Then we should draft Burfict... for the sole purpose of ending Vick's career
Vick is doing well enough accomplishing that on his own.
-
-
Nothing that can't be easily replaced though.
Agreed they can be replaced...not so sure on the 'easily' part of it.
-
With Thomas, Manningham, and Jacobs leaving...coupled with injured TEs...and our skill positions are taking a pretty good hit this offseason. Creates a need for Jernigan, Barden, Ware, Scott all to step up in a big way.
-
Sucks...was hoping he'd be back, but I understand the cap implications we must be under right now.
-
Here you go here's some, I'd rather draft one but here are a few...
Ernest Graham.
Joseph Addai
Jackie Battle
Michael Bennett
Cedric Benson
Ronnie Brown
Thomas Clayton
Justin Forsett
Kevin Faulk
Ernest Graham
Ryan Grant
Jerome Harrison
Tim Hightower
Thomas Jones
Mewelde Moore
Maurice Morris
Jerious Norwood
Chester Taylor
LDT - Tomlinson
Derrick Ward
Cadillac Williams
There's two guys in the league with the name Earnest Graham?
I wouldn't be completely pissed at a Mewelde Moore, who was used sparingly by Pittsburgh behind Mendenhall...or a Tim Hightower if he's healthy. But yeah, definitely leaning towards a draft pick at this point.

This begs the question as to what FA RBs are still available....
-
Giants must have really, really lowballed him for him to sign a 1 year deal on the other coast
-
I seen this the other day, I am not sure what significant pieces we have lost? Manningham? Jacobs, who rushed for 35 yards a game?
McKenzie unless he's brought back at vet min and doesn't get offers elsewhere, Ross, Goff (until further notice)
-
Gotta believe it's Smith's last opportunity before the rest of the league writes him off.
-
Steve Smith (former Giant, former Eagle) to Rams

You can be a moron and still play football extremely well. Medicore football smarts does not a genius make.
-
I think Parcells should just sit it out...for the hall of fame reasoning alone. A consultant, sure. A coach, no.
-
Who'd the Packers lose that they got 2 4th rounders?
-
I just think he currently is better than Prince and leaps and bounds above any of the other scrubs.
As of today, I'd agree. By the time the season rolls around, I think Prince will be ready. But even if Prince is not as good as Ross was, one, I think he will be eventually and two, the dropoff from Ross to Prince in the short-term is not so significant as to cause a need to pay Ross what he got from the Jags.
-
Would still like Goff back.
-
I think that's what will happen...no one is going to pay Jacobs what he wants.
Even if teams beat the Giants offer, they'll have to beat it enough to get Jacobs convinced moving him and his family is worth it. Now, if that other team is the Jets, then that's obviously a moot point.
But yeah, seeing no interest at all in Jacobs to this point, it's easy to jump to the conclusion he'll be back in blue. Then again, FA RBs are only starting to garner interest/visits.

Same
Plus we got Bruce Johnson, Michael Coe, Brian Witherspoon, and Justin Tryon to compete for the 4th and 5th CB spot.
Like it's been mentioned, the loss of Ross and Manningham can be absorbed by guys already on the team...or at least the team thinks so. What I'm trying to say is that the Giants are prepared to replace Manningham with Jernigan or Barden and replace Ross with Prince. Now, if either of those guys don't step up into the role they've been drafted for, it's a problem. But the team has made the appropriate steps/decisions to put themselves in position to move on without them.
Same might be able to be said about Goff, but to a lesser extent.
Jacobs release is the one that I don't know that we're really all that prepared for.
-
I woulda gave up a 4th for him.
That's the point...I think the list is lengthy of folks who would have done so...which begs the question, why the Texans didn't ask for more from the Eagles than just a 4th...which is why Giants fans are pissed off
-
Whoa.... what the hell happened to Demeco Ryans? I remember him being one of the few bright spots for the Texans a couple years ago.
If he's the player I recall then thats a huge steal for the Eagles. Brandon Marshall is so overrated.
Ryans tore an Achilles in 2010 and only played a portion of the season. He was injured a good part of last year as well. With Mario Williams playing some LB and Cushing playing well too, so that's all part of it. But given the Texans STILL took a cap hit as a result of the trade because of some signing bonus, I think the Texans got schooled on this trade.
Ryans is still young and still has time to fully recover from his injuries, so long as the Eagles don't automatically clear him medically ala Steve Smith.
I can't say Brandon Marshall is overrated on the field, but as a teammate, as a person, as a human...I'm not a baggage guy when it comes to the players I want on my team. So yeah, I agree, I think the Eagles got the bigger steal here.
-
..Brandon Marshall to Bears?
Eagles gave up a 4th this year and swapped 3rds with Houston this year.
Miami got 2 3rd-round picks for Marshall.

Not a middle linebacker anyway, but since it's linebacker related and I didn't want to make a new thread for it, here's a tweet:
Motivated 2b GREAT by cap @JustinTuckNYG91... They gonna love me for my AMBITION... 7 Months out #DontCountMeOut#ROAD2RECOVERY!!
What the hell does that even mean?

Ross, imo, was a below average CB. He benefited from a defensive line that pressured QBs. Given he was a 1st rounder it's as close to a bust as it gets.. without being one.
not going to argue, but I couldn't disagree more.
-
20th overall pick in a mediocre draft class. For 20th pick, a disappointment. for that draft class, average performer..
Starter on two SB winning teams against one of the league's most potent passing offenses I think qualifies him easily as above average. While he may not have been pro bowl calibur, we certainly didn't win games in spite of him.
Giants sign db

Nothing more than depth/ST guys, though the 3rd S position is up for grabs with Deon Grant not being resigned. Kinda important with Fewell's 3 safety defensive package.
Wonder if the Groves visit is a move to kinda light a fire under Goff to get his ass back here and sign up.
