  1. I remember JimNasium. I think I joined over there near the end of his posting career. I'm think I joined in early 2004. Then I completely left the site as soon as they got rid of P & R, and it took me awhile, but I came over here. I never posted at any other Giants site except for this one and Giants.com.
  2. Booh, you are so right. That site sucks, and it has for a long time. From Eisen on down. They are always behind on everything. But they have podcasts woop di doo. A flagship franchise in the NFL should have a cream of the crop website and it's bottom of the barrel. I rarely waste my time going there anymore, because usually the news breaks much faster on here than it does their own website.
  3. I don't think using the 'n' word in a drunken stupor is grounds to be labeled a racist. Many of us have said similar things sober and don't consider ourselves racist. It does mean he was being a drunken idiot, though.
  4. In case anyone is wondering, in 10 games and 32 Spring ABs, Milledge has a .486 OBP, .406 BA, 7 RBI, 13 H, 6 for extra bases, has scored 8 runs, has stolen 5 bases, and has no homers as of yet. I know it's only spring training, but Church and Schneider better have career years.
  5. Which one of you guys has seen Carr play in the NFL behind a good line with a good offense like ours? None of you, because he never has. It's funny that you guys are poo pooing this guy who you readily admit has never had a chance, but think he wouldn't have a chance on our team. I think as a back-up, there is potential there for him to be the best back-up we've had since Hostetler. I welcome Carr to the team if we can sign him for a reasonable price. He's a good young talent. He should be healthy going in to next year. Everyone who thinks that he would've been good but now never willl is assuming that he's mentally destroyed and has lost his competitive edge and all confidence. There is no way anyone on this board can know that. And even if that is true, there is no reason that he can't regain it. He is much better than any other back-up we have, and I think if he comes to the Giants, he's a very nice insurance policy for Eli.
  6. I had a thread a month or two ago about bringing Javon to the Giants. I love this guy. Big and fast, he's just like Plaxico. He'd be Plaxico-lite on the other side of the field. I'm not sure why some people are so worried about moving Amani to the slot and bumping S. Smith down one. This isn't Madden. It's not about stats. It's about the NY Football Giants winning football games and getting better. Adding a guy of Javon Walker's caliber to the team would make us more dangerous and help us win more games. You guys know how much I like big and fast wide receivers. They are not as plentiful around the league as one might think, yet most all of the top performers in the NFL statistically have the size and speed of Owens, Plaxico, Moss, and yes, Javon Walker. Amani is advancing in age and is a possession receiver. There is nothing wrong with moving him to the slot. Or have Javon in the slot. The Giants run a lot of 3-WR sets, so there should be plenty of catches for all of them. Steve Smith is the insurance policy in case someone gets hurt. And then when Amani does retire (which will probably be at the end of the upcoming season, I think this is the final year of his contract), he will move up to be the slot receiver. Besides, with the plays Smith has made, he's also had some pretty critical drops. To me, he has done an ok job, but he hasn't warranted a starting spot yet. Just imagine Plaxico and Javon Walker with Toomer and Shockey on the same field. That would be amazing. Dare I say it would be even better than what the Patriots had last year as a group of receivers. So I for one, salivate at the opportunity to add Javon! Time to make a move, G-men!
  7. Ggirl, you know I have love for you, despite your Phillie phandom. Seriously, you have to be the best Phillies phan they have. You just don't fit their m.o. I will have to say that while the Phillies did come back, and did win the East, and did it also by dominating the Mets in the process... they had the perfect scenario in which to do so. No El Duque, Pelfrey still very green, took on too much of a role, no Alou for much of the stretch, even Endy was out for a long time that really hurt us. Then there was the inexplicable Reyes slump. We also had Pedro for only 5 starts, and we didn't have Duaner Sanchez at all. In addition, injuries to Lo Duca and Castro had us using minor league worthy Mike DeFelice and Sandy Alomar Jr.! It was a nightmare scenario because the Mets could not survive the mountain of injuries. Now, I know the Phils had their injuries, too, most notably Utley, but they didn't have the quantity that we had. The Phillies also didn't improve their team enough in the offseason. It was more TYPICAL Phillies behavior... watch the Mets get Johan while they get Geoff Jenkins and Pedro Feliz. Seriously. The sweep was typical, too. So much so I saw it coming. The Phillies are losers. Now I'm not saying YOU are. But there is still time and room to jump on the Mets bandwagon, baby! Say it with me... LET'S GO METS! Honestly, the Phillies are not going to win a World Series for at least 10 years, probably more like 50 or more. The Eagles have NEVER won a SuperBowl! And the 76ers? The last time they won it was when the ABA was still around. Get on the Mets train and spare yourself the future misery! We'd love to have ya! Plus, it's just weird having a Giants fan who is also a Phillies fan! That should never happen!
  8. I wish I could read more indepth analysis about the Safety position with respect to Free Agency but apparently BlueInCanada did not do his homework!!!
  9. If Coleman signs with the Falcons before the Raiders make an offer, the Giants decision becomes that much tougher.
  10. Methinks you are correct, particularly about this point. But JayD also has a point. A lot of times there was just nowhere to go with the football. I see what you're saying about not giving Web the keys yet, but he gave me so much hope in that playoff run because he was just blanketing guys. On that last play in the SuperBowl he was stride for stride with Moss and deflected that pass, that was a stellar play that did not get the recognition it deserved. I believe Reese said something to this effect, as well... for him to go stride for stride with Moss on a deep pattern and out fight him like that on a fast track, no less, that says that this kid has the ABILITY to be very, very good.
  11. I would like to say that out of my DT's, Randy Starks AND Brian Young are off the board. Also, I would like to say to VG, Ernest Wilford's previous team was not the Texans! What kind of journalist are you??? I do believe he is off the board as well, speaking of Wilford, and I know that Andre Davis is also gone, as he resigned with the Texans.
  12. It's all good, my friend. I too get swept up in emotion talking about certain players I'm high on and overstate things from time to time. I really wish the Giants would keep Gibril. Even if it means they overpay for him. As you correctly stated, the safety free agent and draft markets are not good. And the free agent pool seems to be getting dimmer by the minute. Madieu Williams, one of the guys the Giants were targeting, is off the board having signed with Minnesota for 6 years, $34 million, and Erik Coleman is visiting the Falcons today as well. Gibril has been great for us, he may not be the best in the NFL, but he is one of the better ones, maybe top 10, and the Giants have the cap room to get it done. I'd rather them not let Torbor, Mitchell, AND Wilson go. I am worrying that this might be a mistake. It's all about supply and demand. And the supply for safeties right now is low. With slim pickin's in the draft, we better not be stuck with Butler!
  13. Am I good or what? I know that it hasn't happened (yet, if at all), but you have to admit, that was prophetic. I have softened my stance on this, too. I'd really rather keep Shockey. I really think he could have the best season of his career next year now that Eli has turned the corner.
  14. Thanks, Dragon. I've always respected Cowlishaw more than Ryan.
  15. Asante Samuel just became the Eagles best receiver.
  16. SportsWrath is gaining a lot of prestige in the sports news, business, eh? LOL. We are news breakers, guys! LOL!
  17. I'm shocked no one said Jack Tatum. Tatum remains as one of the most feared defensive players to ever play the game. Geez, he was nicknamed "The Assassin". He also had one of the hardest hits in SuperBowl history. Bleedin', I always enjoy reading your stuff, and you usually are pretty on target, but your comment about Wilson was a bit of a reach, buddy, to put it mildly!
  18. NEGATIVE, Bleedin'! It's a 6 year, $57 million dollar deal, about $20 million guaranteed, with $32 million to come in the first 3 years, according to NFL.com. They paid top-dollar, close to Clements money for him. He's a good corner, but he's not one of the top 5 in the NFL, maybe not one of the top 10. The Eagles overpaid for him.
  19. Anybody watch it? I saw they were going to talk about Shockey but then I got pulled away. Anybody know what was said?
  20. Clements got more with his 8 year, $80 MIL last year with the 49ers. Trufant will get around $9.5 million this year from the Seahawks.
  21. Anybody know how that deal compares to other corners? Eh, I guess I could look it up.
  22. Trufant is one of the elite corners in the NFL. My thinking is that the Giants are going to hang on to Madison unless they pull off one of these deals. I think a first, this year's 3rd or 4th, and next year's 2nd should be plenty, and even then I'm not sure I want this deal. I still feel that with the way Webster played Moss in the SuperBowl, and the entire playoff run, that he can be that guy for us. On the other hand, we are pretty set at nearly every position with the exception of safety, so do we even need that many draft picks? We are mainly drafting for depth right now. Enviable position the Giants are in, either way you can look at it as a win. IMO, Trufant would be terrific in our system.
  23. I did my homework and don't care that others haven't completed their's yet. I want my homework (and the others that completed their's already) POSTED ALREADY! Tonight is Free Agency and are articles will be less relevant after the fact (should the Giants sign someone in our positions). NEM, post our articles so at least we can see what other people think about our findings as well as read others' findings! DADGUMIT!
  24. Gspotter is right. I never thought much of this rumor. I gave more creedence to the Marion Barber trade to Dolphins rumor and that one is doubtful it will happen. I'd rather concern myself with how the Giants are going to improve than what Dallas is doing.
