  1. I want to see every player back on the field as soon as they are capable of playing. This is a talented Viking team that cannot be taken lightly. They may be experiencing a bit of a midseason rebirth due to the change in leadership, something we saw firsthand with the Cowboys and Jason Garrett. To have Nicks and Smith back even in a limited capacity would be a huge boost for everyone on offense and would certainly alter Minnesotas gameplan. Factor in Diehl on top of that and things are looking good and improving quick.
  2. You pretty much said it all. I will always be grateful for what Plaxico did as a Giant and how instrumental he was in winning the Super Bowl. The NFC Championship was one of the greatest big game performances by a wide receiver that I have ever seen. However, considering what the team has done personnel wise since his departure, and the way things ended between him and the Giants, it's not a road worth considering let alone traveling. I wish him the best and hope he can resurrect his career somewhere but it shouldn't be here.
  3. Hey backup or not, he plays with a high motor. Certainly an unsung hero on the team.
  4. I think he's going to end up in Washington. What a bizarro world hookup McNabb to Burress would be.
  5. I'm not one to boo my team when I go to a game, but that first half by the defense was pathetic. There is no other way to describe their effort. Cofield looked to be working the entire game but he was the only one that I really noticed until the third quarter. Sports in the northeast is a different animal and while I don't subscribe to the booing, Rolle and the rest of the team should expect it when they put forth efforts like they did in the first 30 minutes on Sunday. Eventually, I think he will come to understand playing in New York and the expectations that come with it.
  6. More than reasonable requests given the circumstances. Brees was entirely too comfortable in the pocket. It got to the point where I was hoping the coaching staff would start sending 6 or 7 guys in. Even if they missed, the result would have been the same as the zone defense they were implementing. I got a pit in my stomach when I first heard about the Phillips injury and it was on full display this afternoon. With Arizona, the Eaglets, and San Diego coming up, it certainly raises a concern and I'm sure CC Brown painted a nice bullseye on himself for these teams to fire on. With all that said, it is early in the season and there is plenty of room for improvement. The Saints are the better team....right now. We all know from recent history how important that can turn out to be. The Giants just need to get healthy and with Ross, Canty, etc back in the mix I think this can turn out to be but a minor bump in the road and perhaps a well placed wakeup call.
  7. I know they're only 5-0 and Bradshaw has been running great and picking up the slack but hey, people have to complain about something right? Jacobs certainly hasn't been running like I expected, but he has a great opportunity this week in a game where he will be needed to set the tone. It's imperative that the running game is firing on all cylinders to control the time of possession and keep Brees and company off the field.
  8. Hey guys. It's been a little while. A lot of work and baseball season with the Mets. Needed a few minutes away from baseball. I'm not angry or disappointed with the way they have been playing. They don't have the horses right now and are doing the best they can. A bit of a helpless feeling to tell you the truth. But I digress. I liked this Barden pick when I first heard about it. He may very well be a long term project but the size and athletic ability he possesses is exactly the kind of flyer you want to see the Giants take. If he can contribute at some point in red zone situations and make a few plays, I would deem it a success. I'm looking forward to a Berman call on a Barden touchdown. I bet he will find a way to be very creative with the biblical references and the like.
  9. I like Britt's size, but I think the Giants need to do whatever they can to acquire Boldin or Edwards, depending on which one is available. It's extremely rare to see a rookie wide receiver come in and make consistent contributions on a weekly basis. Considering that Smith, Hixon, Manningham, and Moss are already on the roster and still have some things to learn, a reliable veteran at the position appears to be a necessity. Obviously this hinges entirely on what Arizona and Cleveland plan on doing so drafting a receiver might be the only legitimate way to try and strengthen the position.
  10. I guess it's good to see him issue some kind of statement. After hearing about the postponement, I lost any real hope that he would be able to play this year, let alone remain with the team. He certainly destroyed the team's chances at a repeat and I know plenty of fans won't forgive him for that. I'm going to appreciate what he did for the team in 07 and the NFC Championship, one of the best performances by a wide receiver that I have ever seen. Without him, the Giants would not be champions. I do hope everything turns out as good as possible for him considering the circumstances. I enjoyed watching him play and as long as he doesn't wind up wearing the uniform of a division rival, I will continue to do that whenever he gets that opportunity again.
  11. I always like optimism, and I've been optimistic this entire time. If there is a way for Burress to remain with the Giants, I am all for it. I don't like this postponement though. Usually someone's status as an athlete gets them preferential treatment. However, due to Bloomburg's grandstanding on the issue, and from what I have heard recently, Burress will have to spend some kind of time in prison. The longer this goes on the less likely he will be able to play this year. At this point, the team has to go with the approach that Plax will not play this year and that's how I am going to take it until I hear any new developments. There is always the possibility of a suspended sentence that can be served after the season, but Burress and his legal team really need to find a way to get everything straightened out soon and see what kind of agreement can be reached.
  12. I didn't find that surprising at all. There isn't a receiver on the team that has Burress's size or skill set.
  13. I think most Giants fans want him back. I certainly do. I don't know the man, but my impression of him isn't that of a bad or malicious person. However, he has displayed severe lapses in judgment on more than one occasion and has really put himself into a bad situation. I don't want to see him in jail. Not only because I am a Giants fan but I hate seeing wasted talent. It's both sad and frustrating to see someone with abilities that we can only dream of possessing flush them down the toilet by doing something so unnecessary and preventable. I don't know what implications Mayor Bloomburg's grandstanding will have on Plax's fate but I am hoping for the best.
  14. They are both sure fire hall of famers, Harrison being a first ballot I imagine. I agree with what you said. They aren't going to give the Giants what they are looking for in terms of a difference maker at the position. The idea of having one of them on the team to mentor the other receivers is appealing, but if the Giants were looking for that they would have brought Toomer back. I have a feeling both Harrison and Holt think they have something left in the tank and want to be in a position where they can have a prominent role in an offense.
  15. Cops are citizens who are allowed to carry guns and arrest people they deem are violating the law. A pretty big responsibility. Personally, I won't defend a cop. They have never done anything to help me or anyone I know for that matter. However, they have taken money out of my pocket for not wearing a seat belt. Why I should give someone money for that I will never know but I digress. I'm not going to rip city cops here because they actually have to deal with serious issues on a daily basis. But overall, my respect for them is next to nothing. Indeed, they are tremendous fund raisers and they certainly are very creative in devising new hiding spots to catch that person coming home from a shitty day of work going 10 over.
  16. Every guy the Giants sign does not have to be a star. Based on his numbers prior to last season, the tackle numbers suggest he is at least around the ball. Whether that be from good skill or poor play on his part I don't know but if he is fully healed I see no reason why he can't contribute in some capacity. Considering he's only 26 there may be some upside so for the contract he received and the fact Butler is gone, it looks like a reasonable move.
  17. No, even if he is on the downside of his career, his leadership is indispensable. I think Sheppard is still a good corner. He's still relatively young and I can't believe he just lost his ability. I think his ego was bruised and as a corner, confidence is paramount. Either way, I don't know what the Eagles have planned. McNabb wants to see serious changes on offense and it looks like TJ isn't in their plans. I live in South Jersey so I hear the Eagle fans criticizing McNabb constantly. I hope he leaves so they realize what they had. By the way they talk about him you would think that they have a full trophy case.
  18. Forigve me if I'm not up to date, but where was it stated and why would the Giants release Fred Robbins? The guy is the best player you never hear about on this team. I hope it's not the case. Anyway, about Canty's deal. It's all about the guaranteed money. For him to earn the entire 42 million, he will definitely have earned it if you know what I mean. I thought after signing Bernard they may have hit the brakes but the Giants have gone one step further and solidified what was already the best defensive line in football when at full strength. Canty's ability to play the end gives the team an opportunity to keep everyone fresh and the luxury of perhaps moving Kiwi around with different packages. Needless to say, it's a great start and I couldn't be happier. One thing though, Boley and Bernard were arrested for domestic disputes against their wives/girlfriends. That is the one thing I can't tolerate players doing. I hope it's behind both of them but I hate seeing that. Anyway, a great job by Reese so far.
  19. Ahh, free agency. You know, even with baseball starting and my worries about the Mets being able to stave off another collapse, I keep coming back to football. The season that never ends. Anyway, I like the Boley signing. I have few complaints about the personnel on the Giants but I definitely wanted to see some speed at linebacker going into next season, whether it be through free agency or the draft. He appears to be a bit undersized so I have to assume he incorporates good speed to his game. I heard about him being an up and coming player two years ago but from what I gathered on the Falcons message board, he fell out of favor with new coach Mike Smith. At this point, Reese has to prove to me he can make a serious blunder, because up until now he has done as good a job as possible.
  20. I understand not wanting to overpay for Jacobs. I have a feeling though that the defensive coordinators in the division and the players themselves have more headaches gameplanning for Jacobs than they would Ward if he were the primary back. This isn't a knock on Ward. He is a solid back and does everything very well. However, we saw what happened when Jacobs missed time this year. In Arizona, Ward was underwhelming, with 20 carries for 69 yards. The second half of the Eagles game at Giants Stadium and the following week against Dallas the offense was completely stagnant, unable to pass or run the football with any effectiveness. When Jacobs returned against Carolina he carried the ball 24 times, and Ward chipped in with a career day of 215 yards. I feel that Bradshaw has a better chance of replacing Ward than Ward would replacing Jacobs. In the end it will be about the money so we will see what happens.
  21. Hmm, that's interesting. It would be a bit of a homecoming for Moreno. He played for Middletown South. Personally, I hope that doesn't happen. Jacobs is one of the most unique players in the league and is arguably the most important part of the Giants identity on offense. I hope a reasonable agreement for both sides can be hammered out. I don't watch much college football so I'm going to have to educate myself on the talent coming out but I would like to see a linebacker with the first pick if a quality player is available.
  22. Yeah, the Giants are definitely better than what they showed. As disappointing as it was to end the season that way, to secure the number one seed after losing Strahan to retirement and Osi to injury before the season started, and to then lose Plaxico the way they did, this team displayed major resilience. I know with the way the cap is structured you never want to miss an opportunity, but we should all have confidence in the Giants ability to once again rise to the top of the NFC.
  23. The Cowboys as favorites? Good....everything is as it should be.
  24. I have never been proven more wrong about a player from any sport than I have with Corey Webster. I can't say how happy I am to be a complete fool. It's almost unbelievable to see the progression from just last year, when he was inactive for some games. If I ever see him in person, I owe him an apology followed by a thank you. Yeah, and the pro bowl is a joke. It's nice to see Giants get selected because they get a vacation. That's all I can say about it.
  25. I hope everything works out for him. I would like to see him back and as long as his coaches and teammates feel the same way, I would welcome him with open arms. We aren't trying to cure cancer here, just trying to win football games. It's funny, Bloomberg comes out with this diatribe against Plax yet Bernie Madoff, a man who stole billions(including from charities) and destroyed the lives of so many people is allowed to stay in his penthouse and cook breakfast for himself every morning. Some lonely inmate should be having him for breakfast right now. Anyway, I digress. Plaxico is a playmaker and regardless of what road the team would take to replace him, I highly doubt anyone they bring in could replicate what he brings to the offense.
