  1. that's exactly what i'm saying though. you're right the scheme was awful and madison didn't play like an all pro, but he certainly wasn't bad. but at least he showed me something. webster showed absolutely nothing, nothing that i can say he can build on or grow into. as i said, we'll see how he does in the new scheme. just remember, the scheme is only part of it. you have to be accountable as players too.
  2. nope...that's the beauty of football, you can cut whoever you want whenever you want. the only thing guaranteed are signing bonuses, and lavar signed an incentive laden deal, so there wasn't much money up front. we could've actually saved more money if lavar was on the team i think, however get him out, i don't care. i don't want guys like that playing for the new york giants. as for luke, i don't think he'll be resigned, if they were gonna do that, they would have just restructured his deal. why would you cut him, and have the possibility of another team signing him, if you were interested in bringing him back? that doesn't make any sense to me. maybe there is a reason for this relating to injury, maybe he wasn't able to come back at full strength.
  3. yeah, i see what you're saying with finn i guess, it's a valid point. i just don't know who we'd get to replace him. as for webster, i really don't think the guy is ever gonna be anything, just my opinion. maybe it would be foolish to cut him now from a logical standpoint, but i think it's really just delaying the inevitable. we'll see. i'm not bashing the guy because it's fun, i really want to see him do well, he just hasn't showed me anything to this point. hey, if the guy comes out and plays great next year, i'd be thrilled.
  4. the funny thing is i heard ea on the fan, and he was praising reese like you wouldn't believe. but he basically said how they see on the same page, and i really thought reese was going to follow in ea's footsteps with some bonehead moves, however, he has certainly began to prove me wrong. i didn't hate ea as bad as a lot of you guys did, but i didn't think he was great either. but so far, reese is making him look like shit! this is exactly what this team needs. a guy who takes no bullshit, and has a system in place that he follows in order to have continued success. the best part is, even if the giants have a good year this year, i don't think reese would feel inclined to bring coughlin back if there is someone better out there. i don't hate coughlin either, so don't get me wrong, but in no way do i think he is the long term solution to this team, and i don't see him coming back next year, unless the giants won the superbowl . maybe this is all part of a long term plan for reese, and these roster moves are a way of ensuring the next coach that he'll do whatever is necessary to help this team win. i like it.
  5. i highly doubt strahan's job is in any jeopardy ....as for finn, i don't see why some of you guys have such a big problem with him. the guy has been solid for us. you don't need to have an all pro fb, i just don't see that as a pressing need to any team really. just someone who can get the job done. especially if we're going to be using jacobs as the main back. all finn has to do is open some holes and jacobs will be able to "bruise" his way through. personally i think a fb would be more important to a finesse type runner like tiki, and he seemed to do just fine. and last but certainly not least, corey webster. i don't understand how anyone could possibly think this guy has shown anything so far. to me, he is currently looking like one of the biggest bust picks the giants have ever taken in recent memory. yes he gets playing time, but that's not b/c he shows any skill, it's really by default since we have no one else. anyone who defends webster please please enlighten me on anything the guy has done, in the regular season that is. i'm not saying this to be a dick here, i would seriously like to know if this guy has ever made a play besides the 1 joke pick he had this year. yes, this guy has 1 pick in 27 games! coming out of college, it was said that although he's not a great tackler or cover corner, he made up for it with his unbelievable athletic ability, and his hands. well, guess what? not only does he not have any hands at all, he can't tackle or cover either. so, if you think it was the scheme and tl, we'll see... if he's still here that is. i seriously doubt that was the reason.
  6. i would like to see chad morton, tim carter and corey webster out....they may cut madison as well. or maybe rw. i know he's up there in age, but i'd much rather play madison than webster any day of the week. webster must go. thoughts??
  7. stray will be here. he deserves to be. the guy can still play, and there's no point in replacing him if you don't have someone who will play better. kiwi has very nice potential, but i just don't think he's ready to take over the reign in terms of being as effective as strahan. sure he's more athlectic than strahan at this point, but strahan plays the run much better, and still commands respect, and forces teams to double him.
  8. i know we have nice cap space, but i cannot see any way, whatsoever we get both clements and samuels. and i still think gibril will be there as well
  9. so what's the deal with morton? is that official? at least we're finally starting to weed out these bums who are hurting the team. maybe we can get some guys who aren't injury prone, and have a fire to play every down. i have to say, i'm liking these moves. i'm still puzzled by cutting luke, but maybe we have a plan, we'll see, i give reese the benefit of the doubt. i'll tell you what, ea would have never cut luke p or arrington, just my two cents. maybe reese has some balls, and doesn't feel obligated to bring back high priced trash just because of their name. hopefully he can draft better than ea as well.
  10. good get that waste of sperm emmons out of here. no more eagles castoffs please. you know they were laughing at that move the whole time.
  11. i'm with you bro...arrington i could really give 2 shits about, but luke p. c'mon this is ridiculous. listen i'm all for getting a new lt, but i really don't think guy whimper is ready to step in and replace luke p. as a matter of fact i don't know if he ever will be. why not cut him when we have someone waiting in the wings who is capable of coming in and being effective? i don't get this move....
  12. uhh yeah that's horrible news. i hope he's back.
  13. listen...it's easy for everyone to pick out eli's flaws. sure there's more than i'd like to see, but i still think he can be a star in the nfl, i do not care what anyone else or any analyst thinks they know. as far as i'm concerned each year his comp % has steadily improved from a 48 to a 52 then to a 58. his picks have also been a concern however i think over time they will decrease. now let's take a look at peyton's frist few years in the league peyton manning: YEAR TEAM G CMP ATT PCT YDS AVG TD LNG INT RAT 1998 IND 16 326 575 56.7 3739 6.5 26 78 28 71.2 1999 IND 16 331 533 62.1 4135 7.8 26 80 15 90.7 2000 IND 16 357 571 62.5 4413 7.7 33 78 15 94.7 2001 IND 16 343 547 62.7 4131 7.6 26 86 23 84.1 2002 IND 16 392 591 66.3 4200 7.1 27 69 19 88.8 these are impressive numbers no doubt, but look at how many picks this guy threw in his first five years. it took him that much time to start decreasing these numbers. there is no reason in my mind, to think eli won't eventually be able to do the same. factor in that eli is playing in windy giants stadium and peyton in a dome ( please don't tell me that doesn't make a difference because it does). just look at peytons stats this past year. at home 18 td's 2 picks, on the road 13 td's 7 picks. now in no way am i implying that eli will ever be as good as peyton, because he won't. however, i do think he will be an excellent qb, and one that will be able to lead this team to a super bowl. but the guy needs help from his defense. to me that is the real concern of this team, and i don't think this team will go anywhere, until we are able to fix it. now after eli has been in the league for five years( which i think is the right timetable to judge a qb) and has not progressed to become a top flight qb, then i'll be ready to admit that the giants made a mistake, and he has not turned out to be the qb that we thought he would. but i still support eli, and will continue to do so as long as he is a giant. maybe he'll never justify his hype, or his number 1 draft pick, but if can bring us a ring, than that stuff means nothing to me.
  14. i think it should and probably will look like this: 1) glavine 2) el duque 3) maine 4) perez 5) pelfrey i know a lot of you guys probably want to see humber get a shot, but i don't think he's ready yet. i want him to compile a lot of innings in the minors, and show me he can handle the workload injury free. as for glavine and el duque, i think we pretty much know what we're gonna get out of them. maine remains an enigma to me, as i don't think he'll be as good as last year, but i still think he'll be solid enough. one thing i noticed about him was his ability to breeze through the lineup the first time around, however only the first time he saw them, which is why he rarely seemed to go deep into the game. to me that says eventually his value will be greater in the bullpen, as we are able to fill out our staff. as for perez, i think he will be VERY up and down. i don't think he'll just revert to his rookie form and blow people away, like many met fans are hoping for. i don't really see a middle ground for this guy, yet that is...i think he'll either be very good, or very bad. pelfrey, we'll have to wait and see. just like humber, he hasn't had a lot of time in minor league ball, and i think that he needs to mature a lot and really develop second and third pitches he is comfortable with, to throw in any situation, before we can see his true potential. that being said, i still expect big things from this kid in the future. i still feel he should be in the rotation however, because if there is ever a time to bring a young guy up and not put too much pressure on him, it is now, with a lineup like this. he doesn't have to be great, he just has to improve as the season progresses. don't forget how much time guys like cole hamels spent in the minors before they were called up, so i often feel that is an unfair comparison. i think we will be seeing a lot of 6-4 type games this year , which is fine, i just hope this staff can be real solid come playoff time. what are your thoughts?
  15. i think it should and probably will look like this: 1) glavine 2) el duque 3) maine 4) perez 5) pelfrey i know a lot of you guys probably want to see humber get a shot, but i don't think he's ready yet. i want him to compile a lot of innings in the minors, and show me he can handle the workload injury free. as for glavine and el duque, i think we pretty much know what we're gonna get out of them. maine remains an enigma to me, as i don't think he'll be as good as last year, but i still think he'll be solid enough. one thing i noticed about him was his ability to breeze through the lineup the first time around, however only the first time he saw them, which is why he rarely seemed to go deep into the game. to me that says eventually his value will be greater in the bullpen, as we are able to fill out our staff. as for perez, i think he will be VERY up and down. i don't think he'll just revert to his rookie form and blow people away, like many met fans are hoping for. i don't really see a middle ground for this guy, yet that is...i think he'll either be very good, or very bad. pelfrey, we'll have to wait and see. just like humber, he hasn't had a lot of time in minor league ball, and i think that he needs to mature a lot and really develop second and third pitches he is comfortable with, to throw in any situation, before we can see his true potential. that being said, i still expect big things from this kid in the future. i still feel he should be in the rotation however, because if there is ever a time to bring a young guy up and not put too much pressure on him, it is now, with a lineup like this. he doesn't have to be great, he just has to improve as the season progresses. don't forget how much time guys like cole hamels spent in the minors before they were called up, so i often feel that is an unfair comparison. i think we will be seeing a lot of 6-4 type games this year , which is fine, i just hope this staff can be real solid come playoff time. what are your thoughts?
  16. i don't what it is. i know our offense will be fine, as will the bullpen. but i just have a bad feeling. it's not that our staff is that bad, but can we really compete with the big boys? yes it has some potential young arms that *could* step up and we know what to expect from glavine and duque, but is that enough? i'm really not sure. i don't know maybe it's just all the years of suffering as a met fan, that doesn't allow me to feel confident. maybe it's that the phills have gotten a lot better...on paper that is. i'm not really worried so much with the reg season, it's the playoffs. even if the phills managed to overcome us, which is possible, (they have been extremely close to making the playoffs the past few years, and they have to get in eventually right?) i still feel we'll make it. what do you guys think? anyone else feel this way? someone boost my confidence for this upcoming season!!!!
  17. let me say this...jared jeffries will be fine... coming off the bench that is. a mid level is not that bad for this guy , he can help a team, but he should be doing it at the number 7 0r 8 guy. lee should def be starting and him and curry *need* to be in the game at the same time. why can't isiah see it? when we had all the suspensions, this team was finally starting to play well. why is that? coincidence? i don't think so. guys like nate "the flashy joke" robinson and jeffries should have no vital part on this team. start lee isiah.
  18. while i agree to a certain extent, i feel that luke's injury had a much bigger effect on eli's play. he was having a very solid season before he went down. i do remember amani saying that he is "definitely" coming back in an interview i read, i just hope he comes back strong. lubeck that video brought me back like 18 years ago man...absolutely hysterical!!!
  19. i like cw, however i really want to hire a defensive guy as our next coach. i really want to get back to the smash mouth style football that this team used to play....
  20. hahaaa, fucking hilarious! i hope he's gone too, but i'm sure bc is a little bit smarter than to make that worthless sack of shit their head coach. don't worry, he'll be back next year in full effect, not helping eli devolop.
  21. i definitely agree about plax, although i do like his talent. he is too soft, shows no heart and tends to drop easy passes. he also never tries for more yards, almost always avoiding contact and going down. that being said however, randy moss i do not believe is the answer. sure, he is better than plax, but has the exact same attittude as plax, with just as little heart. the guy walked off the field during a play. it doesn't get much worse than that. as for the rest of this team i have given the defense a "pass" if you will up until this point b/c of the injuries. now that's gone. they better step it up today. i do not feel that way about the offense since we are relatively healthy. the offense needs to be simplified. huffy needs to pull his head out of his ass and realize what he's working with. this is very similar to how the defense was performing in the beginning of the year. we then simplified the play calling and look what happened. maybe it's time for huff to realize eli needs the simplification as well, b/c he can't handle the plays they have designed for him right now. this season is not over, by any means. this team better realize that and play with a sense of urgency. if there is ever a time to get hot, it's down the stretch, and that time would be right now........
  22. i couldn't agree more. things change in the nfl real quickly. and to me, if we had avoided these injuries we would still be in first place. everyone was dogging dallas a few weeks ago, praising us, and look what happened. all that matters is we finish up strong, and we have an edge with our division record. hopefully everyone can stop annointing romo as the next "great" qb in this league. the guy has played 5 fucking games.
  23. hahaha, "we had a chayance to beat y'all" what a damn hick. this is the funniest thing i've seen in weeks.
  24. oh fuckin stop with this shit already. everyone and their mother was prepared to take eli if they had the #1 pick, it was a consensus choice. that was admitted by many gm's. espn, nfl network etc. was all over him when he was coming out of college. just because now he is playing poorly, everyone makes it seem like they knew this was coming. look, as much as i and many others have been extremely dissapointed in eli as of late, there is absolutely no way he is this bad of a quarterback. he may turn out to be a bust or he may turn out to be a superstar, who the fuck knows right now. but he is definitely not this bad. i guarantee that.
  25. well at least we are starting to get some guys back. i feel this team can still be very dangerous if healthy...i don't care who writes us off, when we are healthy we are a very good team.
