  1. I like the idea, but methinks that keeping them for a season would be long enough. Accumulate a season's worth, keep for the offseason, dump when the new season kicks off, repeat.
  2. 7x7=49 7x6=42 ??? Perhaps Blackburn is scored differently due to his being that damn good???
  3. Until JPP changes the way the GAME is played, not simply forcing opposing offenses to gameplan for him, LT will still win the comparison.
  4. It's reassuring news...still no reason to have him in the starting lineup week 1...keep him on a rehab and strengthening program
  5. Think it's safe to say one of our practice squad spots is alotted to a CB?
  6. Well yeah, nobody is saying to keep him back if he's ready to go. What's under debate I think is at what point does the team consider him ready to go. When he's cleared to practice, is he cleared for games? When he feels ready to go, is he cleared for all activity? I think that the point is to be extraordinarily careful this time around and take it slower than what's recommended by the docs to err on the side of caution, per se. So if in two weeks, he's cleared to practice, hold him back an additional two weeks simply to allow for strengthening of the ligaments. If he's cleared to practice a month from now, hold him back until week 2 or 3 of the regular season. In other words, make doubly damn sure that he's ready before putting him out there. Sure, it's always a risk and you're always one play away from the end of your season, but approaching it with the most extreme caution is my opinion of the way they need to proceed. That's all.
  7. Yes, I was looking at it from a draft perspective, not necessarily from hindsight. Hindsight would afford consideration not only off the field issues, but injury issues as well. Whereas Ben has found trouble off the field, he's also been dinged up over the years, and moreso as of late. Eli has had no issues off the field and has been the model of consistency as far as being able to line up on Sundays. Whether the Giants had information on whether or not Ben was a model citizen or not or whether the Giants had info on whether Ben would be injury prone...who really knows. But I think that it all points to the fact that the Giants made the right decision. But the nail in the coffin, for me anyhow, will be one more season like Eli had last year.
  8. latter part of the season might be a moot point if our secondary sucks the first part...just sayin
  9. I think if T2 doesn't make it through the season, he'll be cut and there won't be ANY re-signing necessary, especially with Prince and Hosley developing. I give T2 until week 3 or so...if he can't start by then, and play at a high level, he's off to IR and he'll be cut in the offseason. Hats off to the Giants for giving him a deal that gave the Giants the utmost flexibility while giving T2 a huge opportunity to prove he's completed the rehab process. The roster bonus next offseason will be the decision maker.
  10. I think that the extra picks would've only made us better than we've been. I agree, we wouldn't have gone for a kicker that high. We may not have popped on Merriman either. I guess the mindset is that given the Giants scouting and drafting, both pretty well by league's standards, that there could have been more talent here surrounding Ben than there was surrounding Eli. Again, another season like last and all debate will end.
  11. Eh, water under the bridge, but I wanted Gallery. I thought Collins still had a year or two left where he could've succeeded with additional protection. I'm glad we went the way we did, but I'll still say that I think we overpaid when you consider we could've gotten Roethlisberger without giving up any draft picks. I think Eli is definitely better than Ben. I do. But the real debate is whether he's all those extra picks better...another season like last and yeah, the chips will be in and all debate will cease for me. The only reason it exists now is that I think that Ben could have won two superbowls with us in the same time.
  12. No doubt that if he hits IR again this season that there's no way they're picking up the roster bonus in the Spring. They might offer to restructure to give him another year, but they're not picking up the 5 or 6 million tab...no way....and I wouldn't blame them. I
  13. Tough to say. I'm inclined to take Eli because of his coolness under pressure, but then again, when faced with the pressure of performing in the game's biggest game, Simms set the completion percentage record that still stands today if not mistaken. No doubt, Eli has better receivers to throw to. Both had great defenses playing along side them. The running game edge goes to Simms...but that could be more a factor of the way the game was played back then. I still think that I give the edge to Eli...but it's close for me.
  14. Given the choice of Grant or Sash, I'll gladly take Sash too. I like what I'm hearing out of Will Hill too and maybe this opens the door for him a bit more than it was before. But at the end of the day, we will need a body to fill the hole left by Sash making the poor choice he made and for 4 games, I don't know that Grant would be too bad an option.
  15. I'm trying to figure out if the 100% refers to health or effort.
  16. Opens the door for Deon Grant to return. I didn't think Grant would be back, but with T2 and now Sash, I have to believe that signing Grant for 4 games or half a season is probably a good move.
  17. You have to give a little, be it much less than the Giants or Eagles, respect to the Redskins of late for not playing fantasy football every offseason any more. Having Shanahan in there has done them a world of good...not necessarily from a talent/play perspective, but from an organizational/management perspective, he's made a positive impact for sure.
  18. Edging towards being over-optimistic if you ask me. I agree that confidence this year is, and should be, higher than last...but the offensive line is a real concern, the secondary hinges on T2's return, and while we've heard/seen glimpses of David Wilson...he hasn't done anything on gameday just yet. We have reason to be excited and we have reason to be happy about the moves we made in the offseason...but let's keep our emotions a bit in check.
  19. http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story/_/id/8196907/new-england-patriots-visanthe-shiancoe-reach-agreement-one-year-contract Shiancoe to the Patriots...to sit behind Hernandez and Gronkowski...questionable move on his part...but given the choice of there or Philly...I'd go to the Pats too.
  20. Serviceable backups...nothing to get too excited about. It isn't like we haven't ever signed a castoff from the Eagles.
  21. Yeah, it's pretty remarkable how senseless and out of touch Vick must be to let those words roll out. We all know Vick is an idiot. And we can all smile at the fact that the Eagles hitched their horse to Vick's cart. I can't see the Eagles winning a championship with Vick. I just don't. And frankly, I hope Vick plays just good enough for them to keep him around long enough to waste half of McCoy's and Jackson's careers.
  22. Agreed. Wilson will surpass Ware by season's end on the depth chart and may actually see more plays than Ware in the running game even early on. But obvious passing plays I think early on, will belong to Ware/Bradshaw. But until Wilson proves ball security and pass protection...I don't see him as our #2. Here's hoping that he's proven and learned by game 6...game 10 might be a bit long if the kid's as active a learner as he has been deemed
  23. I agree here except for offensive line. We were shaky last season. A complete offseason will help, but we're still dealing with inconsistency in personnel given Beatty's in/out, Brewer in/out, Locklear coming in...I think that the inconsistency is on the outside and I never really thought that Baas was the culprit. I believe it all starts up front and that without pass protection or adequate run blocking...I don't know. Like you said, confidence is much higher going into 2012 than 2011. I think that's the effect of a SB win. But at the same time, the SB win can sugarcoat some valid concerns. Defense especially, barring injury, should be vastly improved. The run defense with 3 LB as opposed to 3 S should be significantly improved. Secondary, with T2's return, Prince's development, and Hosley coming in...should be better off as well. Coverage, pressure, and run defense.
  24. The knock on Wilson from draft day was pass blocking and ball handling. The speed, quickness, receiving, and all else RB didn't ever seem to be an issue. Read an article on Giants101.com that pretty much spelled it out. IF Wilson can eliminate the fumbling and get pass protection down, it easily places him as the #2 RB on this team. Otherwise, he won't see the field much, barring injury, given that Bradshaw and Ware will both be ahead of him on the depth chart.
  25. For what we are paying him and for his being labeled one of the better centers in the league (at least he was marketed that way when he was a FA)...I don't believe there should have been as much of an issue integrating him as there was. McKenzie's play dropped off big time, our starting left tackle went on IR, and the left guard was in constant rotation due to the play of other positions. So it was a constant work in progress last year. I'm really hoping that the continuity of this offseason allows the line to gel. I believe too there are guys in the works, but I think those guys are Brewer and Beatty, the former who from what I've read, hasn't instilled a huge amount of confidence in anyone and the later, who was on IR last year with eye/back issues and may or may not be fully healed at this point, 10 days or so shy of training camp. Again, I think that there could have been some depth added beyond just Locklear. As for Jacobs, I think he still has another year or 2 left of solid play, expecially if the offensive line was more consistent. I don't disagree with drafting the RB, especially once it became apparent that Jacobs wasn't returning. But for the difference between what Jacobs wanted and what we were offering, I don't think that it was worth losing him. Sliding him to a backup role in the final year of his contract while giving the rookie more playing time...while Bradshaw starts...I feel was the better way to go. Leaving Andre Brown off the roster would have been completely accepable to me if talking roster spots for RBs.
