Two days away and not sure if we're doing this, but here goes first round.

Player Pos. School

Round 1

1 Houston Khalil Mack OB Buffalo

Yes, much better fit in Crennel's scheme and can be a beast here.

2. St. Louis F/WAS Sammy Watkins WR Clemson

Gives them tons of speed to counter the physical secondaries in the West.

3. Jacksonville Jake Matthews OT Texas A&M

They surprise and reunite Matthews with Joeckel

4. Cleveland Mike Evans WR Texas A&M

Evans has the length Shanahan desires and will make a good trio with Cameron and Gordon

5. Oakland Jadeveon Clowney DE South Carolina

I think writers like Clowney more then teams and he drops a little. Still it's Oakland's gain and he will be a great fit has a weakside DE.

6. Atlanta Greg Robinson OT Auburn

Matt Ryan was hit 100 times last year. They need to keep him upright and the upside of Robinson will be too good to pass on.

7. Tampa Bay Johnny Manziel QB Texas A&M

The interest is real and Manziel will be great in Tedford's offense.

8. Minnesota Ryan Shazier OB Ohio State

Perfect run and chase WLB for Mike Zimmer

9. Buffalo Taylor Lewan OT Michigan

Lewan and Glenn make a great OT duo to keep Manuel protected.

10. Detroit Kyle Van Noy OB BYU

Van Noy is a do it all LB that can play in both 3 and 4 man fronts.

11. Tennessee Anthony Barr OB UCLA

Barr plus Horton equals potential greatness.

12. New York Zack Martin OG Notre Dame

Martin will be a great fit in McAdoo's ZBS and will provide the versatility the Giants desire on their Oline.

13. St. Louis Aaron Donald DT Pittsburgh

Donald gives them a great defensive line with Brockers, Long and Quinn. Williams loves attacking defenses and they get that with their first two picks.

14. Chicago Ha Ha Clinton-Dix FS Alabama

Clinton-Dix will be great has a single high safety in Tucker's scheme.

15. Pittsburgh Darqueze Dennard DC Michigan State

Dennard brings the physicality the Steelers like in their secondary.

16. Dallas Dominique Easley DE Florida

Perfect UT for Marinelli's scheme

17. Baltimore Eric Ebron TE North Carolina

Despite signing Daniels and resigning Pitta they need a young flex TE and Ebron will give Flacco they intermediate target he needs.

18. New York Brandin Cooks WR Oregon State

Gives them the speed they desire, can play slot or boundary. Will work great in Mornhinweg's offense.

19. Miami Marqise Lee WR Southern Cal

Lee gives Tannehill another receiving weapon and can play the slot or boundary. Lee is great after the catch and has the speed to stretch the seam.

20. Arizona Calvin Pryor FS Louisville

Need their own thumper in the middle,

21. Green Bay Louis Nix DT Notre Dame

The Packers resigned Raji only to a one year deal and could use a young NT.

22. Philadelphia Dee Ford OB Auburn

The pass rusher the Eagles need will fit well in the Wide 9 defense with hand in the dirt or standing up.

23. Kansas City Morgan Moses OT Virginia

Moses is versatile, but protects best at RT where he'll form a good duo with Fisher and give the Chiefs a young pair of great OT's

24. Cincinnati Kony Ealy DE Missouri

Perfect replacement for Johnson has a RDE. Raw with tons of upside.

25. San Diego Kyle Fuller DC Virginia Tech

Fuller will be great has a technical zone CB in San Diego's scheme.

26. Cleveland F/IND Teddy Bridgewater QB Louisville

Bridgewater is a steal here. Will have tons of weapons to throw too.

27. New Orleans Odell Beckham Jr. WR LSU

Saints take the local product to replace Moore in the slot.

28. Carolina Joel Bitonio OG Nevada

Analysts say Bitonio is too small to stay outside. He's similar in size to Jordan Gross the guy he replaces to protect Cam's blindside.

29. New England Ra'Shede Hageman DT Minnesota

Can play 5 tech in 3 man front or 1 tech in a four man front.

30. San Francisco Justin Gilbert DC Oklahoma State

Gilbert will fit well in the slot or on the boundary in Fangio's scheme. He has the length, physicality and speed the Niners desire.

31. Denver CJ Mosley OB Alabama

Mosley falls because of the injury, but is still a steal here for Denver.

32. Seattle Xavier Su'a-Filo OG UCLA

Su'a Filo will fit great in Seattle's power man scheme. He fill in right away and solve a big need for Seattle.

Every Mock draft I see, including major sites like CBS and SI, have the Texans not taking a QB. Am I missing something? The Texans currently only have Case Keenum and Tj Yates, right? For the life of me, I can't see the Texans not taking a QB with the 1st pick.

I think it's because there wasn't a single QB set himself apart from the pack. Looking back to the Eli draft...Eli and Roethlisberger set the bar awfully high, with Rivers right there. There was wide consensus that they were the 3 guys. This year, there really wasn't even 1 that made teams stop to think that he was the guy. It was more of a 'this guy screwed up the least' lukewarm feelings all around.

And because there are recent examples of a Jamarcus Russel who aside from a big arm, didn't wow teams either, and it crushed the Raides for how many years? The #1 overall pick is too valuable in the detriment it can cause if you miss, to risk it on a guy you feel iffy about.

And this, is why the Texans shouldn't take a QB. Not to mention, I read something way back when draft talk was first starting that next year's QB class will be significantly better than this year. I don't have the source or the names at this point, but if that's the case, teams might be willing to put some linemen in there to bring a QB into (next year) as opposed to bringing the linemen in after the QB.

They can get one at 33 and it will be much better value. I have them getting Bortles, which some thought could be the pick at 1.

Yea the QBs of this year's draft aren't worth top 15 picks.

I'm ticked at myself I haven't found the time to do the 5 up, 5 down draft preview I like to write, it really gets me primed for the draft and gets me excited about some players outside the top 50 or so guys. Even with the late draft this year, I just have so much going on... I will do a first round mock before tomorrow night, though, and yes, the mock draft competition is back on, I'll do the spreadsheet, post all the mocks here. Even if I'm just basically throwing up darts to make my picks, I'm going to do a mock. But I really wish I had more time to do my usual pre-draft study... it just makes the draft so much more fun for me.

Maybe tomorrow I can put one of these up, but I make no promises.

I can't see Clowney falling to 5, nor can I see Matthews going before Robinson....but we'll see soon enough.

Matthews is my #1 overall player. People rate Robinson over Matthews because of his ceiling, Robinson also has a much lower floor. I don't know why drafting a safe pick has become abnormal.

I'm not convinced that at least two of the four teams, Texans, Jaguars, Vikes, and Browns, aren't taking a QB with their top draft picks. I think we'll see at least two QBs go in the top 10. My going out on a limb pick for the shocker of the draft is Rams taking Manziel with #2.

I think Johnny Menzel goes in the top 10... for as much a headcase he maybe, he's pretty good and looks like RGIII out there.

Right, plus after a 5'11 QB just one the SB, along with 6'0 Brees not too long ago, perhaps teams are rethinking QB height and can accept QB's with this stature. If Manziel was 6'5, he'd be the #1 pick bar none.

I don't predict trades, which will throw off my whole mock. A trade I think is going to happen though, is Dallas going up into the top ten and drafting Manziel.

They have a solid QB in Romo... For all of Dallas' problems, Romo is the least of them.

He is 34 and they are in cap hell for the foreseeable future. They restructed his contract to be backloaded, which means he makes $17 million in 2015.

Not only that, he folds like a lawn chair when the game counts the most...especially in the last few minutes of a crucial game. At his age, I can see Dallas grooming his replacement. They don't really have anyone behind Romo that has a future with the team.

isn't romo impossible to trade right now? the bonus would accelerate and cost the cowboys like 30 mil or some shit this year right? and the dead money for cutting him is like 50 mil

I don't think Manzel lasts that far back... Dallas would have to trade up

I think the fact that we don't already know who is going #1 overall yet is a pretty good indicator that Houston wants to trade out of that pick. I think they want Bortles, but if they can't pull off a trade, they are going to take Clowney, and I think the Jags take Bortles at #3. With that said, here's my mock (no trades, even though I suspect there will be at least 3:

1. Texans - Jadeveon Clowney

2. Rams - Greg Robinson

3. Jaguars - Black Bortles

4. Browns - Jake Mathews

5. Raiders - Khalil Mack

6. Falcons - Aaron Donald

7. Buccaneers - Sammy Watkins

8. Vikings - Justin Gilbert

9. Bills - Taylor Lewan

10. Lions - CJ Mosley

11. Titans - Mike Evans

12. Giants - Zack Martin - *note* - I have Martin here only because the guys I would take over him are all gone.

13. Rams - Anthony Barr

14. Bears - Darqueze Dennard

15. Steelers - Haha Clinton-Dix

16. Cowboys - Odell Beckham Jr

17. Ravens - Chris Borland

18. Jets - Cyrus Kuoandjio

19. Dolphins - Xavier S'ua-Filo

20. Cardinals - Kyle Fuller

21. Packers - Calvin Pryor

22. Eagles - Brandin Cooks

23. Chiefs - Eric Ebron

24. Bengals - Stephon Tuitt

25. Chargers - Jason Verrett

26. Browns - Derek Carr

27. Saints - Joel Bitonio

28. Panthers - Ja'Wuan James

29. Patriots - Austin Sefarian-Jenkins

30. 49ers - Demarcus Lawrence

31. Broncos - David Yankey
