  1. I know he's lost games before, but this is different. These guys are hitting ropes against him whereas he used to lose them with little bloopers or dribblers. Until they can cure what's wrong with him, they better take him out of the closer role. This is getting effin serious.
  2. Yeah, and they can't call up Thompson because he also has a pulled hamstring.
  3. Because of the Yankee injuries, my paper picks the Mets. I say the Yankees 2 of 3. How about it?
  4. Kazmir is a long way from humble, and that's what I like about the kid. As to why he was traded, I still think it was the Latino thing.
  5. The Rangers do seem like a better team the way they're putting all their hits together. It gives them an explosive line up, but I really don't see them keeping it up all season.
  6. I know Reese is a solid all around minor leaguer, but that's all he is, a minor leaguer. Bring up someone with more potential, like Kevin Thompson. With our pitching staff letting in about one less run per game over last year, we can take the gamble.
  7. I've never been a great Posada fan, mostly because he's always been too laid back for a catcher. But this year he seems to be taking charge behind the plate, and his bat has come alive just when we need it most with Matsui and Shefield out.
  8. You might be right saying Kay is afraid for his job, but boring? Uh, uh! The Mets announcers are boring. And, btw, his Centerstage show is one of the most entertaining sport shows on TV.
  9. Mariano seems to be lacking arm strength, and the only way I know of getting it back is put him in a game where he’d get a high pitch count of at least 50 or preferably more. I think his location problem would improve with more consistent use.
  10. It was too long ago. I don't remember it, but it was probably windy. I don't agree with you about MK. I think he gives credit to both sides more equally than most home town announcers. What kill me about him is his "Deep to left!"... when the outfielder has to move in for the ball.
  11. There's nothing subtle about Shef. I hope he doesn't spread that attitude through the clubhouse. He'll be lucky to find a team, talking shit like that.
  12. Classic, Motes. Where the hell did you find that?
  13. So Cal, why was this thread unpinned? It ain't over yet. Joey 4 rings got lucky last night after putting Sturtze in in a tight game and A-Rod actually taking one for the team.
  14. I'm in agreement simply because A-Rod wasn't the MVP of the Yankees. I can think of 4 Yankees who were more deserving of that, namely Jeter, Giambi, Matsui, and Shefield.
  15. What are you saying, that pitches thrown in the minors don't count as pitches thrown?

    Not fair

Ex Sox players that went to the Yankees and did well: The Babe, Wade Boggs, Roger Clemens, and Damon. Who did the Sox get from the Yankees? Mike Torres, who gave up the home run to Bucky Dent to seal their own doom.
  17. Right now, he has speed, so LB could be an option. If he bulks up, you can even use him inside. I see his long arms batting down a lot of passes.
  18. There's no need to baby them. Read my other post on it. Your Mets were never afraid to bring up young players, btw.
  19. Yep! If he wasn't a local, he'd have been rode out on the rails on a poker. He'll make the HOF on Georges money because the Yankees win 100 games a year despite him.
  20. Hughes was promoted to AA Trenton. Great news! He's on his way. Straightman, I thought you were keeping us informed on this stuff. :brooding:
  21. B because it helped fill some pressing needs. I'm hoping we have at least 3 keepers, Kiwanuka, Moss, and Colfield. sp
  22. Thinking about it, Kiwanuka makes sense. I don’t know the player, but reading about his strengths and weaknesses, I think it’s what the doctor ordered to start replacing an aging Strahan. He sounds like a good sack man which we’ve been lacking lately. Yeah, I know the pros are different from college, but he will learn to counter the moves against him. After all, he’s the grandson of a former Ugandan premiere.
  23. You mean, when Boston went on to lose the '86 WS.
  24. The Rays let Boston come back last night. They were in something like a 2 for 19 RISP slump. That's Yankee numbers.
  25. Did you see the toss? The only shot I saw was cropped to show the ump getting hit.
