I hated to see him go. He wasn't great, but he gave us a chance to win the games he was in. I'd be surprised if a team didn't try to pick him up. There are a lot worse pitchers making rosters.

Possibilities with me are Howard and Nieves. Howard was a steal in the Womack trade, and since he plays both infield and out, he could easily take Crosby’s spot. Nieves has a great glove, and seems to have a great rapport with the pitchers. His weakness is his arm, but from what I’ve seen, Stinnett’s isn’t any better. I don’t see any pitching coming north for a couple of months, but I’m sure there will be when the Yankees give up on a couple of vets.

Imo, it depends mostly on a suspect pitching staff. There’s high hopes for Bennett. Glavine still pitches well enough, although he has to put up more wins. Pedro, of course, is the ace. But then what? It looks like they have a pretty decent bullpen except they might have to raid it for a couple of more starters. I don’t see much future for Zambrano unless he can do something in relief. They do have a better than fair defense, and should put up more runs, especially if Reyes can learn to get on with more consistency.
