  1. Youre right Storm. Thirty rushes a game should be the minimum for a team with 2 backs like jacobs and bradshaw. That along with the pass rush was and still should be this teams identity. Im not sure they still see it that way but they need to figure it out quickly.
  2. The timeout before the Washington punt was pretty stellar too.Good thing we lost by two touchdowns and didn't end up needing it.
  3. whatever his nickname this team will be fine without him. Thomas had too many tackles for a corner.
  4. I wasn't expecting another season ending injury 5 days before the season started but as a Mets and Giants fan nothing can really surprise me. Jack is right he was having a very nice pre-season. I know everyone on here loves the Giants and most people here try to take an optimists view but I've seen some posts over the last few weeks brushing off the injuries and the Boss and Smith signings as no big deal. -Amukamara missed time with the lockout, now he's going to miss time into October most likely. Cornerback is the most athletically demanding position on the field. I hope I'm wrong but he is probably going to struggle mightily. If I am wrong we have a stud corner. -The Osi is a one dimensional player argument. Ok, I tend to agree to a certain extent but he was responsible for 11.5 sacks and 10 forced fumbles. This defense needs him. -Marvin Austin wasn't going to be a factor anyway. How do we know that? For his size and position he is off the charts in terms of athleticism and now he's essentially starting over going into next season. -Terrell Thomas has been overrated on this board and Ross should be able to step in fine. Aaron Ross hasn't exactly been a model of health and consistency in his own right. He's a first round pick from a big time program and he had been playing out of position a bit the last couple of years so maybe the move back to corner will help but the jury is certainly still out on that. I've heard a few interesting arguments on the TT tackles but bottom line the guy made plays. -Boss has concussion issues and drops passes. Ok. Well, until further notice Beckum sucks. This is going to be a huge problem. -Steve Smith. It's incredibly frustrating and disappointing that he signed with the Eagles. I hope Hixon, Cruz, or JJ(hail mary) can step in but we are talking about the loss of a receiver who set the franchise record for catches in a season and was huge on 3rd downs. Whether he's rushing back from injury or not the fact is he will be out there for the Eagles in a few weeks. That fucking blows. Now we lose the middle of the defense. Goff is young and while he may not have been or ever be a star I don't think it was unreasonable to expect significant progression in his second season as a starter. This is one of the worst off-seasons I have ever seen. It might be the worst actually. But it's a long season and anything can happen. The expectations are going to be tempered and Big Blue will be under the radar, just the way the team and fans like it. I'm still pumped as shit for Sunday.
  5. Someone just needs to step up that's all. Smith made a business decision, and while I hate the Eagles more than any team in sports, I know that we the fans take the rivalries and loyalties way more serious than the players do. Either way, it's an opportunity for the guys behind Nicks and Manningham to carve out a defined role on this team. At the end of the day We still have one of the best receiving duos in the league. Hell, if Hakeem and Mario take another step forward they could be the best.
  6. Regardless of how everyone feels about Barden, I think we can all agree that hes running out of time if he hasnt already. I hope the Giants give him at least a little more time to get healthy and see if he can bring something to this offense. Given the flux this team has gone through this offseason Bardens physical attributes could be a huge x factor if he can get it together. Big if obviously.
  7. I understand. Let's hope he gets it together. Despite what has happened, that win in Glendale was worth every penny.
  8. I wouldn't lump St Louis into that group. It's only one year, but Bradford showed plenty of good things in his rookie year. I think he's a keeper. But you're right the Giants season hinges on Eli. I don't think the Giants even begin looking at other qb options before they give a new coach a shot to right the ship. Eli has a 100 million dollar contract. On talent and performance, he isn't deserving of that contract. The Giants paid him for arguably the greatest playoff run in recent sports memory. Regardless, it's a huge commitment in a league with huge salary cap penalties and implications so he's pretty much here to stay barring a catastrophe. I think he's an intelligent guy. However, his recent football iq in the heat of the moment has pretty much sucked. That has to change.
  9. Seven years into a career you should have figured just about everything out. To a degree unfortunately, what you see is what you get. Eli has proven you can win with him and every year since becoming a full time starter he hasn't had a record below .500. He's also out there every week. There is something to be said for that. The interceptions are probably something we are going to have to accept and live with.......just not 25 of them. Hell, cut it down to one a game and that's worth at least one win. Now we just need to see some players like Pierre-Paul, Hixon/Cruz, and Ross step up into their new roles with added responsibility and this team might be ok.
  10. It's really frustrating because this team has the talent to contend but they are just a flat out sloppy team. Until that changes we are going to see some extremely painful losses where the Giants are physically better than their opponent but the failure to execute fundamentals costs them. Any one of us could identify what needs to be fixed on this team yet the same shortcomings and mistakes keep happening. It's baffling.
  11. The Giants do this quite frequently because they have plenty of talent. Between the 20s they moved the ball well. Defense did a very nice job too. The special teams issues are wearing thin though. I never expect us to have a good unit but I'm hoping one of these years they'll surprise me.
  12. Turnovers?....check bad special teams?...check stalling inside the red zone?...check. Looks like we are right on schedule gentlemen.
  13. Eli certainly hasn't looked good. Turnovers and poor special teams play were the reasons this team missed the playoffs last year and it looks like more of the same at least from tonights performance. That being said we just have to hope Eli gets it together. There is a reason Carr and Rosenfels are backup quarterbacks. I know Carr was behind terrible offensive lines in Houston but he has more career interceptions than touchdowns and he also had stops in Carolina and San Francisco where he didn't exactly distinguish himself. If Eli doesn't play well, the Giants are going to have a bad year it's pretty simple. I think it would take a monumental drop in his performance before the team would even consider making a change.
  14. Haha thats a " glass half full" perspective if I ever saw one. But you're right the coaching staff and players need to step up and adjust. Ross was looking like the odd man out now he gets another shot. It's now or never for him to prove his mettle
  15. They all matter. Whether Austin was going to be a factor or not this is a year of development for him thats now out the window.
  16. I can't say I'm too optimistic. Beat the Eagles week 3. That game could very well set the tone for the entire season. Given what we saw in that debacle last time and the offseason moves, I have no rational reason right now to think the Giants can do that. I despise the Eagles but a lot of that vitriol has turned to disappointment in my own team for constantly playing second fiddle to their biggest rival. They have to get this monkey off their back. Call that Eagle comeback a fluke if you want but 6 in a row sure as hell isn't.
  17. Scary stuff hope he's alright. The NFL is such a guilty pleasure. These guys are all in fantastic shape but when you're carrying some of the weight these linemen do regardless of the conditioning the heat can take a toll. I don't know the cause of what happened but I don't think we appreciate sometimes how grueling these practices can be.
  18. I hope the front office and Osi can reach a compromise. But business is business. There isn't any loyalty between team and player and if Osi feels he's outperforming his current contract and wants to try and get a raise more power to him. The team doesn't hesitate to release a player if they're underperforming so all is equal if you ask me. Osi has the ability to take over a game from time to time but as others have alluded to on this board, he can be a bit one dimensional and can be taken out of plays and games altogether on his bad days. I wouldn't call him "elite" but he's still a damn good player and brings a unique element to the pass rush and defense. I just want the soap opera to end as soon as possible. We haven't seen our team beat the Eagles in six tries and they are better on paper today than they have ever been. This isn't the way to start a year if you're trying to reestablish yourself as a divisional and conference force.
  19. As Joe recently alluded to, I think this just reinforces the need to sign Plaxico. I wasn't entirely on board a couple of months back but I've slowly come around and this move by the Eagles seals it. The Giants are going to need as many diverse packages and looks that they can come up with and considering the injuries to Smith and Nicks last season a little depth wouldn't hurt either.
  20. Definitely ruined my day hearing this. I don't know what the fascination is with athletes wanting to play in Philly but I digress. Im sick of watching the Giants lose to them and don't want to hear anymore excuses. We know espn is blowing their green dicks every year and this signing will take it to another level. Hopefully the hype galvanizes our Giants and they stop the mistakes and general shit play that has prevented them from beating the Eagles. Time to man up.
  21. I really don't get it. If this is going to keep happening with him it might not be a bad idea to at least field some offers and see what kind of return they can get. The fact that they re-signed Kiwi makes a move easier to do I think. I would really like him to just keep quiet and play because the pass rush is the bread and butter of this team and Osi is a big part of it.
