For this year, I think both qualify as a replacement in the event Snee gets injured. Jerry has done well with the phins and is serviceable as a starter. If/when Snee gets injured this is a good try out year to see if Jerry fits in our long term plans. Having Schwartz at LG should really help Beatty. Like I said though, a back up swing T should still be drafted within the top 3 rounds but doesn't necessarily have to be in round one considering the talent in this years class. I'm a bit concerned with center as well but they gave him a starters contract. He has plenty of starting experience and should be fully healed by now. I would like to add a center somewhere in rounds 3-5 to compete.

I wouldn't be mad at that. I just have huge concerns with what's happening at DT. We rely on a heavy rotation, currently that's Jenkins and Hankins.
-
I think they have his replacement with Jerry or Mosley.
-
I agree, I think that's why I'm more in favor of Niklas in the 2nd.
-
Hell the way we draft after 4 we should just trade 4,5,6 and see if we can get a 3rd.

Although I'm not opposed to drafting Lewan I don't think the OT position is as dire of a need as you suggest. It's already been said that Beatty will be ready by camp. He had a very good season only a year ago we just have to hope he regains that form. With a better LG playing beside him and a new offense less dependent on 5-7 step drops we have reason to be opptomistic. With that said, however, we need a back up swing tackle capable of starting on either side. Lucky for us OT is very talented in the top three rounds.

Sounds like all speculation at this point.

Giants sign LB O'Brien Schofield 2-year / 8 million

Not feeling this signing but I'll reserve judgement until free agency is over. -
Definitely gives us flexibility in the draft. Lookin forward to his run blocking.

Losing LJ was bad enough losing LJ to an affordable contract hurts. Schwartz was a good signing but that doesn't make up for the Joseph loss.

First two rounds aren't the problem. We need more out of rounds 3 and 4.

List of Players at combine meeting with Giants

I think we should sign one tackle and one guard in free agency and one tackle and one guard in the draft. Definitely extend Rolle for a few more years. -
What to do with Snee? I'm torn like a hip ligament...

I'd cut him then resign him to vet min. He isn't a pro bowler by any means but he's still serviceable. Problem with him is he can't be depended on each week. Although I think the theme of this offseason should be getting players who we can depend on and it starts by getting rid of the injury prone guys but snee could be the exception. He's a true a giant and not to mention the HCs son in law. He has a lil pull. -

Not counting the lucky midseason stretch vs shitty qbs or the last game of the season we gave up 368 yards per game on average which would have ranked us 24th.. Big jump from 8th. Gilbrides O was ranked 28th this past season his first time out of the top 15 since 2007. Fewell was ranked bottom 5 in 2011 and 2012. Also, besides 2010, Fewells defenses never finished in the top 10. My point is our D wasn't as good as the final stats indicated and both Gilbride and Fewell should have been canned after this miserable season. -

Its crazy to see the expectations and low standards we have for our defense anymore. -

No need to. I never said the offense wasn't bad. Both were bad. Both need drastic changes unfortunately we can't do that all in one offseason. -

You saying those guys lack the talent or skills to get pressure on the qb? -

I meant this past season. My bad. -

Agreed. Week 7 to week 11 we didn't play a legit starting qb. Those games more than likely would've been 4 losses. We are a 3-4 win team this year in my eyes. -

Defense was just as big as a problem as the offense until we started playing shitty qbs. -

Jpp, tuck, kiwi, you could probably even argue Jenkins and Moore, that's more than what most teams have. Not to mention our blitzes were telegraphed. This also isn't the first year we've had this problem under Fewell. -

I think our defensive turn around this season had more to do with the qbs we played then the actual play of our defense. Fewell should have lost his job with glibride. We pride ourselves on pass rush and our team is loaded with pass rushers but yet we were at the bottom of the league in sacks. -
We should make an effort to resign him but our priority resign should be Joseph.

It doesn't matter what O we run. Eli needs to be protected and he needs a big body tight end. What worries me is his accuracy is to erratic for this style of Offense but if we can get him a big target at TE and a receiver who can adjust his body quickly it can work.
