I saw the tape of the ump getting hit with the bat, but it didn't show Young throwing it. Was it accidental, or did Young actually throw it at him? I ask because sometimes the media leaves something out if it makes a story less sensational.

I’m no big fan of Torre as a manager, but I thought he handled last night’s game okay. The bunting was successful with a slew of 300 hitters due up. I would have left Farnsy in another inning, but it was no biggie. They both need work. Good idea on the thread, though. Torre's a good subject for debate, and I like the nickname Joey 4 rings.

I agree with your first part, Buck AND Torre let him get away with murder. To me, though, fielding percentage could be overrated. I remember a Bill Russell who took a beating from the press for all the errors he made. Yet, he was considered by many to be one of the best in the game at SS at that time. I won't mention any names, but he played beside a guy that wouldn't try for a ball if his family's well being depended on it.
