What you are all forgetting is that without line pressure all world LBs are going to look mediocre. It starts with the line and the Giants are having major issues generating pressure. When posters pine for Pierce and Mitchell they only looked good because there was consistent up front pressure. A LB can't cover for 10 seconds or run a stunt or shoot a gap that is never open.

Which IMHO is the way a draft should be graded. Those diamond in the rough players can really propel a team forward because of the immense ROI.

Since Sullivan is still around I would think QB coach isn't a big concern.

He should get his strength program though. That is something he did right. Hell Bradford was mostly healthy which is a miracle.

Well there is a lot of money and time now invested in Eli so it's not surprising he has a big say in Giants matters. I think most of use would have liked an outside hire to bring a new perspective but this isn't surprising. Eli is the franchise after all.

I don't understand the panicking to hire MacAdoo. The best assistant coaches are still in the playoffs and I doubt it would have been impossible to find an OC similar to MacAdoo if he left (Philbin).

And this is why Reese needs to go. His arrogance is impacting this team because he refuses to admit any issues in his drafting or FA signings. Any time a reporter tries point out issues it's always met with a brush off answer. I'd bet Reese threw Coughlin under the bus and kicked him a few times. He constantly acts like he makes no mistakes.

Yeah, the draft and FA needs to be 80% defense and 20% offense. The O played very well against some good Ds this year and if Cruz gets his shit together could be amazing. Was there more concussions in the 80s and 90s then now? Obviously there probably isn't proper stats but to me it seems like a lot more knockouts are happening in this decade then back then. Anybody who was a big fan back then chime in on this. I know they used hit a lot more dirty back then but I don't remember a player like Reed getting layed out and he was always running in the middle. I'm sure he's had many concussions but I don't remember as many of those bedtime hits.

Bernard never lowered his head and Shazier hit him high. All these calls are "borderline" but that was damn close to spearing (defenceless or not). I have no horse in this race but guarantee if Burfict makes that exact same hit it's spearing and a penalty.

It's not surprising that the Bengals have conspiracy theories after the loss. It's the reason the Bengals players hate the Steelers so much. They feel, and there is probably some merit, that the Steelers get preferential treatment from the league. After Shazier hit Bernard the game was going to explode. As far as I know hitting any player high in the face mask is a penalty but Shazier got away with it and celebrated the knock out. I am almost positive Merriweather, and several others, have been flagged for hits like that.

Actually this was considered a plus with Kelley when he was hired. At Oregon he had a lot of metrics on work regimens and preventing injuries. The Giants should seriously hire Kelley as consultant to get their department in order. Throw him a couple million to make a comprehensive workout plan.

Well to be fair if all the players retired the same year as Tiki they would have the same opinion. Strahan had to basically force Coughlin to change.

And refusal to slow down the O play calling under 2 minutes. I hope the new coach fires the entire strength and conditioning group and hires Chip Kelley's group (if available). Coughlin was fired again because of the same issues with the Jaguars. Hell bring in Tiki Barber for an interview. Guy clearly knew something about staying healthy.

One could argue the Bucs have been a mess for a while now. Teams like the Browns and Buccaneers aren't competition for the Giants head coaching search anyway. Just about any good available coach will be waiting for the Giants search to end. The desperate coaches will get those other jobs.

Interesting that Spagnuolo has better odds than McAdoo. I think the Giants will go balls to the wall in FA. Reese knows his feet are in the fire also.
