  1. I agree, just paraphrasing a GM from back in the day. I think I agree with Allstarjim's $13 mil number, but... if the Giants are as far away as some people think, then it doesn't make sense to commit anywhere near that much to one player at this point.
  2. went 6-10 with him, we can go 6-10 without him too.
  3. It was one of the dirtiest hits I've ever seen. I think thats why we associate it with Brian Dawkins.
  4. he's an alternate he would have made it with a full season. Problem with pro bowl voting is its based mostly on the prior season.
  5. What are you basing that on? The first neck injury was in week 1 or 2 of his rookie season. Wasn't Dawkins either, it was against Jacksonville. He was getting rave reviews before that.
  6. Jeff Fisher brings it out of us.
  7. What. The Hell. Are you even talking about? At least with respect to the Giants, I saw nothing on Sunday that I haven't seen in quite literally every single NFL game I've ever watched. Macho posturing, check. Self-promotion and celebration, check. I mean, I get not liking that stuff, nobody really does, but I've never been pissed at any team or player for celebrating when they get one over on the Giants - you succeed, you earn the right to celebrate.
  8. Well, his special teams always come to play....
  9. Having a bad week, boohyah? Sheesh man, this is one of the most pointlessly negative things I've read here. Ooh, so terrible, spinning the ball when you score.... standing up for your teammates, yeah that really sucks...players having fun and playing well, ugh, its so awful!...
  10. not like I'm rooting against the guy, but what about this resume says anything but journeyman?
  11. Yeah, I haven't seen Beckham actually taunt anybody... I've seen him get into it with a few guys, but it always started with somebody saying something to him. And the TD celebration penalty, I just watched it a few more times.... I'm pretty sure he didn't say anything. They called it a taunting penalty, but I think maybe that was incorrect and it was really unsportsmanlike conduct - using the ball as a prop in a celebration. Because I've seen a guy flagged before for spinning the ball like that, then dancing around it. Stupid that its even a penalty, in my opinion... they scored, let them do what they want, it doesn't hurt anybody.
  12. Preston Parker hasn't proven to be any more than just another journeyman, I don't know what he's flexing about.
  13. thats not what I thought I saw, but then again I was watching on an internet feed... but it looked to me like the player stepped out of bounds, then came back in bounds and was on the green when DeOssie hit him. I think the more appalling call though, by far, was that two Giants got ejected and only one Rams player was ejected - there were FIVE Rams on the Giants sideline fighting. There is no excuse for being on the other team's bench, every single one of them should have been ejected. Personally, I'm torn on Fisher. He knows how to get a lot out of a football team, thats for sure. But man, how bad do we want it?... is it worth this kind of stuff? One thing was fairly obvious - Gregg Williams has not learned his bounty lesson. The Rams were obviously trying to take Beckham out of the game.
  14. Yeah, that has to be coached.... the guy acted like he was in bounds and kept coming up the sideline. There was no whistle either. Total bullshit flag.
  15. I actually sort of expected a Hilliard-esque player out of Beckham. Not that Hilliard was bad, he showed some promise before some pretty severe injuries. But I've never seen a Giants offensive player blow up like Beckham.
  16. Kevin Gilbride was one of the great offensive minds in the NFL for a very long time, but it was increasingly apparent over the last couple seasons that defenses had figured out his tendencies in the passing game and were baiting his option route combinations.
  17. I definitely come down in the camp that Washington should get a shot, but I think Coughlin's point isn't that a guy has to be a great special teamer to play on offense, its that the 4th string WR needs to be good enough on special teams to dress on Sundays. Then I looked it up.... Washington has dressed 13 times this season. What the....
  18. And I guarantee every single one of their fans would trade their recent moderate success - every single one of their Marvin Lewis era playoff appearances - for just one single Lombardi
  19. holy crap guys... spend some time in Bengals country, or hell, literally any other NFL market other than Green Bay, Pittsburgh, or Boston. The negative perspective of the Giants recent success among their own fans is like a mass delusion.
  20. Look at how much money Mario Williams makes ($12-$15 million per, depending on your methodology), then stack up his stat line and his age against JPP... seriously guys, I wish I were wrong, but there is no way that JPP is coming back for less than $10 million per season. And it will probably be north of $12 million per season. Williams got paid far, far too much, but unfortunately that set the market and (I assume) JPP's expectations.
  21. High end this season: 9.5 sacks, and he leads all defensive lineman in tackles. I expect him to command somewhat more than that. And while I argue that a lot of you guys are underestimating what he is going to be offered, I think I agree with your point that it doesn't make sense to pay any defensive player $10 million+ per season.
  22. And for what its worth, there are several players on that list that haven't come close to matching JPP's production at his high end, and/or have been similarly inconsistent. Whether due to age or production, there is not a chance in hell any of the crossed out players are worth more on the open market than JPP.
  23. Not sure what you think we are determining; all I was getting at by asking the 'name ten better' question was what some team will be willing to offer him. And that in itself is agnostic on the question of whether or not the Giants should meet that price.
  24. okay, so Nas thinks relative value is not the issue in salary or contract negotiations. Noted! I'll keep that in my back pocket for future discussions....
  25. Can anybody name ten better defensive ends than JPP?
