  1. very anti-climatic though, at least half these guys have had a public report on them prior to mitchell report. the only guys i was surprised about where not all-star caliber players. either they couldn't dig very deep cuz of the mlbpa and no subpoena, or they are just holding back the big players who who would shock everyone
  2. woo hoo, only one childhood hero of mine is in the report
  3. it's like christmas, i feel like such a nerd "The sources would not reveal the names of players included in the report, but confirmed that as many as 80 are listed. One lawyer expected several "very, very high-level names" to be exposed, although Mitchell is frank in the report about how difficult it was to get information regarding the extent of player use." (espn)
  4. he had a back injury in '05, and was on 15-day DL but i dont know how long he was actually out. that's all i could find on him
  5. mick i would think you are right regarding clemens and a-rod but clemens' name has already come up in the grimsley report (thoguh the names are blacked out, supposedly it is part of the mtichell report now), and though these guys have the means to have their own guys you can say that about many of these stars. relatively speaking most of them are poor compared to clemens and a-rod but they are still millionaires. i don't think any big name red sox player other than schilling would be in the report--i do find it odd that schilling reportedly refused to speak to mitchell, despite the so-called clubhouse code--he's had no problems breaking that code before and now suddenly he doesn't? maybe im off base but that seems a little fishy. and i am inclined to believe ortiz juiced. he absolutely came out of nowhere after being cut by the twins of all teams, had those heart issues, etc. but despite that i dont think he'll get outed, everyone loves the guy and i can't see anyone ratting him out if he is dirty. manny i would automatically assume except that he's been consistently ridiculous with the bat since he was young, so unless he started early i think he's clean. beckett? i mean if the guy didn't have so many injury problems plus that one year where you could argue that he was just adapting to the AL east hitters i would have expected him to have 4 great seasons in a row following the '03 world series. the injuries aren't steroid-type injuries (blisters and such right?), and it's definitely not out of the realm of possibility that a big kid from texas is throwing gas at the major league level w/o cheating
  6. right before he cashed in on it--though he did have a couple of them
  7. im with you on everyone but cabrera (assuming you meant miguel). burrell giles brothers burnitz mo vaughn greg vaughn pettitte valverde kevin brown randy johnson larry walker kerry wood thome cordero (the one who just signed) shawn green delgado barry bonds
  8. well that is definitely wrong, im just talking about their strategy of winning the world series, selling everyone off, and starting over again every 4 years or so
  9. can't blame them. as long as their scouting is on point their strategy will work
  10. i agree w/ blue. he's far from flawless but his blocking his improved a lot since his rookie year making him more of an all-around te than a pass catching force, but i think his numbers would be way better on different teams or for different coaches
  11. he would help the yankees lineup more than almost any other player could, but i dont think anyone's goign to sign him until the case is resolved
  12. i'm trying to be fair to him but like i said, i'm reserving judgment till after the season is over. i've never disliked the guy's attitude. my main arguments last season was all the boneheaded gameday decisions, play calling, offensive system in general, the fact that he lost the locker room, the fact that he blamed injuries after declaring them a mental thing when he was hired and claiming he'd fix this so-called mental problem, and the penalties. but ownership gave him another chance, and so did the players, so i should too.
  13. im reserving judgment till the season is over, but like i said in another thread, if the season ended today and we lost in the first round i probably wouldn't fire him
  14. i get what you guys are saying, you need to careful who you bring in, but there's lot of risk in that rotation....
  15. it's good but i'd take the 97 and 2000 defenses before this one
  16. he made siragusa seem tolerable today--that's how annoying he was
  17. did he watch warmups or something? i think he might've alluded to it once or twice but i forgot, can someone help me out? darryl?
  18. cain is no longer a gamble, he's legit. lincecum is still unproven but he's shown flashes of brilliance
  19. on a neutral field i'd rather play seattle, but if the game's on the road tampa's the easy choice IMO
  20. i dont know the specifics of their contracts but i had been kind of reserving judgment on his handling of the offense until bonds was finally gone. i know they tried hard for aramis ramirez and soriana last season before finally taking bonds back, i'd love to see if there really is going to be a noticeable change in philosophy starting this offseason
  21. sabaen's too smart to deal one of those guys for an above-average OF who has a track record of a whole 2 years playing at that level. i wouldn't go as far as to say the alex rios' of the world are a dime a dozen, but they are certainly more available than the cain's and lincecum's
  22. on the back page of the news today it says the yanks want to rid themselves of one of their pricey players so they can get back into the santana sweepstakes (nice try hank, we all know you're once again getting called on your bluff). abreau is one of the guys pictured---um, why did you pick up his option?
