  1. Truth. Lots of holes on the roster, and that includes the 'vaunted DL', which doesn't have enough rushers to come from both sides anymore. Its hard to see any light at the end of the tunnel too... I see maybe two keepers on the offensive line, and that includes Pugh who has had a terrible sophomore season. Wide receiver is a weakness if Cruz doesn't come back at 100%. The "linebackers".....HAHAHAhahaha..ha...ha.... okay, its not funny, they're just sad. Outside of maybe Kennard, maybe, there isn't a single guy worth keeping in that group. At least there are two very good cornerbacks on the roster, and the defensive line is still good although it isn't even remotely what it was in 2007.
  2. I'm not sure all the injuries are just bad luck. But come on guys, 'depth'? I don't think there's a team in the league (these days) that can weather the number of injuries the Giants have sustained the last couple seasons. The teams that win are the ones that stay relatively healthy.
  3. The fix was easy - stack the box and attack the read-option mesh points. Guys were crashing in on Lynch, but they were spaced so wide that they were irrelevant to the play anyway. It was garbage play design by Fewell.
  4. I don't know, some of the stuff I just heard yesterday about what Dez has already been offered indicates that the Cowboys aren't willing to give him a long term deal... I mean, he was offered a ten year contract, but with virtually no guaranteed money. It wasn't an endorsement of the kind of person they think he is.
  5. The Giants could use you out there Nas.
  6. No doubt, total Buddy Ryan move. Just looking at it as a cost/benefit thing. And I wouldn't call that a cheap shot at all. If the guy is faking being a ball carrier, then by rule he is fair game to be tackled. Every time a team fakes a read option, the QB needs to be ground into the dirt.
  7. I thought it was a brilliant play by Sherman. The way he used his leg to interfere-without-interfering was incredible. Eli's only bad pass of the day too.
  8. Eh, sometimes the contain guy read the play wrong and crashed down, but a lot of the time they just weren't even lined up right to contain anybody. My opinion on the read option crap is that a base defense with good gap discipline should be adequate, but better still is to attack the mesh points and hit the QB regardless of where the ball goes. But the Giants were trying something else yesterday... the guy with contain was reading the play from way off the ball. And it worked in the first half too, but Seattle figured it out. It was a poor attempt, I think they were lucky it worked as well as it did in the first half. It was pure read and react crap, I hate that. On the bright side, if that game plan doesn't get Fewell fired, nothing will.
  9. LOL, I don't think Roethlisberger would be the QB I choose to cheap shot. Dude is huge.
  10. Not advocating this, but strictly pragmatically speaking I wonder if it wouldn't be "smart" to swallow 15 yards once or twice just take some real cheap shots on those scrambling QBs early in the game.
  11. Yeah, I noticed that too. It started looking like the old offense right at the end of the three game win streak. Eli had a damn good game that week and the Giants won, but everyone was healthy, and the pocket, for once, was clean. I'm not sure thats entirely on McAdoo though, I think Eli got a little too comfortable and fell back into some old habits. And now the team is decimated by injuries, so who the hell knows what we really have on offense. If a couple of those WRs don't turn out to be keepers then this season is completely shot - neither contention or development for the future. (...Except for ODB, but this team needs a hell of a lot more than one wide receiver. )
  12. yeah, I felt for him. You could see it on his face during the game that he knew it was slipping away.
  13. field awareness too... Randle and Manningham (who was even worse) never seem to know where they are on the field.
  14. I saw Randle go up and catch a pass over a cornerback.... once.
  15. If we have to run a conservative give-up play, I'd rather see some form of screen pass. Its not a bad time for a bubble screen if the defense is playing conservative too. And hell, run some 9s up the sideline and toss one up to whichever WR is singled up. I have zero problem with INTs deep down field on 3rd and long.
  16. But they always let those guys off the hook when the flag gets dropped on a play they didn't mean to challenge. I think I've seen a flag for that once ever.
  17. ::cough::Urlacher::cough::Armstead::cough::
  18. Tempest, other than the 3rd and Long Hillis draw play, I agree.
  19. And yeah, wtf, Tom Coughlin made himself look like it was time to retire on that slow challenge flag. Move it fuckin old man!
  20. eh, Hilton is pretty jacked. He's the new Steve Smith.
  21. (and I don't count a first round playoff loss as 'going anywhere').
  22. true.... but in my opinion you need to attack the quarterback regardless of the health of the secondary. Most of the time, Fewell seems content to play a base defense almost all game. Prince has developed into a very underrated cover corner. I'm not throwing in the towel, but man, its hard to see this team going anywhere without three of the top five corners on the roster. I think the games against San Francisco and Dallas are very winnable though. Fan speaking, but I think we're looking at 5-6 with a chance to win out. Early exit from the playoffs, yeah baby!
  23. If they're going to score anyway, and these days thats a given, then the best defensive philosophy is to be as aggressive as possible - either you'll succeed in interrupting the drive or you'll give up a quick score. And better a quick score than giving up a TD after a 15 play drive, because that wears out your defense and prevents them from being effective later in the game.
