  1. Is Solder staying though if we're able to sign or draft a replacement? Maybe he can move to RT?
  2. I wanted to make this thread specific to players on the roster, i.e. FA and Draft. Yes, clearly the coach is the number one team priority, as they're looking to hire asap. I can see the case for C being the top priority, plus there are likely more options at the position. If we're able to fill 3 out of the 5 priorities outline above, and go 8-8, I'd consider that to be an improvement.
  3. I thought Tate was okay, though overpaid. Bj Hill was a real surprise with the drop in playing time...what happened exactly? DeAndre Baker, Sam Beal, and Ballentine were disappointing. Connelly, Slayton, and Love look like future starters, which is great for late round picks. DJ is further ahead than I expected, but needs to clean up ball security. I'd be okay if we signed Golden to a 4 year, $10mm per season deal, but no more than that.
  4. He named four position priorities and I named five. We're not that far away from being competitive if we hit on 4/5 players in those areas, plus assuming guys like Jones, Baker, Beal, Hernandez, Slayton, Love, and Connelly all make progress. Not saying we're a super bowl team with that but definitely on the right track. For instance, adding two solid starters on the O line and you have a much more capable offense vs last year.
  5. The lower priorities are areas we don't have to address or don't need to spend big/draft high on. The top 5 priorities are the key areas to invest in.
  6. Purely position based priorities. This may change of course if we move to a 4-3. Top Priorities LT (I know easier said than done) C (Halapio could miss next season, plus stinks anyway) CB (Need a starting caliber CB) LB and Edge (Retain Golden if the price is reasonable, in my view draft Isaiah Simmons, and replace Ogletree if possible. I'm okay with keeping Ogletree if we can't replace him or if we put more pieces around him.) RT DE (I'm torn on retaining Leonard Williams if the price is right or just cutting our losses. Either way, a top priority in my view) Medium Priorities TE (Given Engram is always hurt) Lower Priorities/Depth S (assuming Love at FS and Peppers at SS as starters next year) WR (assuming Slayton is for real) G RB DT
  7. And did so with a crap o line and crap playcalling.
  8. The more I watch Isaiah Simmons the more I like. The guy is an impact playmaker on D. Might be the best defensive player in this draft.
  9. I'm lightening up after yesterdays tirade. Yes he regressed this year, but he still has potential, especially with the right coaching and better players around him. He may never be a pro bowler but could be a solid starter.
  10. Then pick any of those other players. Epenesa is intriguing.
  11. If we can replace Hernandez this off-season with someone better, why shouldn't we?
  12. He's regressed. What has he done this season to indicate he can be a reliable starting guard next season?
  13. Everyone on the OL is a backup/practice squad player except Zeitler. It's time to admit Hernandez is a bust, the Halapio experiment at C failed, and Nate Solder is the worst signing in Giants history.
  14. Drop Schurmer. Make keeping Gettlemen conditional on how he handles the Leonard Williams contract. If he pays Williams more than $11mm per year, then he should be fired for not only incompetence but also the sunken cost fallacy, and inability to admit a decision was dumb and to cut your losses.
  15. Chase Young disappeared and did absolutely nothing the past three games when facing quality opponents. All the more reason to be glad to draft someone else; OL Andrew Thomas, DB/LB Isaiah Simmons, DB Jeff Odukah, WR Jerry Jeudy, DE AJ Epenesa
  16. Wait but I thought we had pro bowl talent with Leonard Williams??? The guy we're about to give a massive contract to....because DG has to, or else he looks like an idiot. What happened???
  17. I have reconsidered and changed my mind on firing DG this offseason. Joe and Evan brought up a good point. You're not just changing one position in the organization but the entire scouting department and approach. I now think this might bring too much chaos and upheaval in a short time. I'd also like to add that DG has made some obviously huge mistakes in free agency (e.g. Nate Solder) and trades (e.g. Leonard Williams)...I'd like to see how he reacts and works to correct these, if at all. Does he cling to these moves and the sunken cost fallacy? Or does he cut his losses while he can, and work to correct them. If he doesn't shape up in 1-2 years and get us pointing in the right direction, consider canning him then.
  18. The game where they managed one first down in the 2nd half against a lousy defense that the dolphins and redskins hung 37 and 27 pts on respectively?
  19. He did look good against the 32nd ranked defense. Pencil him in as a backup next year.
  20. https://www.si.com/college/2019/12/14/chase-young-return-ohio-state-nfl-draft I personally have preferred an OL like Andrew Thomas over Chase Young.
  21. Who says they're the 2nd worst roster? The eagles on Mon were as young and injured as the Giants, if not more, and we still lost...Boston fucking Scott are you kidding me??? The Jets may have an OL worse than ours. Lots of young, injured teams with bad rosters doing better than us.
