  1. Heilman really does suck. Can we give the 8th inning back to Duaner yet, already? GEEZ! How many games do we have to watch like this?
  2. You say that like there is something wrong with it. If a hitter is taking away the inside corner, your job as a pitcher is to reclaim it. It's not dirty, it's baseball. Utley practically sits over top of the black of the inside corner. He then leans INSIDE to take one when he can. THAT is dirty to me purposely getting in the way of inside pitch. All we're saying is throw inside with some heat, and if he's in the way, make it hurt. Next time he will hopefully get out of the way. Why should a pitcher let the batter dictate where he can throw in the strike zone?
  3. Pagan is just getting a day off. No big whoop. Looks like we are going to lose this one. Fukudome had an unbelievable AB. Heilman threw a lot of strikes to him and he just kept fouling them away. Finally hit a groundball to left base hit, which now loads the bases with no outs. Heilman takes a lot of criticism, but that was just great hitting. Now plunking Ramirez was all his fault.
  4. 3 game winning streak, longest in the majors right now, lol. On to Philly for more payback!
  5. Finally! What a ugly game, but a win is a win! Hats off to Figgy and the bullpen, and another strong showing for Duaner. That splitter looks good, saw the fastball get up to 91, and I think it's time he takes over the 8th inning again!
  6. This game really does expose what a liability Castillo is offensively. He is a gaping hole in the lineup just like a pitcher. The only good thing I can say about him is that he will make the pitcher work, fouls off pitches, and is a patient hitter.
  7. Man I wish I could hear your guys' broadcast instead of this Nationals' crew of Bob Carpenter and Don Sutton. Sosa is scaring the crap out of me here.
  8. Seriously, we have 2 on, nobody out and can't get a run? I hate that David hits into so many DP's.
  9. Wow. This sucks. I really thought David was going to pull through there.
  10. It's ok. David is going to win this game right here. He is due.
  11. OMG he was safe at third. I thought ties go to the runner. Don Sutton doing the color commentary on MASN here in Washington said on the replay it looked like the ump got it right. WHAT, DON?!
  12. That pitch just said 95 on the gun from Joe Smith! Radar inaccuracy or does Joe really have that kind of velocity? I don't remember him ever throwing that hard!
  13. Way to many chances for the Nats. And Joe, hitting the leadoff man not a good idea in a tie game.
  14. Manny Acta is stupid! He just walked Delgado intentionally with a guy that throws gas. Despite the fact that Delgado drove in the tying run, I have yet to see him turn on a fastball quicker than 92 mph this year. In fact, not sure if I've seen him do it in the 2nd half of last year, either!
  15. And also, sorry for getting a little personal, xxi, we just disagree.
  16. Dude, I just think Reyes should be himself and no one else, no matter what anyone says or thinks. I don't think it costs us ballgames. I think poor pitching, hitting, and fielding costs us ballgames. I'd much rather see him having fun and "dancing like a chicken" and us winning, then not.
  17. I think it's embarrassing to have such anal fans, but that's just me. It's not an inferiority complex. I don't like the Yankees. And part of it is there faux "we're more professional than everyone else" attitude. It's the Steinbrenners and Jeter's passive-aggressive cocky attitude. It's their fans criticizing the greatest player in baseball, Alex Rodriguez, saying his homeruns only come when they don't need them. It's a lot of things, and I swear if the Mets ever become like them it will be a sad day. For the record, the team with Paul O'Neill, Tino Martinez, and Scott Brosius and company was a likeable team.
  18. There is no way you can convince me that Reyes acting like someone he's not is a good thing. When he's having fun, the team is having fun, and most importantly, WINNING! Reyes had a career slump at the worst possible time, but he wasn't the only one who was responsible for us losing last September.
  19. Predictable response. And if you like that, go be a Yankee fan. Us Mets fans PREFER our team not to be tight-asses like the Yankees. Reyes is not Jeter, never will be, and shouldn't try to be. You can't make someone be someone they're not.
  20. We're going to have to agree to disagree. In every sport I've ever played, when the opposition got really pissed it was to my advantage. And frankly, I really don't care if they get mad at Reyes or not. I will take our talent over their anger every time. If Reyes was having a little more fun last September maybe he hits better and we win a couple more games and make the playoffs.
  21. They are allowed to have fun, you No-Fun Police! And it's actually necessary. I remember another team that had fun... 1986. What about the "Idiots"? That's who Jose is and you can't take that away from him. It adds to the team atmosphere and loosens guys up. Beltran recognized it and so did I from the beginning of the season I thought they were playing too damn tight and was praying Reyes would go back to being himself to facilitate that happening.
  22. Another thing about that game (162 of last year). Who was pissed off going into that game? Do you remember? It was Hanley Ramirez. He was all mad and had that quote in the paper. What did Hanley do in that game? 0-4 with 2 K's and a BB. If Jose's personality gets under their skin, I would prefer that, because I'd rather them be thinking about Jose than what the pitcher is throwing. We lost that game because Glavine sucks and he was due for another shit game, and our guys still couldn't hit. It had nothing to do with Reyes other than the fact that he went 0-5 that day.
