  1. I'm a bit surprised by the manlove for Glover. Good player? Yes. Dominant? Not amynore. Also I'd much prefer a run stuffer than a pass rusher if we don't retain Clancy. Now that the Rams have signed Glover I guess this argument is all for naught anyway. Assuming price were no option I wouldn't have a problem with Sam Adams, Ted Washington or Trevero Pryce but then again all 3 have always had inflated self worth.
  2. FWIW, Antonio Pierce supposedly is selling the Giants brass on Arrington at every opportunity. Doesn't mean we'll sign the guy but it doesn't hurt his chances either. That being said, of what I've read CB Sam Madison sounds like the most likely signing.
  3. Isn't the first post of this entire thread the one where you recommend drafting a WR in the first round?
  4. It's human nature for those that don't go all the way to poke holes in the success of the Champions. It would likely be similar had we won it all this year. There would still be the random idiot that would chalk up the championship to an extra home game versus the Saints. I don't think the strike year is a good comparison though. Quality players will still take the field, there just will be a lot of them in different uniforms.
  5. I typically side with ownership in most of these labor disputes but I'm shocked that these fatcats are actually going to screw this up. Even if they give the players the 60% share they're looking for the owners still win. They've got the best thing going in professional sports right now. Yet they're letting it all unravel. Upshaw has said the players will never agree to a salary cap structure again if they get an uncapped year and I've got to say from a player standpoint, I can't argue with him. Meanwhile the idiot owners are standing pat watching, while the cash machine they built themselves is being wheeled out to the parking lot.
  6. Can you provide a link where Ty Law makes it clear his motivation is to win a Super Bowl? Everything I've heard come out of his mouth sounds like a guy looking for a fat paycheck first, title contender second.
  7. The Eagles do an exceedingly good job of managing their cap. Some will argue they're too constrictive and don't spend enough to improve the team on a year to year basis. Regardless, their basic tenet has been not to award large contracts to aging players which goes a long way towards preventing dead money. That's while you'll likely see OT Jon Runyan with another team or with just a 1-2 year deal. The Eagles simply won't give a guy like that a fat 6 year deal with a huge signing bonus, which at this point is likely a shrewd move.
  8. Somebody needs to throw in the towel from Revival's corner.
  9. Pizan, if you keep naming my players I'm going to think you hacked into my computer. Simms and Bunkley are on my short list too.
  10. Wow .... all I can say is wow.
  11. Actually of the top tight end prospects, Davis is among the shortest.
  12. AMEN BROTHER!!!!! Who said the Irish and the Italians couldn't get along?
  13. Revival .... I don't think we're disagreeing on most of our points. If you read the whole thread you'll likely see that the extremist views and projections are coming from the trolls. The NFL Draft has never produced a "lock".
  14. Sims. Has the highest ceiling of all of them. Incredibly talented. The only area he's lacking is height but he's plenty big enough to play weakside.
  15. It's bad for everybody. It's really bad for the Redskins.
  16. Sims plays with such reckless abandon the FSU coaches had to hold him back in practice out of fear he'd hurt his teammates! I don't think Howard is even close to the player Ernie is.
  17. Generally speaking, I think you went with too many offensive players. I do like that you added a Tackle prospect but I'd prefer to see a guy who might be groomed for the Left Side. Granted the scouts rarely forecast guys past the 1st or 2nd round as potential Left Tackles, but based on description, Whitworth's footwork will keep him on the right side. I'm awfully nervous at the thought of Cromartie in the 1st. That injury factor scares me. I also think Cromartie could be a guy who falls into the 2nd. Who knows, maybe we get lucky. I don't like the thought of a sub 300 pound defensive tackle who's specialty is the pass rush. I'd much rather go after a space eater like Broderick Bunkley who will be an immovable object in the running game. I'm confident enough in our outside pass rush that I'd much prefer our middle to be stout. That being said Wroten is definitely not my guy in the second round, although Bunkley won't be there at that point either. I'm OK with a Skyler Green type on the second day but I agree he likely isn't there in the 6th.
  18. Ernie drafts Ernie .... I like the sound of that!
  19. I'd be happy with a blue collar guy like Dvoracek in the 4th. I'm not high on Carpenter in the first. I also still need convincing on Howard. I think there are better options out there. Ernie Sims brings a smile to my face.
  20. I wholeheartedly agree that 40 times do not guarantee performance. But I'll also say that a tight end that can run a 4.4 is a major surprise. Davis rocketing up draftboards based on his combine is a yearly occurrence. Every year there are players who explode at the combine. Some follow it up on the field, some don't. Davis still has to prove himself regardless. But to slight him for where he attended college is as much a mistake as inflating him based on his running speed. As I mentioned before, Maryland was breaking in a new QB last year. A tight end can only have so much influence on his team's success. You're not really suggesting that people back off on Davis because his club went 5-6 last year are you? Does that mean Mario Williams shouldn't go top 10 because the WolfPack was a game over .500 and also played in the same conference? FWIW, Davis was already considered a first round selection. He just might go 10-15 picks sooner now.
  21. Typically speaking you'd rather your strong safety have some bulk to him if he's going to be asked to provide run support. But it would be a mistake to say that a small guy can't man the position. There are plenty of undersizes safeties who can lay the lumber. Bob Sanders of Indy comes to mind here. I think our fallbaclk plan may already be in place with the offseason signings of Brimmer and Shivers. If we don't bring in another guy through free agency hopefully one of these two can play well enough to win a spot and provide safety depth. They're polar opposites of each other - Shivers is more of a coverage guy, Brimmer is a hitter. Both were respected collegiate players. I agree I'd rather see a proven veteran back there in a starting role but having either one of these guys for depth may not be all that different from James Butler.
  22. I only saw one of Davis's runs through the gauntlet and unfortunately he was on the receiving end of some bad passes. I did notice that he wasn't running top flight in the drill, something the scouts don't like to see. He also caught some of the passes with his body which is a big no-no but they were also thrown slightly behind him. Despite this his 40 time can't be thrown out. Just as impressive was his vertical leap. Before you start dissing ACC football and Maryland's program realize that both have taken pretty big steps forward in the last decade. Maryland is completely reborn under Ralph Friedgen. The guy runs a complex offense although he had to scale it back last season due to inexperience at QB. Discounting players based on where they attended school is a pet peeve of mine. If the talent was only in the major programs there would be a lot less draft worthy candidates. FWIW the defending Defensive Rookie of the Year is a Maryland grad. Would you have said Gates isn't draft worth off of his college credentilas?
  23. I really struggle to see a scenario where Law is a Giant but I do agree that we will let Will Allen walk and we will bring in some secondary help in the offseason. If we were to go after a big ticket CB I think it would be Charles Woodson before Law but in both cases I think the chances are slim. I'm nervous that we're considering Julian Peterson. I'm not that high on him.
  24. I agree on both points. I don't think Whittle gets cut if Seubert can't handle the #2 center slot. I also agree that Torbor, while being more athletic than Emmons, still isn't the playmaking type I'd want to see manning the weak side long term. I'm simply pointing out that I do think Torbor is equipped to handle WLB if it came down to it. This WLB spot is an area that if filled properly, with a dynamic playmaking type, could reap huge benefits for this defense. Look at where we were before Antonio Pierce was signed. Now imagine if we had a similarly talented guy on the outside who could wreak havoc. I'm not donw with my LB research but I've got to say, at this point Ernie Sims in round one wouldn't upset me.
