  1. Someone at RG is probably John Greco or John Jerry, or a draft pick TBD.
  2. If the Browns pass on Barkley, Rosen, Darnold, and Mayfield, in favor of Hyde and Tyrod Taylor, they're even dumber than I thought.
  3. Okay I didnt realize it was a vet minimum contract. Knowing that, the signing is not a huge concern.
  4. True...maybe I'm a little pre-mature to judge Gettlemen. Plus, we still have ~$20mm in cap, and another $7mm if we cut Marshall and Harris, so the jury on his Free Agency period this year is still out.
  5. Agree we need to prioritize an OL, and likely need his cap money to do it. I won't lose any sleep if we cut him.
  6. To me, it only makes sense to keep Marshall if we're able to put together a competent, starting calibur offensive line, AND provided cap space allows it. Otherwise, without a capable OL, it doesn't matter what WR's we put out there...we'll be running two yard out routes and RB check-downs again, like our offensive repertoire last year.
  7. Suitable Offensive Lineman are flying off the FA board. Jeez. Even Cordy Glenn would have been nice, if we traded a 3rd rounder.
  8. Can't go wrong signing a 30 year old +, one dimensional RB, who averaged 3.4 yards per carry, to play behind a group of backup capable offensive lineman that we currently have. Meanwhile, OL Andrew Norwell signed with Jacksonville. Gettlemen is not off to a good start.
  9. Jones was at least as good as Richburg. Problem is, up and down this Giants OL, there's basically little starting caliber talent as is. Flowers and Jerry are marginal, and would be backups on any other team. I suppose John Greco might be a fringe starter, but he's nothing to get excited about. For RT, we have not RT; Chad Wheeler was garbage last year. We still have a garbage offensive line thus far, but I'm hopeful for some moves in FA and the draft to change that.
  10. Good riddance. He was mediocre at best, and coming off a serious injury.
  11. I agree, but I think his play at CB deteriorated to the point where it's probably best that we replace him with someone potentially more consistent and a full time starter, in my view. Cockrell seems he can be a decent, capable starting #2 CB.
  12. Does this mean we bring back Ross Cockrell?
  13. Interesting stat...he has over 10 passes defensed in each of four years he was a full time starter (excluding 2015, when he was injured for 12 games). I like that. Generally that means he can actually pass cover, unlike Giant LBs for the past five years.
  14. A Nate Solder in decline is still substantially better than Erica Flowers at LT. Perhaps because of that fact, Solder will command a lower contract? Maybe 3 years $27 mil, with incentives and a small bonus?
  15. In other words, the Bengals are trying to tank their 2018 season to land a top draft pick in 2019.
  16. My Plan - LT - Nate Solder - LG - 2nd or 3rd round draft pick. - C - Brett Jones - RG - DJ Fluker (or other FA aquisition) - RT - Ereck Flowers + Two additional draft picks or FA signings, for depth and potential starters down the road. Only keep Jerry if you absolutely need to and can't fill in LG or RG. Otherwise, cut him and free up the cap space.
  17. In my view, coverage/weakside and/or speedy OLBs is the biggest need we have at the LB position.
  18. Here's my offseason plan to address key needs, with an eye on ~$30-35mm in open cap space after we make cuts (e.g. Dwayne Harris) or contract adjustments (e.g. DRC, plus some others will have to): OL - Sign LT Nate Solder (will be a hefty contract), sign Fluker to a 1 year ~$2mm deal. Draft 2 additional OL in the first four rounds. LB - Sign OLB Tahir Whitehead (another hefty contract), resign OLB Kennard to a modest deal, and resign Robinson to a 1 year small deal for depth. Draft additional LBs, ideally one in the top three rounds. CB - Re-sign Ross Cockrell to a decent contract to be the #2 CB (on paper), adjust DRCs whopping $8.5mm deal down to provide cap space. With the new regime, keep Apple around and see if he can redeem himself, or at least for depth. SS/DL (backups for depth only) - Late round picks/cheap veteran FA pickups if we can. QB - If Rosen is there at #2 draft him. If not, trade down and obtain more picks. Pass on Barkley. Given all of our priorities above, and the current roster, I would de-prioritize RB, WR, TE.
  19. Also, is anyone else aware that we have practically no LB's on this team? Kennard, Casillas, Robinson, Shepherd, who aside from Kennard and aside from Robinson on health were already marginal to begin with, are free agents.
  20. How did it work out for Jacksonville when they were forced to throw the ball?
  21. If Rosen is there at #2, I say we take him. Darnold or Allen, pass. The more I watch of Darnold and Allen, the less I like. Trade down and pick up an OL, if Rosen isn't there.
