  1. I guess I should have added Moss to this pole. My bad.
  2. haha, i cant wait for the season to start. opposing qb's are in for a hurting. welcome back to old-school hard hitting NFC east football!
  3. Everyone knows that Lavar is unbelievably talented. He is known for his "Lavar Leap" back at Penn St. and the other unbelievably athletic plays he makes. Often, it just seems as if hes the most athletic player on the field. But he had a knee injury which is reason for concern. Nobody wanted to give him an absurd salary and then end up with an injured linebacker with a huge contract. So now Lavar gets a small contract laden with incentives. This way he gets paid what he deserves. If he becomes the star that many think possible, he gets paid like it. If he gets injured and cant stay on the field he gets a modest salary. A worthy risk. The best part though, is that if he turns out to be the "uncoachable" player that a few people are worried about (I dont think he is, by the way), he gets benched and cant fulfill his incentive laden deal. A little motivation to work with the coaches. And now Lavar gets to shit on the Redskins twice a year, just like he wanted. I couldn't be happier.
  4. So glad the fab 4 aren't GM. We would have never even come close to landing him, let alone getting him for this price. This alone should erase any semblance of credibility they ever had.
  5. His senior year wasnt as good as it was expected to be... I read that it may have been due to lingering effects of his knee injury. 310 is not big enough to play LT. He needs to add weight which isnt a problem in itself since he's a big guy but if hes got knee problems adding weight might eccentuate these. Knee injuries on a lineman can be very bad. It's not that I think he's a bad LT prospect, it's just that if Im drafting our future LT Id like to make sure Im making a safe pick. Id rather take a prospect in a later round, just my preference.
  6. Im sure the fab 4 would LOVE to have Watson on our team. He's a bigger AND lazier than joseph.
  7. This guy is very intriguing at 25. If he plays anywhere near his potential he's a steal. Hopefully with the whole fat ass, unmotivated label hes been getting hell be inclined to try and prove people wrong. But then again he might be a bust of mammoth proportions. Not sure if the risk is worth it but definitely worthy of consideration.
  8. What makes you think his career is not over? All signs point point to it being finished: Hes not w/ the team, EA said they're proceeding w/o him, etc... Any links you have that show otherwise? Cromartie is considered by many to be the best corner in the draft. The only reason that there was a chance that he would fall to us was due to uncertainty regarding his knee. Now that he has shown that he's fully recovered he's easily a mid round pick and should be long gone. As for JJ, hes very talented and I dont think he will be there either. As for Marshall, he should be around when we pick but he's not ready for the NFL so he doesnt fit into the category of helping now.
  9. A few things: 1. Peterson is finished. Career is over. Everyone needs to understand this. 2. I was using the nfldraftcountdown mock as a basis for who will be available, as explained im my intro. Here were the CB's taken before us: Jimmy Williams, Cromartie, Hill, Marshall and Jonathan Joseph. While all those guys might not be taken before us on draft day, Im pretty sure that Williams, Cromartie and HIll will definitely be off the board. So going off of this here are the CB's to choose from: Aston Youboty Jennings Cedric Griffin Daniel Manning Demario Minter None of these guys would be our third CB. 4th at best.
  10. I think you draft busts when you reach for needs. If you're drafting for now, you don't draft a Cb b/c they will be down on the depth chart behind Madison, Webster, Mcquarters and probably Deloach. I just don' t think there's good value at DT at 25. Basically this draft is for depth and Deangelo gives us a GREAT backup to our most important player.
  11. Now that we've got Lavar, we don't need to draft a LB in the first round which actually gives us a ton of flexibility. Id actually like to see us trade down and capitalize on the depth of this draft and pick up an extra third rounder but for this mock I'm going ot have us stay put. Im also going to be using nfldrafcountdown's latest mock and pick from the players left on the board at 25. Round 1: Deangelo Williams RB - I know a lot of you think that Eric Winston is the pick here but I'm not completely sold on him. I dont necessarily think that he's going to be a successful LT in the NFL given his injury history and size. So if Deangelo falls to us he's my choice. This guy has been nothing but great in college and I think is one of the top 10 most talented players in the draft. DW gives us a legit backup if Tiki goes down and will be more than ready to replace him when he chooses to end his HOF career. This is Tiki's replacement IMO. A guy who will be a succssful full time RB. Also, there is no better mentor for him than Barber. Tiki will show him how to work hard, read defenses, etc. This is the ultimate BPA pick and I would love to land Deangelo on draft day. Round 2: Jon Alston LB - Our LB corps are phenomenal right now but some of they're not exactly immune to injury. Alston is one of the most athletic players in the entire draft and would be a great backup to Lavar. Round 3: Dusty Dvoaracek DT - Here we get a smart, hardworking DT that we need to occupy blockers so that our LB's can make plays all day long. He's exactly what we need in the middle to compliment WJ and I think he can be a starter from day 1. This guy's got everything I would want in a DT and would be an ideal pick here. Round 4: Devin Aromashadu WR - A very fast, big receiver who excels at going deep. Is probably a year or two away from being a big threat but he adds another body to compete for the third WR spot. He's got the size and speed you look for in a WR prospect. Round 5: Seppo Evwaraye OT - A huge, talented offensive lineman. He's got the size and speed you look for. From Finland and only started playing football in 1999 so hes very raw. I think that LP is our LT for the next 2 years, regardless of who we draft and maybe 2 years from now, Seppo has refined his technique and can replace LP. He's committed to getting better and is worth the late round pick. Round 7: Shawn Ellis FB - Big guy who likes to hit. Played defense before FB so he can be a big contributor on special teams. Oldschool fullback.
  12. Well, maybe 2nd best... Reggie Bush is a freak. Both of these guys have the potential to "redefine" their positions.
  13. I'm beginning to think that we should trade down and take advantage of this drafts depth. We would have to reach for a DT, WR, OT or CB at 25 and think that we could trade down into the early second round. A trade with the 49ers for example, would probably give us an extra third rounder and then they would be able to grab one of the few remaing good LBs left, a big need of theirs since they just lost JP. This is just an example so dont get worked up over it. At that spot, we would still be able to add a very good player, I would like to see us go DT here and we get an extra third. This would give us a very valuable draft pick to add some depth at positions where we are thin.
  14. Heres something from the worldwide leader: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2417528
  15. The more and more I think about it, Im beginning to think that Watson might be worth taking the risk on in the 1st round. I think having someone like Strahan as a linemate is priceless in terms of learning the intangibles. Osi says that he would be nowhere near this good if he didnt have a mentor like Strahan to teach him the valuable lesson of putting in the extra work -- whether its weightroom, film, etc. I think that playing for a defensive line as good as ours, that has SB aspirations, would rub off on anybody and that Watson might actually be motivated to give good effort. In which case, he could be the dominating DT that would make our DLine the undeniable best in football.
  16. Regardless of whether or not we sign Arringtion, we go with BPA. Here's by breakdown of BPA at 25: WR: Unless Jackson or Holmes we pass on WR. DT: Bunkley and Ngata will be long gone. Only possible DT is Gabe Watson but I think there are just too many question marks surrounding this guy to justify the risk, especially given the talent that should be available. RB: I think if Deangelo Williams is available, he deserves some serious consideration, everyone else gets a pass. OT: Maybe. Personally I think we can draft a solid LT in rounds 2-4 and get a defensive player. CB: If Cromartie falls to us (unlikely) he'd at least be the player w/ the most potential left in the draft and would be a solid pick. Other corners to consider, J. Joseph, Hill, Youboty, Richard Marshall, Kelly Jennings. LB: Given the quality of LB's, even if we sign LA, I think we'd be dumb to pass on this group. Emmons is close to being done, Lavar had major knee issues, Torbor's still developing, Brandon Short is a backup... We have issues here, LA or not and it's more than likely that one of the Greenway, Carpenter and Ryans trio will be available for us. I still think one of these guys is the way to go even if we sign Lavar. I think the safest one out of those guys is Ryans.
  17. Im kinda worried about Carpenter. I just think that he might have become overrated by playing next to Hawk. I think hes a solid LB at best but just doesnt have the potential to be great. I also don't see him fitting into our defense like some of the other potential draftees: sims, ryans or greenway. Its highly probable that at least one of these 1st round ranked LB's will be a bust and my money's on Carpenter. Also the nasty ankle injury isnt a plus.
  18. According to the draft trade chart they would have to give up their second rounder.
  19. Guys that I thought went later than they should have: Abdul Rod Wright Alston ---- way way way too late
  20. One thing that I noticed watching and participating in the draft is the depth of talent. Maybe it's just that Im paying close attention to the draft for really the first time this year, but it seemed as if there were still very solid players to pick throughout the entirety of this draft. I knew that LB's were deep but having Jon Alston go in the third!!! That just shows how many quality LB's are available this year. Which made me reconsider our first round pick. All along I've thought that our only options at 25 are Ryans, Carpenter or Greenway but I've begin to think that we should at least consider taking Watson if he's available at 25. I would argue that our greatest need is at DT. I think that even if we draft a LB in the first he won't win a starting job but that a first round rookie would. Gabe Watson has the talent to be a dominating tackle but he hasnt put it together yet (to say the least) but he could really help our team. I think a possible DLine of Strahan, Watson, Joseph, Osi and Tuck could be VERY good. We could take one of the remaining LB's w/ our second round pick: Hodge or Alston are two tempting ones that come to mind right away. Thoughts? Money, whats your take on Watson?
  21. I actually think Deangelo is a great RB and if he is there we would need to seriously consider drafting him.
  22. Pizan, what do you think of my updated mock? Im all for reaching to get Dusty. Id trade a future draft pick to move up in the third if that's what we think its going to take. It shouldnt bee too expensive and I think hes worth it.
