  1. Couple of thoughts... While I am very pleased to see Willie drop Castillo in the order, it's curious to me how he did it this game. Castillo is batting over .400 against Odalis Perez in his career, and Church, who typically doesn't bat well versus lefties, gets moved up to the 2 hole. Methinks Pagan would've been a better fit there for this game. Maybe Willie was thinking we get into their bullpen early this game, however. Still glad to see that Castillo is down there at the bottom.
  2. I DID say "IF"! That is the operative word here. That said, there is nothing I've seen in all of the games I've watched this year (about half of them) that would leave me to believe this team has any offensive prowess to speak of. They look like a team that can beat other mediocre teams, and that's it. They don't look like a team that can compete with the Braves or Diamondbacks. They look old and punchless.
  3. 14 hits and 8 walks. That's 22 baserunners today. 7 runs.
  4. Willie certainly loses his job. Does the club keep Rick Peterson? I hope so. Does Minaya keep his job? He shouldn't, he molded this old, punchless roster. Delgado needs to go, although I have no idea if he's under contract for 2009 or not. Castillo needs to go, but unfortunately, the only way we rid ourselves of him is to buy out the contract and that ain't happening. Sayanara to Ollie, Pedro, and El Duque. This entire starting pitching staff will need to be re-worked, but at least Johan and Maine will be there, and hopefully a CONFIDENT Pelfrey going in to 2009. About the only thing good that can happen this year if the Mets have a losing season is I suspect that Fernando Martinez will get some early time in the bigs and get some experience. Anybody see how Jonathan Niese is doing in AA ball? He is doing very well, so we may have another gem that can replace Pedro. Watching this team this year is no fun at all.
  5. The only game I've watched this season where they have WON was the 13-0 game against the Marlins. Game 2 of the season, since then, I've only viewed losses, and I'm sick of it.
  6. Well the rest of this month's schedule looks favorable.... To our opponents.
  7. Every position player on this team, except Pagan and Schneider, needs to think about what they are doing, and start doing the opposite. This team is just punchless.
  8. If you told me before this game that the Mets were going to score 7 runs with Ollie on the moiund I would've said the Mets win today.
  9. How confident are you guys in Anderson, Easley, and Schneider getting the job done versus Eric Gagne, despite his recent troubles?
  10. We've tied a Brewers record today by hitting into 5 double plays (so far). We've left 10 runners on base, as well.
  11. Well that was predictable. This team shrinks in the big moment.
  12. Delgado up with the bases loaded. Time to come through. SOMEBODY needs to come up big this season.
  13. Please Beltran. Please bail this team out. 5 double plays in 5 innings. That's retarded.
  14. It's my fault. I am watching the game today. Every game I have watched this season they have lost.
  15. This is ridiculous. I think Wright is over-anxious with runners on, and it takes him out of his usual batting approach. He's getting himself out before the first pitch is even thrown. Conversely, we are not able to get Hart or Kapler out today. That last pitch by Smith to Kapler was not a good pitch. Kapler just did the only thing he could with it and took it opposite field. Just good hitting. Boy would I love to have that guy on our team, the way he's going right now.
  16. Looks like he's looking to walk. Not a bad idea with D. Wright on deck.
  17. Well here comes Luis with a man on, he's the tying run, and there's two outs. Do you think Luis is looking to drive the ball for once? Hmmm? I swear if he tries that slappy bs swing of his I am going to :explode:
  18. Can anyone get Corey Hart out? This Brewers team can hit. I wish the Mets had half the power that they have. With Fielder, Braun, Weeks, Hall, JJ Hardy, and Gabe Kapler, they have power hitters in spades. And when Cameron comes back for them, there's another guy that can hit 30. Especially in Miller Park.
  19. Is Sosa a headcase? He gives up a homerun to Weeks and then implodes. A walk and two wild pitches in the same at-bat? He finally got one out. Intentional walk to Fielder. Hopefully Mets can get a dp here and get out of this.
  20. Well, Ollie is shooting himself in the foot. He's getting behind hitters. This inning, he started off getting behind Hart, giving up a single, then walking Hardy, and giving up another single to Kendall after a sac bunt by Suppan. In the first, he hit a batter before giving up the homer to Kapler. Speaking of Kapler, just hit a double. Man this guy kills lefties. Anyhow, this is the bad Ollie we have to put up with from time to time. A little wild, getting behind hitters, and getting himself into trouble. Despite that, he still is showing the good stuff, he's already struck out 5. Tie game, single by Braun. Wow. This is really disappointing that Perez couldn't hold this lead. Very frustrating.
  21. LOL, Jay, I was shocked, SHOCKED, I tell you, to see that Castillo had shallow outfield power! His first extra base hit of the season, and a broken bat hit at that! LOL. Ollie needs to have this lead hold up. I say walk Kapler every time and he should be okay. That guy murders lefties, as Johan and Ollie have already found.
  22. Good to see Luis Castillo attempt to bunt for a base-hit, thereby ensuring that there is absolutely zero chance of him hitting it out of the infield. OM you imgrate! Wright has gone yard! 2-1. We're going to do it. We need revenge on Suppan.
