  1. Because in recent memory there are very few drafts, once in every six or seven years, that thee is one QB let alone multiple that are "sure fire" things. Even then most of those QBs flame out and maybe only one stays in the league. You can't just keep hoping year after year that you might be able to be in a position to draft or get one of these guys, got to take who you can when you can.
  2. Which makes sense for the Gints to have no problem trading away their first round pick for the next few years for some of those pieces. The Browns have nothing to gain by losing Thomas and getting albeit more draft picks. The Gints have zero power in the whole "trade" situation.
  3. The problem with the "win now" idea is that you basically fuck the dog down the road and set your team back an additional 5-6 years. I mean I'd rather the Gints get back to wining a few years after Eli then 10-15 years after Eli.
  4. They are the team that has the player that people want, they hold all the power, they are fine with Thomas, or a bunch of picks, I don't see why people think they wouldnt be. And by this logic the Gints should start trading away guys like OBJ, Collins so that they can get better value since they might not be in a winning position in a few years. Not to mention the only team in the NFL who treats players like trading cards and get away with it are the Patriots.
  5. Dont take it at any value but NFL network pundit "insider information guy" who isnt even close to the level of that ESPN guy is saying that the Browns either want a 1st this year (plus a few late round picks), or a first next year with some early round picks this year, or a whole slew of second and third round picks spanning both upcoming drafts. Or a player(s) of equal value. The Browns know they have one of the best in the game who actually wants to stay a Brown, and they won't let him go for anything other than a kings ransom. Maybe a reason why JR isnt ready to mortgage his career or the team future on the hopes the Gints get lucky the next couple of years.
  6. He's had two coaches try to teach him that. How many more coaches can they fire/hire for the kid?
  7. That's the problem with the NFL today, with NFL Europe gone and the AFL being shit canned, there' really isnt any sort of place a backup/potential starter can develop anymore. Teams don't have the luxury of being able to have someone sit for a few years, or go through growing pains with how fans are in today's NFL. You can't have a swing of 5-11 seasons without turning the roster/FO over since you'll be losing money in ticket sales. I mean think of all these QBs who go in the second round or after who only need some patience and gametime to learn and mature, yet the moment they show any signs of struggle after a couple years the fans/team basically throw the guy under the bus and move onto the next band aid fix.
  8. I'd bring him in simply because he's a veteran who can really bring some leadership to the offense. Fuck he would start day one at guard. Plus there's this. Maybe if Flowers cant be coached another player can finally get him so play with technique. I've seen better blocking in highschool games than what Flowers bring every week.
  9. First three years are 15.5 million a season roughly guaranteed. With a 20 million signing bonus we have to eat up against the cap over four years.
  10. Players really need to stop using their jersey number as their twitter password.
  11. It will just be the same thing. Old white billionaires trying to say they dont make much money and the players should be thankful for what they are getting. Players trying to say they do deserve more and a bag of chips. And the commish caught in the middle taking all the blame. Maybe Trump will step in and make the NFL great again by throwing out all the "ethnic type people"
  12. Atleast he has starting experience in the NFL. And truth be told unless you are the Patriots who can replace players like lightbulbs, when your backup QB comes into the game you are either a) fucked for the rest of the season or b) in garbage time of a game.
  13. He's no where near worth 17 million a year IMO But he's a Spags guy, and the strength of this team is the defense, guess you have to keep it together somehow.
  14. Lets hope it knocks the 16 million dollar cap hit down to 10-12.
  15. Yeah on NFL netowrk now Details still not released but 4 year deal.
  16. Because he was a good player that the Gints let go. No other reason really.
  17. Yeah Linval is clearly a case of "one that got away" Sure he wasnt producing at the time but he's now a top DT in the league.
  18. Rodgers 22 million Rapistburger 18 million Wilson 18 million
  19. You know all those QBs who only get paid two million a season and take their team to the Superbowl every year.
  20. I even said it myself he isnt a HoF player but he is a better player than what we had at the RG position before.
  21. Actually I think he's better than Newhouse, Hart and even Flowers at this point. He's a starting playing in the NFL, just never lived up to his draft position (like Flowers so far) I'm not saying Fluker is gonna be in the HoF but his signing basically solidifies the right side of the line. People wanted the Gints to fix the Oline, although this isnt a long term solution it's a one year stop gap to a problem.
  22. Solid move. The guy is looking to shed his "bust" tag. He'll be starting at guard or maybe if desperate enough tackle.
  23. He's basically the future that Flowers is looking at if he doesnt improve. By all rights a "bust" but he improved when the Chargers kicked him into the guard position. Had a really good rookie year, but just didnt improve after it.
