  1. If we think we have the next franchise QB available at #2 in this draft, then I say we take him. If not, trade down and stock up on OL, LB, and DBs in the draft. You don't simply pass on a potential franchise QB, particularly with your current QB winding down his career, and given the uncertainty around Webb (we don't know what Webb is).
  2. Rosen is good, but I worry about his health and durability.
  3. Darnold and Rosen arent exactly cant miss type prospects in the mood of the 04 Class.
  4. Also consider the strong possibility that either the Colts, Browns (with their #4), Broncos, Bucs, could all potentially draft Barkley....so we very well may not be able to trade down and still get him, if we want him. Best case scenario is one of those teams trades with us and we draft Orlando Brown, OT, and pick up a boatload of other picks, including a 2nd rounder.
  5. I'd prefer we trade down and pick an OL, considering the four holes we have at that position, and as you said, likely not all can be filled via FA alone (at least, not all in one year). I'm very weary about selecting RBs very high, without the requisite offense line. Guys like Gurley, Elliot, Kamara etc all play behind very capable offensive lines, and Kamara is more of a pass catching back than all round RB.
  6. I have a feeling that if we don't take one of these two QB's, we'll end up regretting it. Right now, I don't see anyone else worth taking at the #2 spot (whether it's RB, OL or elsewhere). I'm open to trading down though, particularly since we have so many gaping holes on the OL, and to a slightly lesser extent at LB and CB. Either way, trading down or not, QB or not, I still say we need to fill 4 starting OL spots this offseason, and I don't think we can automatically assume round 3 or later draft picks are starters this year.
  7. That's true, but I also don't envision the rookie QB starting this year (or if he does, it will be because we suck so bad that we're not making the playoffs anyway) because Eli should still be around. Either way, OL is definitely an offseason priority, but there are currently no #2 worthy OL that I've seen (I'd be willing to trade down though), and Darnold or Rosen may be too good to pass on. Practically speaking, I lean towards drafting Rosen because I think the giants are more than just a few FA/Draft moves away from making the playoffs, and the playoffs next year, given the state of our O-Line especially, are unlikely in my view. Draft the potential QB of the future, then this offseason and next build around him. We need to sign/draft 3-4 starting capable OL anyway, this year and/or next. We really only have one okay starter on this roster (Brett Jones) and currently 4 open OL positions.
  8. I will say - after the Louisville/Miss State bowl game, I definitely hope we DO NOT draft Lamar Jackson.
  9. On Mayfield, I think if he were 6'4 or taller, he would be considered by front offices to be a top 10 pick, which to me (given his mobility) means he's a top 10 worthy pick. 6'1 QBs can make it in this league, especially ones that are mobile.
  10. Can't look at stats alone. In fact, they can be very misleading. Check out some game film via youtube on them (not highlights, but play by play game film). Right now, I lean towards Rosen due to better decision making, poise in pocket, and what I see as slightly better passing form (lots of overthrows or passes floated by Darnold). Though, my caution on Rosen is, the past two years he's been somewhat injury prone. People say he has some character/personality concerns as well. Darnold may turn out fine, but as of right now, I think Rosen is better. That could change as the draft/offseason combine and workout process proceeds.
  11. Cuts: Marshall, Jerry, Harris, Apple. Priorities: OL, LB, DB Note, I'm not set on Rosen and am open to trading down to acquire more draft picks. QB - Manning, Rosen, Webb. RB - Darkwa, Gallman, Perkins, Late round draft pick or low priced FA. WR - ODB, Shepard, Sign a veteran capable #3, WR #4, #5+ via late round draft or low priced FA and/or best on existing roster. TE - Engram, Ellison, Adams. OL - C Brett Jones, RG Fluker (Draft high and/or bring in three starting capable lineman to fill out the two T spots and the Guard spot). Flowers as backup or option of last resort at LT. Resign Pugh at for cheap on a one year "prove it" deal if you can, and put him at or LG. DE - JPP, Vernon, Moss, Okwara. DT - Harrison, Tomlinson, Thomas, late round pick or low priced FA for depth. LB - SLB Kennard (resign for cheap), MLB Goodson, WLB (Sign quality, starting capable FA), also sign quality FA depth. Draft high or mid-rounds at this position, and draft in volume. CB - Jenkins, DRC (at a significant pay cut, or sign starting capable FA), Cockrell (re-sign). Draft high or mid-rounds at this position, and draft in volume. FS - Adams, Thompson. SS - Collins, sign low priced FA or late round draft pick.
  12. I'm very luke warm on Darnold and Rosen (Darnold since he's somewhat error prone, and Rosen since he's had some injuries), but I think you go QB with the pick. Personally I prefer Rosen based on what I've seen so far, hoping he can stay healthy...so we also need to put a capable OL in front of him.
  13. Oh they didnt nix it; they botched it. They didnt submit the proper paperwork in time. http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2017/10/browns_failed_to_approve_trade.html
  14. Id like to take a chance with Teddy Bridgwater. Offer him 2 years 10 million for a prove it type contract. Trade Eli to Denver for a 3rd round pick.
  15. I've seen Rosen quite a bit. He's pretty good. His issue is he can't stay on the field though, and I worry with the beating he'll take in the NFL that will remain the case in his career. I haven't seen enough of Darnold or Lamar Jackson yet. Baker Mayfield is okay. I didn't think he was anything special.
  16. And his career with the Giants is likely done....cementing his status as Eli Lemon.
  17. Eli Lemon and Erica Flowers are effectively two big draft busts at this point. Maybe Eli Lemon has a chance to turn it around, given his athleticism and lack of reps, but right now he's not looking good.
  18. I take back everything I said about Flowers on this thread.
  19. I must have missed that. Was he the one who blew it on Sunday?
  20. After watching more this Sunday, Flowers has shown some improvement from earlier in the year...I'll grant him that. However, I still think he's C level at best, and he still needs to be flanked by a much better OL around him. And/or, if we can find an upgrade over him, we should take it.
  21. Hes a 4 million dollar special teams gunner on punt coverage at this point, lol.
  22. Eli Lemon is turning into the biggest top 10 pick bust for the giants since Ereck Flowers.
