  1. Not arguing that a one of them should've been kept at the time given the results...but if assigning blame to the coaches, you could argue they should've been kept to hopefully play well under a new regime here.  If blaming the player, you gotta wonder what the difference was here that they couldn't make it work.

The point on Hernandez potentially having a fire lit by his departure is valid.

Apart from Zeitler, the other 3 did nothing that made them worth keeping while they were here.

Can't keep going back revisiting guys who might now be doing better elsewhere. They are gone for a reason.

But is the reason on the player who didn't perform or the coaches who put them in shitty positions or couldn't communicate plays effectively?

Yeah, we uad to move on, but it is curious the player did well enough to be drafted/signed here and soes well enough now...but didn't do well here.

I don’t think we should pull the starter if the starter is part of our plans, because he needs the reps too.

but I’d like to see less Xavier McKinney and more of the backups like Belton and Owens.

I would showcase the shit out of McKinney to try and boost any sort of compensatory pick we may be awarded after his departure.

  4. From the way Barkley is talking lately, I get the sense he isn't coming back anyhow.

I kinda get the sense that this season was a half hearted, let's go for it all season.  I feel they were planning on blowing it up, but then we overachieved, record-wise at least, last year and they figured on running it back with Barkley and Jones...but ignoring critical positions.

Now with some cap space, a top 3 or 4 pick...it is that time.

  5. I don't see us out-losing to the Panthers...so say at best we are at #2.

So Bears are gonna pick 1st given they have Carolina's pick.  They either give up on fields or trade back.  As good as Harrison is, you gonna pair him with Fields as a 1st overall?  Gotta believe a QB is going 1st...whether to Bears or someone else...and it is gonna be the USC QB...Williams, I think it is.

So assuming we don't fuck this up by winning a game we should not be interested in winning but due to some idiotic pride bullshit we probably will...but I digress...if picking 2nd...we either take Maye..let him ride bench for year and let him takeover after Jones or when Jones is inevitably injured.  Or, we take the best OT and move Neal inside for a test run in 2024.  Or, we take Harrison at WR to pair with Jones for a year.  Or we trade back and let someone take Maye.

Personally, today, I am in either the trade back camp and pick up Penix or Harrison...but that's only if we make big plays in free agency on the offensive line.

  6. Not sad given our offense.  Wasn't all his fault, but he isn't blameless either.

Could be writing on the wall for a new QB too.  Having a high pick, a solid LT, and a year to groom the new QB to take over are all big time selling points to get whomever you want.

  7. Don't think 2x SB MVP and +.500 winning % are mutually exclusive.

Eli is a Giants icon, despite many in the fanbase, myself included who believe he was above average, clutch at opportune times, and an iron man of a player...but also inaccurate at times and just as good as some of the guys who were also in his draft class when it came down to it.

I won't disparage him and think he will be in HoF, but I am not gonna be on yhe front championing that cause either...

  8. High class and realistic...he knew those questions were gonna come and likely had some idea how he wanted to respond the night he got injured.

That said, class and decency don't mean shit when you're staring down a receiver, throwing picks, holding onto the ball too long, or can't stay healthy.  Is it all his fault, no...but he is very much culpable in this debacle of a season and in the 5 years he has neen here.

He got drafted as Eli 2.0 due to off field demeanor and on field potential.  Of those two things, he's nailed 1 of 2.  But the one he nailed is the gravy on a pretty shitty pile of potatoes.

^^^This is the non "knee jerk reaction" solution, along with signing Minshew or some other vet to get us through 2024. We're going to suck balls from now thru mid 2026, maybe early '27 regardless. Plan accordingly. Then take Arch Manning in the 2025 draft. It's all gonna fall into place, just watch.

Bears might fuck it up tho with two picks in the top 3.  Could take a OT and Harrison and roll with Fields easily enough...but that puts a QB not named Caleb of our choice there for the taking...
