  1. Jabar Gaffney or the draft (Devin Aromashodu)
  2. One of the few statements from you that I've actually agreed with. However, to respond to a previous post, there's no way we're getting an OT in the first round, especially given the following two things: (1) Our glaring lack of depth at the LB position that was exposed big time last year and (2) the extreme depth at the LB position in this year's draft. And regarding trading up, Money made a good point about getting comparable talent for the LB position at 25 than at 20 or maybe even 15.
  3. Like someone said previously, these are not necessarily long term solutions to the secondary and as a result, I think that we will still go for a CB in the draft. And regarding the "glaring need" at DT, I think we can take care of that in the draft. I also agree with the guy who said that the glaring need at LB is much bigger. Hence, 1st - LB, 2nd - DT, 3rd - CB
  4. Article I just read said the knee injury wasn't as bad as initially reported and that he'd be cleared to run in May. I would only hope that the deal he signed has clauses in it to cover our asses should his injury keep him from playing.
  5. No, absolutely not. Not with the depth at the position. In retrospect, I think we can all admit that moving up for Eli was a mistake, especially when Roethlisberger was available for our selection without losing any additional picks at all. Eli might be the better QB in the long run, but the difference between Eli's and Ben's career when it is all said and done will not be so different as to warrent all the extra picks. Now, that being said, I'm a huge Eli supporter and a big fan, I'm just saying that I don't think he'll be worth the sacrifice that we made for him given the circumstances of that particular draft. Regarding this year's draft, the circumstances are that there are numerous LBers that will be available at our first selection that are will be successful in this league. I am confident that one of them will do better or at least marginally equivalent to AJ Hawk
  6. Has to be a mistake. Has his signing as news above that. Probably some shlub just put it in the lost group instead of the acquired group
  7. Buckner - no more than a 2 year deal, if that. Rather see Pickett or guy from Seattle whose name I'm drawing a blank on. Arrington - just make the offer, sign the deal and call it a day already. Demps - get your ass in here already and sign your shit. Tim Carter - we can't sign Jabar Gaffney instead for a similar contract? 4 million probably doesn't include the rookie pool, so there probably shouldn't be too much worry about signing draft picks.
  8. I've brought him up in limited discussions, but the fact that he's a Restricted Free Agent probably is what keeps him out of most discussions. In other words, we could offer him a deal, but Indianapolis would have a chance to match it. And even if Indianapolis chose NOT to match it, we'd have to give up a draft pick for him (in addition to whatever salary he'd be signed for). The specific draft pick we'd give up is dependent upon the 1 year tender that Indianapolis has offered him, which I don't know off-hand, but assume is worthy of a 1st round pick. Regardless, if we really want this guy, we'd be better off waiting until next year when he will have the chance to enter free agency UN-restricted. Chances are he'll sign the one-year tender, play this year, and if he plays well, will hit it big next year.
  9. Redskins are just as close to the SB as we are. I'm sure their fans are saying, "if we just get this guy, if we just get that guy; it'd be the difference" just like many Giants fans, including myself, are saying. It's all about doing what you can and what you believe will make your team better. And the 'big names' didn't get those big names by just standing around and underperforming. Do I want to be like the Redskins, no I don't, but whatever they're doing may not be working completely, but it's not not working.
  10. You could probably find it in a number of my other posts in other threads, but my top 4 picks are LB, DT, CB, and WR, in that order. Although, with the recent signings of Madison and McQuarters, I'm beginning to think that 3rd rounder might be better spent on a safety. I'd rather see us sign one of the better FA safeties prior to draft day and use that 3rd rounder at CB as I planned originally, but if we don't get a FA safety, than that 3rd rounder becomes a Safety.
  11. Not bad, but after getting Madison and McQuarters in free agency, I kinda doubt we'll spend 3 picks on the secondary. And I can't see waiting until the 3rd round to get a LB given the depth in the draft at the position. 1st - LB (E. Sims, D. Ryans, B. Carpenter) 2nd - DT (C. Wroten, R. Wright) 3rd - CB (A. Phillips, W. Blackmon) I do like the Devin Aromashodu pick in the 4th.
  12. I would hope that we'd go with LB in the first given the depth in the position in this year's draft. I'd also hope to see a FA linebacker signed as well.
  13. After what happened to our linebacker core last season, you should know full well that we are severely lacking in that department. Pierce is quality. Emmons has not stayed healthy. Torbor is still learning. Definitely need help and I really don't see any rookie stepping in and starting. Arrington or Peterson should be signed and we should draft LB in the first round.
  14. I like the signing. Provides depth at return guys and in the secondary. I'd love to still see a LBer and a DT in free agency.
  15. Could still do that. I think we've got room for a Chris Hope and a DT yet in free agency. Could be wrong, but I'm thinking that might be the case.
  16. For me, it's Hope, Demps, Tank Williams in that order.
  17. Hasn't signed anywhere yet, but has mentioned publicly that he wants to remain in the NFC East and he does not want to play for the Cowboys. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that leaves the Eagles and Giants. And the Eagles just signed Shawn Barber (to play along Dhani Jones and Jeremiah Trotter). Arrington has visited the team already, so many are thinking that it's only a matter of time.
  18. Yeah, I'd really like to know how exactly the Redskins do this. It's nothing new because they do it every year, but I'd like to know this year specifically how they're managing to be over the cap and continue to dish out fat contracts.
  19. Thanks. Would love to see Bernard - 8.5 sacks last season in Seattle, but he could very well be out of the price range. Then again, if he realizes that he'll be lining up with arguably the best DE combination leaguewide in Strahan and Umenyiora, that could be awfully tempting for him.
  20. Don't know what the chances are, but as long as we get one of the FA LBers(Arrington, Witherspoon, Peterson), I'll be happy. EDIT: Scratch Witherspoon off that list. Just noticed he was picked up by the Rams.
  21. Don't know much about either Bernard or Pickett, but from what I can tell, both would be equivalent to or better than the departed Clancy.
  22. All he'd have to do is let TO sit on their roster and not move him.
  23. I realize that it will be more difficult to cut him in later years, but until a suitable replacement is available, there's really no reason to get rid of him. His penalties suck, his back sucks, but again, I don't know of any LTs out there that can come in and do better.
