...well, to answer the question, I think it's too early to tell how much he will progress as a receiver. The potential is certainly there. As of now, I would like to see him as a secondary or third option and be used as the team's primary return specialist, for both kicks and punts. That he wasn't used more often on either of these this past season is confounding, considering the ability he displayed in the Arizona game. I know after Burress's incident you can't have a primary receiver getting hurt on return duty but I think for the time being that is where he can contribute the most.

Well said. You're gonna get along just fine here. :TU:

Domenik Hixons best attributes will be as a 3rd WR going up against slower, smaller nickle cornerbacks or safeties and as a return man. He could be the #2 opposite a real good WR, but I think we all saw what is best role was when he was forced to become a starter in Plax spot.

That's what I thought till he dropped THAT pass. :brooding:

Plax has dropped gimmes before. I'm not saying Hixon is Plax but can you remember any other big drops Hixon had this year? He's very good at catching passes in traffic over the middle of the field.

Okay, I'm convinced. Another thing I like about Hix is his short legs and the way he can stop on a dime and come back. He and Eli didn't run that play often enough.

you cant hate him off that one pass. it happens especially for a young raw player.

he is gonna improve more and more over the years and I think he will be a good WR for us for years to come

Sure its possible but we would need to see another great improvement in his game next season to be considered for that spot. When we first picked him up he was considered damaged goods with great potential. He became the punt/kickoff return guy we've been looking for in 2007. He then has a great training camp, got on the field more even before we lost Burress.

He did struggle against the better cb's in the game. Dropped a few passes and disappeared when he was placed in the #1 spot.

Hixon could develop into a #1 receiver in two or three years.

The problem, though. We don't have 2-3 years.
