  1. I was thinking about how Cruz changed everything for the Giants last year....then it got me thinking. It seems that every year we find a game changing player to add to the team. in 2008, it was Nicks in 2009, it was JPP in 2010....not really a game changer, but we picked up undrafted Herzlich and Hynoski that have played well in 2011 it was Victor Cruuuuuuz in 2012, I'm going out on a limb here and say Stevie Brown is a game changer....and I don't think we've seen the best of Will Hill yet. Funny how the last 5 impact players on this list went undrafted. Well....actually, Stevie Brown was a 2010, 7th round draft pick (251st pick out of 253) by Oakland, who cut him before he went to Carolina, who cut him before going to the Colts, who landed nicely right in our laps! Without JPP, Nicks, Cruz, and now Stevie Brown....this team would not be nearly as exciting to watch.
  2. Good point. A 10 million dollar man getting outshined by a younger, hungrier minimum salary guy isn't good for the 10 million dollar guy.
  3. Yet, but if you look at all the teams' injury reports, we're sitting pretty good compared to a lot of teams. Check out all the teams: http://www.nfl.com/injuries We just need to get Eli's head back in the game and get the offense fired up again. We should be starting Andre Brown at RB and we should be using 3 receiver sets so that we get single coverage with Nicks, Cruz, and Hixon fading out...not to mention, having Bennett to throw to as well. We can't expect to have 6 turnovers handed over to us in any more games to bail our offense out.
  4. Knock on wood.....I think we're going to be getting better as our players are getting healthier. Baas and Bernard will be back....and Phillips (although, he should be a little worried that little Stevie Brown hasn't taken his starting role)....and Will Hill will be back. To be this far into the season and then to get our bye week after the next two games, the bye week will give the Giants time to heal well before hitting the home stretch against the Falcons, Ravens...and of course, our nemises Eagles and Redskins for the second time around. I feel good about the way it's panning out for us. I think we'll definitely make the playoffs.....after that, it's a matter of what team gets hot. We're in a hell of a lot better situation than the other teams in our division who will have a very hard time making the playoffs as a wild card.
  5. I know the title of this thread is "I hate this team...." yada, yada.....but I love this team. Certainly not the way they played yesterday, but certainly the team overall. Facts of life: On any given day, any team can beat any other team. The ball bounces funny, there's an element of luck involved, there are bad calls, and players have off days and other days when they can do nothing wrong. So with that in mind, I at least know when I watch a Giants game that we have a damn good chance of winning the game despite the funny bounces, bad calls, lucky breaks, etc. I also accept the fact that like all other teams, we are going to lose some games and even get the occasional ass whippin or giving up a lead that seemed too big to overcome. It's very entertaining and at least with this team, I know we have a good chance at winning every time they take the field. My friends who are Bills and Jets fans, have no idea what that feeling is like. They cheer on their team expecting them to get beat at some point and have no confidence that they are going to ever see the playoffs. That's a horrible way to watch a game and to feel about your team.
  6. Talk about extreme emotion going back and forth. First, the turnover on the Cowboy's last drive that left the crowd stunned and Giants fans prematurely celebrating their victory. Then the boys got the ball back with enough time on the clock to try for a touchdown however unlikelly. Then as the boys moved the ball closer and closer to the goal line, Giants fans stopped celebrating and started crapping their pants while the boy's fans had renewed hope. Then came the incredible throw and catch for what appeared to be a touchdown. Now the boy's fans are celebrating to beat the band and Giants fans are stunned into silence and disgusted. Then the replay and the reverse call and I could hear the moan of the crowd all the way back here in NY as the celebrating crowd got their bubble bursted. But it wasn't over and I don't think a Giants' fan in the world wasn't holding their breath thinking we could still lose this game. I can't remember a game in which I was so completely convinced we were going to lose and holding my breath til the very last second clicked off the clock. I wasn't even happy.....I was emotionally spent.....angry....didn't feel as if we deserved to win....yet appreciative of the fact that we are so into the boy's heads that we own them on their own field. Very ugly game in which we simply lucked out. If Bryant pulls his arm in even slightly after the catch, the Giants lose.
  7. Something is wrong with the offense right now....same as last week. Every game can go either way regardless of who's playing, but this one had to be one of the most pathetic displays of Giants' football I've seen since the Phillies comeback game. I don't know if Eli and his wife are having problems and he can't focus.....or that our WR's have suddenly forgetten their routes. Or maybe the boys' CB's and safeties are simply a lot better than I gave them credit for. Regardless....I would actually agree this time that we didn't win the game, the Cowboy's lost the game. If we don't turn it around quickly, our luck is going to run out.
  8. Hard to believe, but it almost seems as if it's the inside of the defensive line that is our strength. If not for JPP, I would be scratching my head at our DE's wondering where they hell they've gone to. I kept an eye on Tuck and it seemed he was just going through the motions half the time, locking up with a tackle and just standing up with him. He seems to have lost heart or something. And Osi.....I just don't know. I expected a huge season out of him as he prepares for free agency. The way he's playing though, he's not going to be getting much attention from other teams. I can't say enough good, or sing enough praises of JPP. When he intercepted that ball, he was looking around as if he was going to give it to one of his teammate to run with.....then finally realized it was up to him. That was a sensational play and the smile on his face was priceless......well, unless you're a boys fan or something I suppose.
  9. Good article. When Eli became the QB, he had a whole team of veterans that treated him like a snot nosed kid who didn't know what he was doing. Tiki hated him (and TC), there were prima-donas that did things their way and wanted Eli to feed them the ball all the time. I give a lot of credit to Strahan who stuck with the team and kept the team together. Now Eli is the vet and he has a coach's brain, can read any defense and know how to exploit it, and can change setups and plays on the fly...........but most importantly, he has taken the new kids and built up their confidence in him (and in themselves) and they keep their egos in check and have the proper respect for their QB and understand that winning games is more important than personal stats. The old discussion of whether or not Eli is elite like Brady seems silly in retrospect. Eli is definitely elite. In fact, you can't spell "ELIte" without Eli!
  10. That's a shame that Ware might not make the game
  11. Well....Aussies never did have much taste for style. I've watched Crocadile Dundee at least 10 times!
  12. I think that Seattle releasing their new uniforms caused all teams to re-evaluate theirs. Seattle's is about as cool as you can get with that lime green against a dusty blue. I've always thought the Giants should go to a deeper navy Blue with Gold lettering and gold colored pants, similar to the 49'rs. Anyway, since Yard Barker is a horrible site to try and navigate and it's a memory hog, I'll post the 9 pictures for everyone else.
  13. Personally, I want to lay a donut on the Cowboys.....like 42-0 type ass stompin. But in the end, I just really want to come away with a win against the freakin boys. The saints will be a tough game, but I think we'll handle them okay. Same with Cincy. I only worry about the boys!
  14. Several things here. First and foremost, the Giants let RGIII get into their heads. They were so alert to the possibility of his taking off on a run that they couldn't (or wouldn't) focus on Morris and as we found out, Morris is a fricken monster carrying the ball. Secondly, the skins have a pretty decent offensive line that pretty much played to a draw with our defensive line. We certainly did not push their line around all day. Thirdly, we match up fairly well against power running teams with big offensive lines, but not so much against zone running teams with athletic offensive linemen that move and block with the play. In the end though.....too much focus was put on stopping RGIII and ignoring the rest of the team that could move the ball as well.
  15. We won because the Redskins turned the ball over 4 times in the second half after only turning the ball over 5 times in 6 previous games. Had we not had the turnovers, we lose that game. We caught a lucky break yesterday because we were outplayed and outcoached, but everytime we were on the ropes, the ball came loose and bounced our way. We can't always expect the other team to cough up the ball over and over to makeup for our lackluster play. But at the end of the season, the game reads as a win. But the Giants need to realize they cannot play the way they did yesterday and expect luck to fall their way again. They need to play the way they did against the 49r's and take over games. Next game with the skins, I suspect the Giants will be better prepared, but I also expect the skins to have revenge on their minds and they are a good team.
  16. Yeah.....Smith, Brown, Jones, are common last names and because we had a Steve Smith, I keep screwing up. Apart from my brain fart....you have to admit, Stevie BROWN had another great game. What a find!
  17. Why you laughing? He had 6 solo tackles (3rd most on the team), 1 pass deflected, and 1 interception that he returned for 41 yards. That's a good day in any safties book! ------------------- Oh crap.....and I just got your sarcasm. I keep calling Stevie Brown, Stevie Smith......2nd time in a week I've done that. My bad.......duhhhh!
  18. The good: Stevie Smith had another solid game. Bennet appears to be the best TE we've had in a long time. The guy is impressing the heck out of me. Blackburn looked real good today. Osi made a cameo show. Ugly, ugly, ugly......there was a whole lot of ugly to discuss. Eli's erratic throwing and we gave up 248 freakin yards rushing. We aren't going all the way if we can't stop the run any better than that. But I'll give a nod of respect for Morris. He is a helluva bulldozing RB.
  19. I hate having to play a good team coming off a hard loss because that team is out for blood. It's one of the best indicators of how a game will go. I actually felt sorry for Seattle the other night because they were going up against SF and even though they are a solid team this year.....the 49'rs needed revenge after the ass whoopin they got from the Giants the week before. Seattle was going to be their bitch no matter what. Anyhow.....the skins are coming off a high after knocking the vikes around last week. I use that as an indicator that they will get mopped up today against our Giants. 5-2 Baby!!!
  20. Yeah....that was back in the early 90's. The good news was, it was a rental car and my company picked up the tab as well as the cost of replacement hub caps. It was like a 1993 Chrysler or something. I know they don't make hubcaps anymore....or at least I don't think they do unless it's those plastic things that the lug nuts hold on.
  21. I once stopped in Jersey near the stadium at a convenience store to get a cup of coffee and hit the head. When I came out, my hub caps were gone. No one saw anything. I would never leave my car in a parking lot in New Jersey.
  22. Ha, ha......never thought of that. But don't worry, as long as ESPN continues to say the Cowboys are much improved and will win the division if they can get by the Eagles.....we'll be fine.
  23. Rolles not going anywhere - especially after yesterday. Stevie Brown has been very good, but he's still an understudy of Rolle. The only person on the roster who looks expendable to me is Jernigan. And in all fairness to him, they drafted him to be the slot receiver of the future to replace Steve Smith. But Cruz came out of nowhere and laid claim to that spot for good. It hasn't helped that Jernigan hasn't shown much when given the opportunity and with Randle and Wilson taking over at the return game on ST, I don't see a spot for him on the 53 man roster. And in the mean time, Hixon, Randle, and Barden have shown flashes worthy of the 3th, 4th and 5th WR spots and Douglas working out on the practice squad looks like a better future receiver than Jernigan. Jernigan might have a chance to be an NFL WR, but I don't think it's going to happen with the Giants. We are sooooo deep at WR that a player has to be really special to get playing time on this team.
  24. It's hard for me to watch anything else when a Yankee game is on, but I do watch the Giants over the Yanks when they conflict. I switched over to baseball at halftime and would switch over during commercials to catch up with what's going on. But I'm with you - a Giants game takes priority. I might need to get a second TV!
