  1. wang's the goat if you ask me. dude won 19 games and will get cy young consideration--can't have two bad starts like that from your ace
  2. can't wait till someone makes the a.ross youtube highlight video w/ rick ross's 'hustlin' playing in the background
  3. luckily for you the mnf game (broadcasted on espn while the baseball game wasn't) had a super dramatic finish
  4. nice, d4p is back and is firing out the mom jokes already. welcome back!
  5. it's a crapshoot. it's not normal to win every year like you guys grew accustomed to 10 years ago
  6. geez, who thought we'd be having this conversation 2 weeks ago
  7. i try my best to be a very patient fan who doesn't flip flop too much on his team or their players--to a fault really. But 2 huge blown saves in clinching games after 13 years of unconditional defense is where I have to draw the line with him. I just found out next season was an option that's already been activated by his performance this season. So looks like he's the closer again next season and i will of course support him since he's a padre. But he's no longer in the holy trinity of midas' favorite childhood players. kevin brown never disappointed me like this and neither did mitch richmond. he's being demoted till further notice
  8. oops nevermind im still defending him. sheesh this is a tough habit to break
  9. he's saved playoff games before so i wouldn't agree that it would be his first, but i get your point.

i agree, fassel used him way better. i dont know if coughlin or gilbride or whoever designed their offense with the TE as a weapon in mind. i rarely see shockey split wide like fassel used to do or get some of those awesome screens we used to see all the time. and that's fine as long as we win, but if we're not getting it done offensively i think coughlin should seriously considering tweaking his playbook to get more creative with shockey
  11. no, i meant the pads had guys in scoring position 3 straight innings before they finally got some runs. i dont remember if heath bell got an atbat, after his 2nd full inning he was due up and was lifted so maybe not
  12. they actually had man on 2nd three consecutive innings before the inning that they scored. they just couldn't get him across. they scored a lot of runs, the bullpen was great, peavy was gritty despite getting hit, and they made it a close game. everything finally shifted to a favorable game for them and he still blew it. i couldn't ask for a better situation considering the circumstances
  13. what about reyes, im sure there won't be a huge outcry from the mets fan base
  14. i know, he's always had problems at coors, his career era there is like 6.00+, but i just can't continue to unconditionally support the guy after blowing 2 chances to clinch. this was easily hyis worst season--7 blown saves in 49 chances. enough's enough, the team played too hard and overcame all those annoying injuries just to be let down twice. meanwhile heath bell was my freaking hero last night and doesn't look like he gets shook by anything. if hoffman wants to come back as the setup man fine, but the guy's done and i dont want to trust my ninth inning to him anymore
  15. so cal, just so you know i WILL be making "indians dont belong" threads for each game
  16. im not even going to blame those coors field hits that would be outs in other stadiums. he sucked, he blew 2 chances to clinch the playoffs in three days. he's done, i dont care if they resign him. im totally cool with heath bell closing next year. have at it
  17. thatcher, hairston--both midseason acquisitions. great job by towers
  18. so latroy hawkins can suddenly get big outs again after all these years? sure why not....
  19. they're all on fire and they are playing at coors--did you see torreabla's hr? or kaz's leadoff 'double'? it was a dribbler through the infield. that place is a joke. this wouldn't be close at petco
  20. yes, he's had playoff saves. and he went 53/54 in 98 in a year that the pads coincidently made the world series. im sure some of those were meaningful. some closers aren't blessed enough to be put on championship caliber teams every season though and get opportunity after opportunity to get world series save opps--which in the end is the difference between hoffman and rivera
  21. thank god peavy is pitching, he's our only chance of winning. coors field was nuts today, im scared shitless of going in there tomorrow while they've won 13 of 14
