  1. It will be absolute found money if Latimer turns into more than a backup and/or special teams guy this year. I'll take it. If he helps us move the ball and score, more power to him.
  2. Sheperd and Engram both demonstrated that if we have a competent offensive line, and if we have a competent playcaller (Unlike Mac, who had them running two yard in/out routes nearly half the time), these two can be dangerous weapons on our team.
  3. Let's all not get too excited and worked up about the position drafted in the 4th round or later. These guys generally have such a low success rate in the league (yes, there are exceptions like Davonte Freeman, Telvin Smith, Stefon Diggs, Ahmad Bradshaw etc). If we get a starting caliber player out of the 4th round or later, I don't really care what position we drafted there, I'll take it regardless.
  4. It means we got rid of a guy that at best was slated to play 1 down per game, if he was lucky.
  5. Same here. Though, if these guys pan out, well all stop caring about the position drafted quickly.
  6. I think we have 2 obvious and highly likely long term starters (if not better) in Barkely and Hernandez, with potential for Carter to be a 3-4 starting LB or at least sub-package contributor. BJ Hill and RJ McIntosh can at least be rotational guys at first, then develop into starters, although Star Ledger seems to think BJ Hill will start at DE this year, with Harrison at the NT, and Tomlinson at the other DE in the 3-4 alignment. Lauletta is the real crapshoot. I like what I'm hearing about him and what I've seen from his senior bowl tape on YouTube, but am cautiously optimistic.
  7. Were all under the spell of NY Jets QB draft syndrome. Few of us actually watch college football, but all believe that our latest x round QB draft pick 2nd or 3rd on the depth chart waiting in the wings was a steal that all other teams missed, and is surely the next Joe Montana; we just need to give him a shot.
  8. I've seen more tape on Webb and think he's just meh. He's a bit slow to process what's going on around him and also not a winner like Lauletta. Take it for what it's worth. My experience evaluating quarterbacks is limited to 15 years of playing Madden Franchise Mode and Fantasy Football :-).
  9. The kid lit up the Senior Bowl. He has at least as much potential as Davis Webb, if not more.
  10. Go look at his tape on YouTube, especially the senior bowl. Hell do just fine.
  11. His senior bowl play looks pretty good. He was chucking it down the field no problem. Check it out on YouTube.
  12. Vernon, Kareem Martin, Avery Moss, plus Romeo Okwara and/or Kerry Wynn will line up there. B.J. Hill and RJ McIntosh will likely be playing the 3-4 DE spots on run downs, and anywhere on the line on pass downs. Harrison and Rob Thomas will be the NTs.
  13. Was surprised by the pick, but my feeling is indifference. 4th rounders and below have such a low success rate anyway. He sounds decent, despite low arm strength. Maybe Chad Pennington, but a healthy version?
  14. Luke Falk is a decent prospect.
  15. So we replaced Bromley with Bromley 2.0.
  16. Will Hernandez = Chris Snee reborn.
  17. Haters are gonna hate. Imagine the headaches opposing DC's are going to have, in dealing with Barkely (who can catch out of the backfield and outrun most LBs and many Safeties), Beckham, Engram (another guy, can outrun most LBs and many Safeties), not to mention Shepard who is no slouch as well. Hopefully we pick up Hernandez in round 2 to compliment the line and plug in day one at RG. I also hope we go WR with one of our middle round picks as well, to add depth behind ODB and Shep.
  18. Another reason I sure hope we land Hernandez in round 2.
  19. If Barkely turns into Todd Gurley, Edgerring James or similar, people will shut up and sing Gettlemen's praises. If Barkely turns into Reggie Bush or worse, people will continue to rant and rave. As stated earlier...welcome to the internet...and welcome to football speculation before the players even get on the field.
  20. As much as I strongly prefer Hernandez, there are some other good prospects still out there: Harold Landry, Justin Reid, Josh Jackson, Carlton Davis, etc
  21. Post Day 1 Mock: 2 - G Will Hernandez, UTEP 3 - SS/LB Kyzir White, West Virginia 3 - WR Tre'Quan Smith, Central Florida 4 - OLB/Edge Joe Ostman, Central Michigan 5 - DE John Franklin Myers, Stephen F. Austin
  22. They also typically didn't run him up the middle a whole lot...they tried getting him out into space and onto the flanks, from what I've seen. When they did go up the middle, they did a lot of read-option stuff, which is basically draw type runs, and if you do that with a shitty line, might not be indicative of his ability between the tackles.
  23. Outside of Allen or Rosen, I'll be satisfied with Barkely, Darnold, Mayfield, Nelson, or Chubb as a top 5 pick. But I'm realistic enough to understand that they all have the potential to be busts or underachievers. No-one is a "sure thing."
