  1. I'd rather RW than Terrell Buckley!!!!!! That's about all I can say that's positive on this one. If we were going to sign reserve cornerbacks I'd much rather have seen us take a run at Ricky Manning Jr.
  2. Too bad he's softer than Todd Pinkston. You see the video clip where he ducked when the ball was thrown to him?
  3. Who knows ... maybe we'll draft a certain Mr. Bunkley! (Fingers crossed)
  4. I dunno ... the Redskins are starting to run out of money
  5. Ayodele underachieved in Jacksonville. I'm fine with the Cowboys signing him. I will be sorry to see them solve their kicking woes though.
  6. The cap swelled much higher than teams expected this year. Most teams have money to spend. After coming to an agreement with Arrington the Skins saved just under 5 mil. Then they restructured several contracts, including Brunell. The Skins are giving huge signing bonuses but they're also writing long contracts. By doing this the cap hit gets spread out longer but isn't as high year to year. It's a bit of a crazy way of doing things but when the owner has deep pockets and doesn't care ow much he's spending it's an effective way of operating under the cap.
  7. He's OK in coverage, he's just not a big interceptions guy. He's not a real flashy player but he can defintiely get the job done.
  8. The salary cap elevating to it's current figure has helped the Skins a lot. They won't need to cut nearly as many players as what was originally estimated. I still think the QB situation will be their undoing.
  9. The Cardinals making a splash in free agency shouldn't surprise anyone. They've got a brand new stadium and a bunch of luxury suites to sell. Bidwell knows that winning sells tickets. Big name free agents doesn't hurt either. I still think the Cards need to improve on defense before they're a playoff team but playing in the NFC West helps their chances. The Niners will still be miserable. If the Rams can fix their defense they should at least be a .500 team. Seattle will take a small step back.
  10. Archuleta makes a lot of plays but he makes a lot of mistakes too. Wonder if this punches Ryan Clark's exit visa?
  11. Demps is a bit underrated. He's a solid safety. I love his tackling skills. However, similar to many people the Giants have had manning the spot prior to him, Demps isn't a huge playmaker. Regardless, I wouldn't be upset to see him in Giants Blue.
  12. Tennessee signed OLB David Thornton away from Indianapolis. Excellent move by the Titans. They weaken a division rival and gain a valuable contributor on defense. Sort of reminds me of when we signed Antonio Pierce last year. I would've loved to have seen us land Thornton. He's entering the prime of his career. He's shown he can play either strong or weak side. The guy is an every down linebacker who's equally adept in defending the run and pass. I sorta got my hopes up.
  13. In any other year Randle-El wouldn't attract nearly as much attention. But coming off the Super Bowl and factor in a weak free agent class of Wideouts and the guy is suddenly a superstar? I don't see it. Good player? yes. Dominant? Hardly. Speaking of which, I have yet to hear if God told him to sign with Washington.
  14. You clowns couldn't find Albany if I spotted you the A, L, B, A, and the N
  15. Pickett was a former first round pick of the Rams and never lived up to potential. For a stretch he even had a hard time cracking the starting lineup. However he came on last season and actually played some good ball. The talent and potential are there but so far his career has followed the path of an underachiever. Bernard has a high motor and is coming off his best season as a pro. He'll have plenty of suitors. I don't think we're a favorite in that race but it sure would be nice.
  16. Call me crazy but I think Randle El's stock rose way too much this offseason. The guy is a complimentary player. His versatility is nice but as far as being a true wideout, the guy is limited. If this years free agent receiver class wasn't so weak ARE wouldn't be getting nearly as much pub.
  17. I don't think Joseph has fulfilled my expectations but by no means would I consider him a bust. I'm encouraged by the progress he made last season and if he continues to improve we'll be fine. He's better at rushing the passer than I thought he'd be, even at this stage of his career. However I'd like to see him anchor versus the run better. I will say that he seems to have shaken off some of the laziness he showed earlier in his career. We're definitely a better team with him in the lineup than we are without.
  18. I'm thrilled Philly didn't land Bentley. I thought for sure he'd be an Eagle. Watch what happens in Seattle. I bet Philly makes a run at G Steve Hutchinson.
  19. Why is Smith a scumbag? Hell, if Marty had listened to what Smith directed, Brees wouldn't have a torn labrum right now. Instead Shittenheimer sticks with his guy in a meaningless game and Brees destroys his shoulder. Methinks Marty is the idiot in that village.
  20. 4 year 8.1 million. No mention of what the signing bonus was. That's not an expensive deal. I'm curious as to what the Giants were offering as I would've been OK with Clancy getting this contract from us. That said, this is a deep free agent class at the Defensive Tackle position. Provided we move quickly we can find a suitable replacement or rent an older guy for a seson or two. I would've loved to see us get Kemoeatu but Carolina just signed him. Arrington is scheduled to visit the Giants on the 12th.
  21. Givens hasn't even visite Cleveland and fell off their radar once he started talking about his financial desires. It was a bogus report.
  22. 2 million dollar signing bonus! That's peanuts. Especially when you consider a guy like Ty Law, who isn't even playing at the same level is seeking 7 mil a year with a 10 million signing bonus. Yeah ... good luck with that Ty! This is a solid move all around. Veteran player to mentor the younger guys. He'll bolster our secondary's performance and he was a relative bargain. Good start to our free agency class.
  23. Going back to the subject this thread was originally about ... don't be surprised if the Eagles end up with one of the best free agent linemen on the market. I'll be shocked if they don't sign either Hutchinson or Bentley.
  24. He gave me the opposite impression when he was asked what it would take to get him to play for the Fins .. his answer: "A 10 million dollar signing bonus" Doesn't sound like guy who's sole goal is winning another title before he retires.
