He's a smart player too. If you go back and look at the final pass he caught, that was all spectacular route running. It's essentially an outbreaking route, with a little bit of a bend upfield; he starts out up field, defender plays with outside leverage trying to funnel the WR inside, he makes a juke inside, then jukes outside to gain the outside position towards the sideline and makes himself wide open for Devito.

He is a weapon with a decent QB and use of him in a strategic manner.  As Crazed Dogs put it... too many hits will shorten his career.  He would be best used as a sort of third down back from the 1980s era Giants... like the old uniforms.  He should not be the number focus of an offense because defenses would bust his ass eventually... Eventually might come really quick.

Yeah, the sideline catches want to make you think he is a #1 WR, but agree on the focal point.  Moving him around the formation to gain matchups is likely the best way to use him...but those plays take time to develop usually...which means offensive line needs to play well...and they did against GB.

At worst, he is Steve Smith...the one we drafted...who was incredible at finding a hole, sitting down, and getting a first down catch.  Steve Smith often gets lost among the best WRs we have ever had in blue due to his getting injured and never fully recovering, but he is good company for Robinson to be in

I agree with you Gmenroc and thanks for the Smith call out.  He does not get enough props.  He is akin to Amani Toomer for me.  He always found the hole in coverage.  He had an average body that could not take big hits like Wandale as well.  We have to Spartan in his usage and like you write we need good line play for his plays to develop.

Robinson also seems to have very deceptive speed - I was looking at this highlight and in a lot of cases he just boosts past DBs and gets a lot of separation. He looks like what we expected from Toney - but Im so glad we got this kid

Spot on about Robinson... the less said about Toney the better.  What a waste of talent and a pick he was/is.
