  1. One or two good drives for 10 pts...then one consolation TD in garbage time. It's the Schurmer way.
  2. Agree on Jason Garrett, but let's not go nuts about the Bills offense. They're #20 in the league....their defense is largely carrying the team, plus some great individual efforts by Josh Allen.
  3. Our set of receivers/TEs are no worse than Green Bay, New England, Oakland, SF, Seattle, Baltimore, Buffalo, Tennessee, Phili, and several others who have far better running games than ours (with less talented backs) because they have an OL and competent play calling. Each of those teams have also been hobbled by injuries as well, so I'm not buying injuries as an excuse either. You could put Tyreek Hill and Odell on this team tomorrow and the offense is barely improved cause the OL is still shit.
  4. We have decent receivers...Slayton is a deep threat, and Engram is a threat in the seams, while Tate and Shepherd are savy route runners with burst of their own. It's the OL and pkaycalling. The browns OL is not nearly as bad as ours. We need to address the OL.
  5. It's 80% the horrendus offensive line and 20% the playcalling.
  6. I was bored and checked out the Browns Sub-Reddit...they are practically all defending Garrett, blaming Mason for the whole thing, and claiming that the NFL is simply out to get them, alleging that the NFL has audio proof of Mason saying racist things, but is holding it back for fear of embarrassment for the league. If that's any representation of the entire Browns fanbase, what a bunch of assholes. More reason to root against the Browns, as if you needed anymore.
  7. Yes....or even the 3rd rounder and 4th/5th could have been used to trade up into the 2nd....or even back into the 1st. So many options that we now don't have....cause we traded a 3rd and 4th/5th for a guy we could have just signed in the offseason anyway. And who Getty is likely to overpay, along with Markus Golden. I won't be shocked to see 5 years, $70mm....ugh.
  8. Preston and Za'Darius Smith of the Packers, that is....each has over 10 sacks this season. What's the over/under on how many plays behind the line of scrimmage they make on the giants and this putrid offensive line? I'm going with 7 in total.
  9. Even if they re-sign him, the draft picks were still a waste. We still wasted a 3rd and 4th in that scenario...and a high 3rd rounder at this rate, thus we gave up a premium pick for nothing.
  10. Lots of people are hot on Baylor coach Matt Rhule, who was an assistant with the Giants in 2012.
  11. Watch Getty give him a big contract in the off-season
  12. Schurmer is bad, but Gettlemen deserves a major share of the ridicule. It's great that he's hit on Barkely (an easy one) and Daniel Jones, but two years in a row and the OL and defense (minus the D-Line) are still a complete disaster. Not only has he left holes everywhere, his signing/moves to try and fill them have been poor, so I'm not buying the argument that he's needs time because the vast majority of his moves have failed. Here are the disastrous moves: OL (the biggest concern I have): Solder: Bust (worst contract in the NFL right now) Omameh: Bust Remmers: Bust Hernandez - Go watch his play last week for instance...he's constantly getting beat. Thus far, he's looking like a bust, or below average starter at best. Halapio: Similar to Hernandez, this guy is constantly getting beat. Bust Flowers at RT last year (yes, Gettlemen didn't draft Flowers, but he felt good enough to try him as a starter) Pulley (3 year $8mm dollar deal. Why???) DB: Baker: I don't know what he'll become long term, but he obviously wasn't ready to start day one or even season 1 in this league. Bethea: Bust. He's been just as bad as Curtis Riley last year. Beal: Gettlement gave up a 3rd round pick for him and he can't get on the field. Looking like a bust. Love and Ballentine: We've seen very little of Love outside of special teams, and the small reps for Ballentine look bad so far. Peppers: I agree with not re-signing Collins. Peppers is an average - above average starter. I'll give him credit here. Jenkins, our highest paid defensive player at $14mm is playing like an average starter at best. He whiffs on so many tackles that he's cost us in critical situations. LB: The Alex Ogeltree trade is looking bad. He's not worth $10mm per year, our 2nd highest paid defensive player. He's an average ILB at best. Tae Davis was our other starting ILB at the beginning of the season, and he's now not even on the team. Lorenzo Carter was penciled in as a starting OLB, but he has been sub-par. Golden: He seems to be one of the few bright spots on defense. I'll give him credit here. The whole Leonard Williams trade, trading a 3rd and 4th/5th round pick for no reason (an 8 game "audition?") when you'll have to just sign him in the offseason, is an absolute joke. Another problem I have is, outside of Golden, you really have no other pass rushers. No-one besides Golden has more than 2.5 sacks through 10 games.
  13. Schurmer/Getty should be fired alone for bringing back Barkley before he was truly ready. Shut him down for the remainder of the season. There's no point to playing him, especially behind this O line.
  14. The GM/Personnel VP is as much to blame as anyone for the current state of the team. I blame them more than I do the coach.
  15. This defense has to be setting records for WR separation and free releases.
  16. Yeah some of these are tough breaks, but hasn't he had like 10 fumbles in 7 games? That's far too many, even if some are "unlucky."
  17. He seems like the kind of guy who wants to carry the team on his shoulder, which is mostly good, but can be bad at times in that it leads to "trying to do too much." Nevertheless, the concern is ball security, particularly the fumbles and pocket presence to sense the rush. He's a smart kid so I expect he'll be able to correct these issues. He also just needs to set his expectations for this offensive line lower. Still more good than bad from him, and you can tell he belongs in this league. Also, don't discount all of the injuries on offense, the horrendous line he has, plus sub-par play calling. He's not well supported at this point. Put a capable O-line and skill players around him and he'll be good.
  18. Let's examine his record, highlighting the dumbass moves he's made: OL: Omameh...bust. Flowers at RT...bust. Solder...bust. Hernandez...remains to be seen, but appears average at best so far. Needs good players around him. Halapio...bust. Zeitler...fine. Remmers...bust. Chad Wheeler as a starter at RT....bust. Signing a backup in Spencer Pulley to a 3 year $10mm contract...why? Bust DB: Curtis Riley...bust. Bethea...bust. Peppers...average (granted, not signing Collins for $15mm per year was the right move) Baker as an immediate starter, rather than bringing in a vet...sucks. Might be good long term, too early to tell, but as of now, sucks. Love, Ballentine... can barely get defensive snaps. Too early to tell, but presumably worse than Baker and Haley if they're not on the field. Beal...drafted him even though he had an injury history. Guy can't even get onto the practice field for more than two minutes. Bust in the making. DL: BJ Hill and Lawrence seem decent. I'll give him credit there. Leonard Williams...giving up a 3rd and a 4th/5th just to have him audition for 8 games is throwing away two good picks. Dumbass move. OLB: Kareem Martin...3 years $14mm...16 games last year, 1.5 sacks...bust. Lorenzo Carter...thus far, is a backup or situational pass rusher at best. 2.5 sacks in 9 games this year...meh. Markus Golden...situational pass rusher/average starter at best....okay. Ximines... TBD. Thus far, situational pass rusher. Connor Barwin...bust ILB: Ogeltree...$10mm per year, and their 2nd highest paid defensive player? Way overpaid. Average starter at best. Davis...backup at best. Meyo...backup Ryan Connelly. Looked decent in limited action. RB: Johnathan Stewart...bust. QB: Leaving Eli on the roster with a $24mm cap charge with Daniel Jones in a rebuilding year....dumbass move.
