71 era and like 30 more k's than innings pitched. the year before that he was 10-0 with a 2.00 era. he's only 20 years old and this other dude garrison--who i dont know anything about--he's a lefty starter and also 20 years old. all this for a 7th inning guy who's done?
  9. i agree with you, i think ali's the best ever. i'd put marciano 2nd though
  10. if im a yankee fan this is the most fun season i've had in years. for a while now i've seen a lot of yankee fans not care about the regular season at all and just focus on the postseason from april on. pennant races are a real thrill
  11. why couldn't this have happened LAST week :brooding:
  12. he's still young though, howard had a ton of holes in his swing too
  13. well it's a done deal now that pence is on the DL for six weeks. braun's 3-4 1 hr, 2 runs, 2 rbi 1 steal today
  14. nice, i lost chris young and gorzelanny to injuries in consecutive days
  15. MAYBE he can be the third best in the division
  16. it's not a race thing, the guy was undefeated. but it's not crazy that ali is #1 either, i'd say the majority of boxing fans would put him 1
  17. they'll at least get the wc. cleveland will fade down the stretch again--especially if they honestly think borowski is their closer and dont upgrade
  18. years before his steroid days i spent many lunch periods arguing with most of my fans that bonds was a) better than griffey and b) best player in baseball. i was a big strato fan and bonds' cards always blew griffey's cards away
  19. Herc

    Wow

good shit, now do it two more times and we'll hold up our end of the bargain
  20. the switch was made two games too late. he went from 'ok he sucks but not killing us' to 'ok he cost us those last two games'
  21. i know he wasn't brought in to light a fire under eli, i was talking about eli and referred to him 'good enough to light a fire' under the current starter. warner's play as a giant is indefensible, they had a winning record in spite of him
  22. the last time we had a good enough qb to 'light a fire' under our starter he played like a bitch and took sacks instead of throwing the ball cuz he didn't want to turn the ball over and lose his job. i've erased his name from my memory but his wife looks like alice from the brady bunch
  23. he could play for my team of gangstas anytime
  24. so what do you think he hits with the braves the rest of the season? .385? .390?
  25. to be honest i always liked bell. money could attest to this if he was still around. power hitters are too expensive for the pads--adrian gonzalez is the perfect hitter for that ballpark. though that's not to say i wouldn't have liked adam dunn on this team either. we have a bunchof guys with low averages and high k rates, he'd fit right in
