  1. Well...better to happen in 1st qtr than 4th.. Let's go!
  2. Let's hope it's nothing serious cause he is gonna be he lynchpin that takes the offense to the next level. I'm not gonna worry until he doesn't suit up.
  3. On the optimistic side, I have far more confidence in the secondary this year than last.
  4. Also my approach. I call it being realistic. That said, I think.we are perfectly capable of a 10 win season with the upgrades we have made. Two things really need to happen. First, defensively...the pass rush needs to improve or the secondary needs to get coverage sacks. With two rookie CBs and the passing attacks the NFL is seeing these days, I am not banking on the latter. Secondly, offensively, we need quick decision making from Jones. He has proven to be accurate when he knows where he is going with the ball. He has weapons. Kafka/Jones communication and prep will be huge. That quick decision making and quicker release was a big reason Eli developed beyond the early years and it's a step I think Jones can reasonably take this year. So yeah, tough division...but I'll max it out at 10 wins..
  5. All signs pointing that direction...guessing base defense is gonna involve 3 CBs/2 S anyhow given most offenses these days....which puts Jackson, Pinnock, and McKinney out there too. Will have growing pains, but I think there will be far more good than bad and it'll be way better in the long run. Tough test week 1...will the CBs hold up long enough for pass rush to affect Dak? Will our offense match up against Diggs and Parsons? We definitely have a shot, but I wouldn't bet on the Giants in this one...next matchup with all thongs equal I might if the guys continue to develop
  6. Campbell probably due to number of catches...but outside of Barkley and Waller, not sure any of these should be an early fantasy choice
  7. I am interested in the offense as a whole and its ability to hit multiple levels of the defense. Hyatt and Campbell have deep speed. Slayton can work long too. Waller, Campbell, Robinson can work the middle easily. Barkley or Campbell on short/screen games. But that all relies on the offensive line staying healthy. And I definitely think we are in the pass to open up the run mentality...but with receiving threats that must be respected, I think Barkley has a huge year. I think two things can hurt us offensively. Injuries is the obvious. Razer thin depth on the line is biggest concern. Secondly is if we overfocus on one guy...like Hyatt Waller or Barkley. If we stay healthy and spread the ball around...we have a real chance to improve on last year despite tougher schedule.
  8. No doubt that we should check on IOL at this point to see who might be available. I don't take too much from preseason, but we have like 1st and 3rd string guys for offensive line...better than a year ago by far, but perfectly set up for a stop gap vet to come in for a year.
  9. McFadden over Beavers, then again, maybe it was more Coughlin and Brown being ST guys that edged out Beavers Not sure that Peart should've gotten a spot. Time to go over the newly available an we if we can upgrade anywhere. And some of those Safeties might be able to play CB in a pinch, so might have value there.

    Cuts

Figured that was why Crowder was cut...was a little surprised we didn't put Crowder on KO or PR duty on preseason...he may just be done at this point

    Cuts

Agreed on DeVito...might have kept him over Tyrod

    Cuts

Sills and Fox are somewhat surprising...Sills likely just a numbers casualty. Also, I liked Corbin...shame there.

Wouldn't hate 4 TEs if we don't have a FB...but just feels like that spot could be used at DT or WR where we seem to have a number of guys we want to keep without a roster spot for them. Dunno...will be good with what Shoen does...he has earned trust

    Cuts

I am happy with Bellinger, Waller, Cager...I am guessing any one of them can lead block for Barkley if needed at FB. Not stoked at carrying 4 TE on active roster
  15. CWeb was a good one...that 2005, no? 2nd rounder the year after Eli?

In a way, kinda not bad he got hurt. Allows us time to build relationship and get him right an recovered. Keeps other teams from taking him off our practice squad...cause despite his play, I didn't see him cracking the top 6 WRs. Another chance next year for sure.

    Cuts

    Nobody unexpected yet.
  18. I think the Cards to a 7th cause everyone, including the Giants, knew he was gonna be released outright. Giants just paid a 7th so as not to compete with other teams when he was eventually let go
  19. Meh...not really. Dunno why I feel that way about JPP and not McKinney. And I am pretty sold on McKinney as a solid starter and a key piece to this defense. Of course, I felt the same about Love and Pinnock has stepped into that role. I am interested to see how the safeties improve with better CBs in front of them.
  20. I think about 80% of the NFL likely put all their eggs in the pro athlete basket. If fame, name recognition, and athletics were stripped away...they would be in a bad way. So yeah, McKinney made a pretty questionable choice too. Hell of a player and want him in blue for his career...but yeah, wasn't a smart thing to do
  21. Yeah, I read that too...as well as his not wanting to play LB and kinda forcing a position change. He is a hybrid, there is no doubt. When your 5th year doesn't get picked up and you get traded to a team with a good DC...you gotta think he's gonna put his best out there, no? Cause it's kinda vet min/career backup/ST guy if you fail here. I think with any players cut this time of year...there are reasons teams send them off..so there is risk. But I like that he has a chance to rewrite his history and we have a chance to take advantage of a hell of an athlete with a DC who knows where to plug him in
  22. I love the guy too as a player. Off the field it's a wonder he made it thus far.
