  1. While I agree he is special from both a talent and attitude perspective, I think the idea is to diversify the offense...with an improved line and receiving corp, one could argue he's not as necessary or at least not as much a focal point. There is a desire to move away from the opponents ability to "stop barkley, stop the giants" and I don't know that that is a bad thing.
  2. A lot rides on Neal this season, no doubt. Bellinger/Weller is a nice 1/2 at TE...both block and catch well and can create mismatches. I think Robinson ends up as slot guy only and we start with Slayton and Shep. Would not be shocked to see Hyatt in 3 WR sets early on. I think Barkley plays this season no matter what...but I am guessing that if he has to play on tag, he will make up his mind now that next year, he certainly will not unless Giants blow him away with an offer. And I think the Giants are far more okay with Barkley moving on next year than fans are.
  3. And likely knew he wasn't gonna get it...but also knew if he asked for top 15, he may end up around 20th highest paid. Typical negotiation. Think we ended up in a good enough spot.
  4. Cleveland? Really? Anyone know a Browns fan that does more than deliver refrigerators or mow grass at their trailer park to cover their lot rent?
  5. I'd even go 3 years, 48 mil, with 35 mil guaranteed with a void year on the end...while protecting the team against potential injury Throw in a few incentives here and there to bring it up to 50 mil over 3 years and I can live with that. If he balks at that, then tag him next year too just to be spiteful.
  6. Anything more than 11 per...might as well just tag him next year too. I am guessing it's the guaranteed number or total years that's the holdup. I'd be okay if they wrote it up as 90% of franchise tag each year of the deal...but likely can't be that ambiguous
  7. Giants have made it pretty clear where they stand...whatever the number might be. And for 2023, they're not all that interested in moving off that number. The crash in the market supplemented by drafting a RB...albeit not at Barkley's level...have given the Giants all the leverage. If I had to make a prediction, Barkley plays on the tag this year, Giants don't sign him him next offseason. Don't think Schoen is fixated on RB by committee, but don't think he is stuck on the idea of a bell-cow RB either.
  8. I love Barkley, but I am a fan of the Giants. Sign, don't sign. But if I'm the Giants, I'm not waiting around. I'd bring Cook in for sure and potentially trade Barkley if/when he does sign
  9. Thibs and the pass rush is a close 2nd. Was just okay last season...needs to take a big step forward this year. With and improved secondary, despite losing Love...which I think will hurt more than we realize...the pass rush should be better.
  10. Yeah...I think they should call his reps and see what he's looking for...but not holding any hope they get this one done...and yeah, I'm not looking to sign him for more than 3 years tops...at what, 20 mil per?...i dunno...thats gonna require a LW and AJ restructure...just a lot to try and pull off
  11. That said, if DJ has time...we finally have some pieces for him to take advantage of.
  12. I want to see the offensive line together the whole offseason/season. Consistency I think is a huge piece of the puzzle. Neal's improvement will be key. I think we will still be dedicated to the run, but knowing what Barkley brings is the thing. Getting timing down with the new guys seems to be priority...dont think it's an indication of type of offense
  13. Tempting...but would have to get real creative fitting him into the cap...and DJ wasn't one of his top 5...so media would likely blow that outta proportion. Watch the Eagles sign him
  14. 2nd bye and expand active roster...not just practice squad...but I think they still try to squeeze season in before Daytona 500
  15. Would love to hand Philly a loss on Christmas
  16. Along same lines...I think one of the most telling stats is how many of your picks are still on your team after 3 years
  17. Hindsight is 20/20. I think most of us think DG was fine at first and not a bad hire. I'd go so far as to say most of us liked Judge too for a bit...until he started manufacturing blame where it wasn't instead of simply accepting criticism and fixing it. Initial hires weren't terrible...but failed to live up to their billing. Biggest issue was reluctancy to change from an organization standpoint and failing to admit mistakes. Nothing wrong with ownership coming out and saying we like what we did, but it isn't working out...but Giants are loyal to a fault and it showed.
  18. 4 year, 90 mil extension. 60 mil guaranteed https://giantswire.usatoday.com/2023/05/04/new-york-giants-sign-dexter-lawrence-to-massive-contract-extension/
  19. Not a bad depth guy and can probably be decent on ST. If not, no real financial commitment to worry about.
  20. I think 10-7 sounds about right. Very possible to split the division and be 3-3 there...2-0 against Wash. and 1-3 against Dallas/Philly. 3-1 against NFC West and 2-2 against AFC East gets us to 8-6. Saints/Raiders/Packers should be 3-0, but we inexplicably lose one there...call it 2-1.
  21. Ford-Wheaton is a guy I thought about in the 7th.
  22. I don't remember hating the pick, but it didn't take long to realize NY wasn't for him...or his mom who couldn't seem to shut her trap
  23. I'd still like a S or G with later picks...Ibrahim or Bigsby if they drop would be awesome at RB. Skinner at S is a guy who I think could fin a spot on this team. Still like Voorhees at G...everything I read on him reminds me of Dave Diehl...experience across the board...average to slightly above starter, but one hell of a backup.
  24. Rds 1-3 are home runs for me. Had Porter/Branch over Banks in 1st, but to pull a physical CB and follow that up with these 2 picks tonight...I couldn't be happier with how this shook out
  25. There's gotta be a bigger story around Levis that hasn't been broken yet. I read rumblings of his telling people prior to the draft starting who was going to take him and how that skewed betting lines, but nothing beyond that.
