  1. So far, the pitching has been pretty damned good for a change. I know Jeter's average is due to drop, but I'm sure Matsui and A-Rod will soon pick up the slack. Even our OF looks better with Matsui getting quicker jumps on the ball, and a lot more hustle from Shef
  2. I saw the tape of the ump getting hit with the bat, but it didn't show Young throwing it. Was it accidental, or did Young actually throw it at him? I ask because sometimes the media leaves something out if it makes a story less sensational.
  3. Why don't the Mets try and get him? They need another starter, and he proved he can still pitch in the NL. He'd also sell tickets for ya.
  4. I didn't understand that move Torre made last night bringing in Sturtze for the save when he had Mo all warmed up.
  5. I’m no big fan of Torre as a manager, but I thought he handled last night’s game okay. The bunting was successful with a slew of 300 hitters due up. I would have left Farnsy in another inning, but it was no biggie. They both need work. Good idea on the thread, though. Torre's a good subject for debate, and I like the nickname Joey 4 rings.
  6. Don't the Mets have anyone stashed in the minors who can throw a ball? Everytime Zambrano comes up, I'm reminded of the Kazmir trade.
  7. I can't see Hunter being in the cards for us. Damon looks better defensively than I though he would. But you're right about a right fielder. Another Paulie would be nice.
  8. Zito is not garbage. He's getting off to a slow start as is the rest of Oakland's staff. Also, fuck Clemens. He wanted to go home, so let him stay there.
  9. I didn't get to see that much of Hernandez, but IMHO, he's not major league ready.
  10. I'm sure Bonds would have made the hall without the roids, and he still should. It's just that the numbers should be heavily asterisked, along with McGuire's and the rest of them. They should even count in the record books.
  11. Johnson had another bad outing, but he was rough this time last year, too. It's Chacon I'm worried about. He's pitching like he has a pissed off attitude, and this carried over from late spring training.
  12. True, but why go for a pitcher you normally beat up on? And, whenever you trade with Beanie, you come up a loser.
  13. This guy quietly does the job with his timely hits and great arm, yet receives no recognition. Where did you guys get him?
  14. Hey! We're trying to discuss baseball here. And, what did you do to Midas?
  15. Not yet. We have a couple of decent arms floating around in the minors if George finally decides to wize up.
  16. Renni photoshopped that, right?
  17. What? So he wasn't so sharp. Blame it on lack of work. ( same old fucking Torre! I used to blame Stots) Besides, Mo had those first two batters struck out. Even if the ump gave him one, we win the game. The worst part of the loss was an A-Rod hit finally meaning something.
  18. No, it wasn't Cey. It was the other guy. For fear of sounding like a racist, I won't mention his name.
  19. Let's not get too rash. You don't even know how he'll do in this league.
  20. Okay! I saw enough! Get Wright out of there and put Proctor in.
  21. I agree with your first part, Buck AND Torre let him get away with murder. To me, though, fielding percentage could be overrated. I remember a Bill Russell who took a beating from the press for all the errors he made. Yet, he was considered by many to be one of the best in the game at SS at that time. I won't mention any names, but he played beside a guy that wouldn't try for a ball if his family's well being depended on it.
