  1. I watched it at my friends house. The linemen were a snooze. I like that center from Ohio State, Goldman or something like that. But I like O Hara too. As far as the combine was concerned, the most interesting thing I heard was Cutler getting 23 reps with the weights. Even Coughlin was falling asleep.
  2. Well, he is my bold pick of the year
  3. Maybe I was a bit too optimistic and biased there, at least with the stats.
  4. Same for me. I guess it wouldn't be the end of the world but it's basically a major thing we have over other sports, like baseball.
  5. That's what I was thinking. All I know is pitching in spring training is a lot harder then hitting. So I'm not too worried about Billy.
  6. Okay but how does this happen? Like Blue jeans gets into our names and drafts for us. That's the part that has me confused.
  7. Got attention? That's how you kill threads
  8. It's a weird world where New York teams will be affected the worst instead of the best by no cap.
  9. PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Pedro Martinez said yesterday he hasn't ruled out pitching for the Dominican Republic in the first round of next month's World Baseball Classic. But the Mets star admitted he doesn't realistically think he has enough time to get ready for the opening round which, for the Dominicans, is scheduled to begin March 7. Martinez has yet to throw off a mound as he tries to overcome the right foot and toe discomfort that has plagued him since the 2004 season. He said he hopes to throw off the "slope of the mound" this weekend. Newsday reported yesterday that Martinez was definitely out of the first round, but the pitcher said that's a little premature. Advertisement "What I said was I don't think I have enough time (to get ready for the opening round)," he said. "Write it the right way, so we don't have any misunderstandings. I'm not ruling it out. I don't think I'll have enough time to get in shape to pitch at that level. "When is the first game? The 7th? Look how far we are and I haven't even gotten on the mound. You guys make a judgment from there. I'm not ruling it out." In a conference call with reporters, Gene Orza, the executive director of the Major League Baseball Players' Association, said he thought it was still possible that Martinez would pitch in the tournament at some point. "But I think it's, at best, 50-50 right now," Orza said. Martinez, who referred to himself as "one of the biggest names in my country," said he feels no pressure from the Dominican people to participate in the tournament. "I'd love to be there for my people," he said. "My people know, they understand, that my heart is with my team, with them. They're not going to want me to be hurt and look back (with regret) because where they have me, it's a pretty high standard. "They don't expect me to do anything but what I've done -- compete at the best level, at the top of my ability. If I'm not going to be like that, well, I'm pretty sure they will understand." Kaz Matsui turned a few heads during batting practice when he ripped the first pitch thrown to him by Billy Wagner for a line single to left. The next pitch was an extra-base hit that bounced against the fence in right. Matsui also homered off the Mets new closer during a later round. "It was just the first at-bat of spring training," said the second baseman. "But to be able to hit that well off of a fast pitcher is always encouraging." Wagner said Matsui didn't treat him any worse than most hitters do during spring training. "I'm horrible (in spring training)," he said. "I try to get it all out of the way down here." Matsui and Bret Boone worked with the infield starters yesterday. But manager Willie Randolph said not to read much into that. "We didn't sit down and pay much attention to who was in what groups," he said. "Obviously, most of the veterans are going to be in one group. That's the way it is in most camps." Mets COO Jeff Wilpon said the team would likely make an announcement about its plans for a new stadium early next month.... Cliff Floyd got to take his first live batting practice of the spring against sidearm lefty Mike Venafro. "It (stunk)," said the left-handed hitting outfielder. "But what the hell? It's good to see what those lefties look like. I (stunk) vs. lefties last year anyway." Wow.
  10. He could've signed with the LAD for 5 mill less though. That's the part that's eating away at me :brooding:
  11. Yeah, but does your CF have a cereal first name
  12. I guess it'll be extremely unlike under drafts, this will be slow and we'll basically drag it out but I'm okay with it. We just have to have full trust in each other. As in, say I pick after you VG and I picked a guy that you really wanted but you didn't see him and you would've drafted him but went over the player. Then, you go back and edit it and say you took him in the first place. I highly doubt especially a guy like you would do that VG but I was just throwing that out there.
  13. I think we should sign a decent LB in FA that can come cheaply and has an upside (Ben Leber maybe?) and then spend a second-fourth round pick on a LB in the draft depending on how FA goes
  14. Well, we are going to need depth too. A tall guy like Burress may have some back spasms during the year or muscle injuries like other tall WRs do. And Burress did have a small 2 week span of a hurt back I believe. Also, I have said this before but Plax does not show up to every game. When he doesn't, we'll need more then Toomer, Shockey, and Barber to carry the load.
  15. The first one got me feeling a little bit better but the second one isn't really relevant. We are going to be building the stadium during the uncapped time and if anything, we'll lose revenue paying for another stadium. Unebelievable, Upsaw's a bitch. They can't do this to the NFL, it's too good of a sport for this shit. If this does turn into an uncapped league, he'll go down as one of the worst figures of all time at least in my book.
  16. No, I'm with you there. Obviously, he's had some confusing play calling but no OC is perfect 17 games a year. Nice first post, welcome. I am glad I'm not the only one who thinks that we should draft a WR with our first round pick, a guy who can be a decent third WR for Eli and then can grow as Eli only gets better and better. So I agree with you there. It all depends on how we play call in the red zone and of course, if Eli does get better. Burress despite his size didn't really come up big often in the red zone this season. I only remember on a few occasions where he made some red zone TD catches. Chargers, Broncos, Rams (I think that was borderline red zone). That's actually another reason I want to draft a WR with our first rounder.
  17. At CB, I should've been a bit more specific there. Our weak spot was second and third CB and they weren't average.
  18. I don't see Shockley falling to us that low. And I'd rather have a veteran QB who doesn't need to develop if godforbid Eli goes down. But I guess in that case you take the BPA and Shockley is pretty talented.
  19. Of all people... it's a shame they had to restructure a guy like Curtis.

    Dree Brees

Well, it's keeping him out for the entire off-season possibly and that can cause some permanent damage.
  21. He hit that before he had possession of the ball. That wasn't one of the bad calls.
  22. Well, there has to be a reason that the worst team in football isn't interested in making him their franchise player right?
  23. A win would have put us at 12-4, giving us at least a #3 seed. With that, we probably would've beaten Washington at home. If we wound up losing the game still, the real killer was Carolina losing to Dallas. If they won that game, then we play Tampa at home in the first round. That, we definitely could have and I bet would have won, even with Caddy at full health at RB. Yes, these what ifs are pointless but I guess we have nothing to do now but speculate.
  24. Then it may just be taking money out of our management's pocket.
