Scramble the first time, for some reason they left Cager on Crosby who broke threw the middle.
He was moving to his right out of the pocket, and tried to cut upfield and then just buckled.
The next play he just tried to drop back and his knee just gave out, no one was near him.
If you remember what Lavar Arrington did when he went down, pretty much like that, non contact.
They were immediately talking torn ACL with confirmation expected today to he degree of the tear and surgery upcoming. He is shelved for 2023 and will likely miss most, if not all of the 2024 offseason. Opening of 2024 may even be a longshot depending on severity.
Takes the guessing out of the 1st round pick...and that sucks..cause we could've at least hedged the cost of potentially trading up by already having Jones. Now the world knows we need to draft a QB...and will charge us accordingly

Jesus Christ we're pathetic
Offensively, in a league that is literally designed to favor offenses, we are remarkably pathetic.
101/9 = 11.22 ppg
And we have Dallas, in Dallas, who put a 40-0 on us in week 1 with all our starters, on our home field. Let's not forget we still have Philly 2x.
The ppg could very well drop further.

PPG will go up substantially when Andrew Thomas returns.
Or not...we have scored the least points in the league. We have scored 25 fewer points than the next closest team, the Jets, who have actually played two fewer games at the time of this post.
Also have worst point differential in the league.

I don't think it's that complicated.
If we draft a QB, Jones will be around for one more year until we can cut him with cap savings in 2025.
At this rate he'll likely be a backup.
And with that realization, maybe he restructures accordingly?
But yeah, we failed him and he failed us. If this year has shown anything, it's that here is plenty of blame to share

I don't see how it's mishandling.
The #1/#2 QBs are hurt, not many teams can survive that.
But not like the Giants were surviving even before then.
If anything I don't know why Schoen hasn't brought someone else in besides DiVito other than just not wanting to spend cap space lol
I agree that we have a solid #2 QB...problem is he is our #1.
We have no cap space...like none...right now. Because of all the injuries and the need to field a team. Hence Williams trade

I said to my son and dad before kickoff that this game may be the last one of Jones's career.
Would not shock me. Also, the conspiracy theorist in me says the Giants put him in a royally shitty position on purpose because they learned early he is not the guy and injury is easiest way to get out from that contract.

His knee had nothing to do with his neck The injuries are completely unrelated
I just can’t believe how bad this team looks on almost every play
While I agree that they're separate, I am not gonna pretend that Jones was 100% or even close coming into this one.
Now Hyatt and Neal are dinged too. Just sucks all around.

More injuries
Still can't believe they threw Jones out there...he clearly was not ready. That's one of those decisions that gets coaches fired. I like Daboll and want him around, but that was a bunch of bullshit. Jones was equally foolish thinking he was going to do anything other than getting injured more
-
So now we go for it deep in our own side of field...dont get it and gift them a FG at best?
I understand trying things knowing it's a lost cause, but why deviate to things you would never do in that situation
-
That said...Devito has yet to have a pass dropped

Ok. Why go for 2? And what the fuck was that play
Might as well see if Danny B can pass so we can keep SB at RB when Devito ultimately gets hurt
But going for 2 is dumb. No point.

And fantastic. I mean like $3500 fantastic. Maybe they make a push in the 2nd half
of 2024?

Maybe he sported a Hoss' jersey to take advantage of both sides?

I took the under 37.5 on today's game, and the Raiders at -1.5.
I wish there was an over under on when DJ gets knocked out of the game: 2nd quarter I'd bet.
Well done.

I shouldn't have said off season, I think they'll try to sign in before end of season.
Yeah...they would be stupid not to try given they gave up picks for the guy
-
Said it before...Thibs needed to show he could set an edge, shed a block, and either make the tackle or force the guy back inside. He has started to do just that.
Will be interesting to see effect of LW loss on the other guys.

Hopefully we let our new kicker ... you know ...kick

I know, I know...every year there's an interim HC appointed and they come in with fire and end up flamed out, but man, looking at the clip of his presser you gotta wish he was your coach. You gotta hope he stays on after the interim. You gotta root for him (even though it's the Raiders). I loved him as a Giant, and considering our season, I almost wish he wins just because of the feel good story....almost.

Didn't watch the presser but always like AP as a player.
Still root for Giants, but yeah, if AP gets his 1st win and Giants get a better draft pick given our season so far...will not be too broken up over it.
Along same lines, I almost want to see Crosby break DJ in half just so Giants can realize and experience the true jackassery they've created by rushing Jones back and keeping the passer who isn't allowed to pass on the active roster....almost.

4 weeks til bye...guessing 4 weeks of sick time to get 6 weeks off sounds too good to pass up

Yeah that's the Vegas Odds, but I think this Front Office/Organization legit thought we were a playoff team going into the season. They probably thought they beefed up the offense with Waller, Campbell, Hyatt, plus bringing back Barkley. They thought the OL would take a leap (e.g. Neal, Ezeudu, Bredeson), and JMS would come in and be a reliable starter right away...which is why they made no tangible OL moves in free agency, other than a backup Center...the same wishful thinking of the last 9 years. They disregarded the injury prone risk of Jones (and Taylor).
The defense I can't really get on. They put it together as the season has gone on, despite rookies in the secondary, despite gaps at DE, etc. It's the offense and the OL particularly that's the problem.
Finding Hawkins in the later rounds and having him flash enough to be a starter as well as Flott coming into a solid 3rd CB has a ton to do with the defense. That should pay off big time in next couple years as long as their health prevails. Need to develop pass rush some more and I think they're set for a solid 2024.
But yeah, as surprisingly good as the defense has been, the offense has been that much worse and that falls on the offensive line and QB.

I don't think sweat is a rental. I think they will sign him in the off season
Before free agency? Maybe...but takes two to tango and maybe he isn't interested. I am sure he will jave interest from multiple teams in free agency

Nope we signed Matt Barkley.
He'll light it up.
What's better than one Barkley?
-
If Sweat doesn't sign an extension, it is only a half year rental. Makes you wonder why...and whether playing opposite Allen and Young in Wash. was his ticket to success.
The trade of Minnesota's OG Cleveland for only a 6th makes me wonder why the Giants wouldn't have considered it given we suck and he is good...but oh well. Guess it doesn't pay to get good players when you are tanking.
-
Not a fan of the dead money in 2024...but like the picks and he wasn't coming back in 2024 anyway...so guess it's fine.
And yeah, hope this is tip of the iceberg. Barkley and Jones could probably go too. Steelers might be a taker for Jones with Pickett being iffy at best.
An Ode to Jones.

I think Jones looking and acting like Eli had a lot to do with his being (over)drafted. Not talentless, but not great either.
Stick a fork in him...
