  1. I think Barry Cofield is going to be a fan favorite. He has a very good personality and will do what we need at DT.
  2. Guy Whimper, East Carolina (6-4¾, 296; 4.96) Whimper had a complete workout at the Combine. He ran 4.96 twice in the 40. Played defensive end and linebacker in 2002 and 2003. Played tight end in 2004 and started at tackle in 2005 (one at left and nine at right). He's a very good athlete with good potential. He could be a good player in time, but he needs lots of coaching and weight work.

  4. From Gil Brandt: 11. Barry Cofield, Northwestern (6-4, 304, 4.98) Cofield had a complete workout at the Combine. He ran his two 40s in 4.95 and 5.01 seconds. He also recorded a 34-inch vertical jump, an 8-foot-8 long jump, a 4.35 short shuttle, a 7.43 three-cone drill and 36 bench presses. He played as a true freshman in 2002. He started 12 games in 2003 as a defensive end, 11 games as an end in 2004 and 12 games at defensive tackle in 2005. He played defensive end in high school and also played basketball, baseball and track. He can play both end and tackle, though I think tackle is his best NFL position. He's a strong and powerful player. He doesn't have many pass-rush moves. He seems to have a problem with stamina and tires in the fourth quarter. He's a smart player, though he needs to play lower.
  5. Yea you're right we should just list all the prospects.
  6. Jon Scott would be a great pick here. I didnt think he would fall this far. Guy Whimper is a tackle we are high on. Ryan O'Callaghan is another top tackle still there. Rodrique Wright Jonathan Lewis Greg Eslinger DeMario Minter Pat Watkins Orien Harris Dee Webb Marcus Hudson Alan Zemaitis
  7. 3 very good backers, I would be excited if I was a Browns fan thats for sure.
  8. I was surprised with our 1st but extremly happy we traded back and acquired some extra picks. I would have rather taking the gamble on Jimmy Williams CB/S or Chad Jackson WR at the end of the first but Kiwi is a talented pass rusher who can learn from the best. It took Osi about 3 years to become a very effective pass rusher, Strahan has maybe, if we are lucky, 3 years left. Kiwi should be ready by then if not we always have Tuck. Theres no question about it, we are very talented at DE. Sinorice was an excellent pick in the 2nd even though we traded up to get him. Gerris is an excellent pick in the 3rd.
  9. 4th round #124 #129 5th round #158 7th round #232
  10. The Eagles are having a hell of a draft. Oakland is looking pretty solid. Arizona really helped their offense. Green Bay got two really good LBs but a solid draft so far. Houston did a good job helping defense and offense. There isnt any clear winners as of right now IMO, the second day picks will seperate some of these teams. By far the worse -- Bills.
  11. If we can get Watson at 124 I would be extremly happy about our draft. Right now he and Rod Wright would be excellent choices at this point in the draft.
  12. Grady Jackson Brensten Buckner John Fisk Brandon Noble These are just a few guys off the top of my head, but thats the best of the bunch.
  13. Well then you wont be taking him, because he wont be there. Tackles went fast and he is the best that is still there. Joe Toledo and Guy Whimper are better targets for one of the 4th rounders.
  14. Gabe Watson DT Rod Wright DT Ko Simpson FS Terna Nande OLB Jonathan Scott OT
  15. Link to our picks It says there we still have both 4th round picks #124 and #129.
  16. Picks #56 in the 2nd and #87 in the 3rd. We still have the steelers 3rd #86 overall.
  17. They werent happy with Bush to begin with. A lot of Houston fans wanted Young. They were even paying for ads and pages in the Houston Cronicle asking for the Texans to select Young.
  18. Well Mario Williams is going to be a great player, lets not take anything away from him. But I think Michael Irvin said it best when he said "You dont pass on Michael Jordan for Patrick Ewing." The positives: This gives the Texans a very talented Dline. Travis Johnson, Anthony Weaver, Robaire Smith and now Mario Williams. With Jason Babin, Antwon Peek, and Marlon Greenwood as LBs. Thats a very good and very young front 7.
  19. Charlie Casserly must have heard about Money's Annual Draft. Where I selected Mario Williams with the 2nd overall selection even with Reggie Bush on the board. Thats the only liable reasoning. No really I think Reggie Bush priced himself out of the number 1 overall selection. Now the Saints are sitting pretty. They will be trading back. There are a reported 5 teams interested in trading up. The Packers, Jets, and Oakland are the 3 mentioned. I think we might see the 49ers moving up and selecting Bush to play with HS teammate Alex Smith.
  20. Nemesis you seem like you put a lot of time and effort into this. It turned out to be a very solid draft on I could definitely live with a look forward to. Mangold is a very good player and as of right now O'Hara isnt locked up for the future. Mangold would be a very solid choice and would definitely surprise quite a few people. Bullocks is being talked about as a late first early second. The Steelers have actually talked about taking him at 32. I really doubt he last to the end of the second but if he does I would be pulling for us to select him. He'll most likely be the BPA. Im glad you have McCargo as a third round prospect because thats the type of talent I feel he is but his stock was on a rise the last few weeks and he could be a early to mid second round selection. If he fell I would be ok with him as our 3rd. If we take him in the second I would be a little upset. Ingram is a versatile backer and a very solid special teams player. He would be an excellent choice in the 4th. Hunter is a good developmental type prospect at corner with some real good potential. Valentine Chude has some numbers that really stand out, I have never seen him play but I would be extremly happy with him as our 7th round pick. I think he would stand a real good chance at making the team if not he seems like a sure practice squad player.
  21. Texans | Contract update: M. Williams Fri, 28 Apr 2006 17:53:39 -0700 ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the contract signed by North Carolina State DE Mario Williams with the Houston Texans is a six-year, $54 million deal. Of the $54 million, Williams is guaranteed $26.5 million.
  22. Texans | Texans reach agreement with M. Williams Fri, 28 Apr 2006 17:16:22 -0700 The NFL Network reports the Houston Texans have reached a contract agreement with North Carolina State DE Mario Williams. He is now expected to be the first pick in the NFL Draft. Texans | More on M. Williams' signing Fri, 28 Apr 2006 17:30:55 -0700 John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports the Houston Texans have signed North Carolina State DE Mario Williams to an undisclosed contract, meaning he'll be the first player selected in the 2006 NFL Draft. By signing Williams to a contract that will guarantee him almost $22 million this year, the Texans turned their back on USC RB Reggie Bush. Although the Texans said the controversy involving Bush and his parents' living arrangements in San Diego had nothing to do with their decision, they intensified negotiations with Ben Dogra Thursday, April 27, and worked all day Friday, April 28, to complete the deal.
  23. Giants | Team conducted a pre-draft visit with K. Coley Fri, 28 Apr 2006 14:05:53 -0700 Kareem Copeland, of the Hattiesburg American, reports the New York Giants conducted a pre-draft visit with Southern Mississippi LB Kevis Coley. "Best case scenario is going on the first day," Coley said. "Worst case is not getting in, I guess." Coley topped Conference USA with 150 tackles and added five sacks and four fumble recoveries. You wont find him on most draft sites so I took the liberty to get some more info on him. KEVIS COLEY Kevis (6-0 7/8, 231) ran 4.51 with the wind and 4.52 against it. He had a 37½-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot-10 broad jump, a 4.43 short shuttle, a 6.90 three-cone drill and 19 benches. Southern Miss MLB Kevis Coley – When a recap of the 2005 season is written, there ought to be a head shot of Coley under the Tackling Machine chapter. In his first year as a full-time starter, the 6-1, 228-pound senior went from solid role player to overnight superstar by collecting a whopping 144 stops, 11 tackles for loss and five sacks; against Alabama and NC State, Coley had 27 tackles and four tackles for loss. And in so doing, he was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year, carrying on a decade-long legacy of defensive excellence in Hattiesburg. Coley follows in the footsteps of ball hawking Southern Miss linebackers Rod Davis and Michael Boley, who received the honor in 2003 and 2004, respectively, and becomes the seventh Eagle to earn the distinction in the 10-year history of the league. Like Davis and Boley before him, he’s very physical, has a nose for the ball and plays with the spirit of a warrior, attributes that have vaulted him into next spring’s NFL Draft. If you lose track of the ball when Arkansas State is on offense, locate No. 45. Odds are, Kevis Coley won’t be more than a yard or two away from the play. “I've got the killer instinct. I'm looking for the kill shot."
