  1. I was never a huge Shockey fan... and why? Because he's always been such an asshole that even when he's making big catches, he's hard to root for. I'm not sad to see him go one bit. We won the Super Bowl without him; we'll be fine.
  2. 1. You have 100 billion dollars and a football team bequeathed to you. You get 60 billion, and 60% of the football team. You use 600 million or so to pay for the tax on the remainder of the team. 2. You're a trust fund baby who's had money stashed away since you were a twinkle in your old man's eye. Please. Not be able to afford it? You've gotta be kidding, Lube. When have you EVER seen that?
  3. Yeah, I always shed a tear when multi-millionaires have to pay taxes. If it bugs them so much, tho, they can donate their money to the Make Sephiroth Rich Foundation, and I'll even pay 75% of the value of the shares so long as they give me all the money they have. See? Problem solved! Everyone's happy! Maybe they can throw in Kate Mara too as a deal sweetener!
  4. ...almost makes you wonder how they did it for 80+ years without PSLs, right?
  5. I don't know... but I do know I'm def. gonna go this year. I was gonna go to a bunch last year but my niece got sick and put the kibosh on those plans. Now with her up and healthy I'm gonna hit camp at least a couple of times.
  6. ...I guess Tiki needed the Giants more than the Giants needed Tiki, huh? Just sayin'
  7. You know, I always knew Bob Papa was good. But I never realized HOW good he was until I got a Sirius radio and had a chance to listen to all the other guys. I'd be on the Giants station and Papa would tell me the formation, what Eli was doing pre-snap, who was in motion in what direction, the snap, where Eli was looking, who was open, the pass, the completion, and the yard line. I'd flip over to the Eagles station... the next play would have the snap, the play, and sometimes the yard line. Not just that, but his commentary (which is usually pretty sparse) is always spot-on. There's never been a time where I've been listening to Papa and said to myself, "what the hell game is HE watching?" We're really lucky as Giant fans... we've got THE BEST guy doing our play-by-play.
  8. Sign Ron Dayne... he's never had a chance playing behind Tiki... and move Jason Sehorn to safety.
  9. Yeah that's the thing about fantasy... it's all stats. There are no stats for determination, desire, and heart. The Giants D should conceivably be a top-5 D, but aside from that... Eli's numbers were average and streaky. Plax was a monster in the beginning of the year but faded (numbers-wise) at the midway point. Jacobs was a pretty good back but how many carries will he get with Bradshaw now in the mix... and don't forget that Derrick Ward is a better-than-average guy too... and Droughns stole goal-line carries at times last season as well. Teams like Dallas have all of their talent up front, in their starters. The Giants are deep, but perhaps not as front-loaded as many of the other teams in the NFL.
  10. They HAVE to win for best upset, and if Tyree and Eli don't win Best Play there's something seriously wrong... that might be the single greatest play in Super Bowl history. I'd say Best Game and Best Team are also plausible.
  11. Gotta agree. He played better on a torn ankle than most receivers do on two good ones, then had a sprained MCL AND a mildly seperated shoulder in the Super Bowl, and all he did was beat his man by 10 yards to catch the game winning TD pass. He deserves to get paid.
  12. Dude, that show is fucking weird. My niece watches it and its just creepy. The little girl is a cute kid and a pretty good actress, but everything else is just scary.
  13. Comics are all supply and demand. Books from the 70's and earlier are worth money cuz only 100,000 or so would be printed, and most were discarded after they were read. Books from the 80's and later aren't worth anything because millions were printed, and everyone holds on to them. The "Death of Superman" book that "lists" for 20 bucks can't be sold to any shop, because they already have 30 copies of it that they can't sell. Who knows with DvDs. Maybe they'll be worth something, maybe not. But in either event, right now I'm watching the Giants beat Dallas. Seriously, this rules.
  14. Dude, wanna hear something funny? There's another kid in town here that totally looks like Eli... I've been waiting to run into him again to take some pics. The last time I saw him I congratulated him on his "Super Bowl Win" and he seemed kinda pissed about it.
  15. I just got my Giants "Road to XLII" dvd set... I'm so stoked! I'm watching the Giants beat Green Bay right now!
  16. It's official: ALL NYG highlights are better with Bob Papa yelling play-by-play behind 'em.
  17. The one that sticks out for me the most is the pick-6 vs. the Bills that sealed our playoff berth. Man, that was clutch.
  18. I thought Wilkinson was going to compete for the job but got hurt in training camp. All I know is that he looked darn good filling in for Mitchell towards the end of last season. I'll bet we don't miss a beat.
  19. No, Wellington Mara was the guy who chose to forego literally millions of dollars every year by voting for the NFL's collective bargaining agreement so that the Arizonas and Jacksonvilles of the NFL could have francises. If anything, he proved time and time again that he was all about the good of the game and the NFL and not about making hand-over-fist money... especially not by screwing the little guy.
  20. I have to say that I'm not really thrilled with John Mara so far. From the stars on the sidelines (which was never a NYG thing), to some of the things that have come out of the front office regarding players, and now this. Seriously... sticking the fans with 1,000 each to keep their seats in the new stadium? Wellington Mara would have NEVER allowed that shit. Lame, lame, lame.
  21. Yeah but I feel the difference is now we have a power O-line. In the Fassel/Collins era it was definitely more of a finesse line, which is why we were manhandled by the Ravens in the Super bowl. Snee, McKenzie, and Seubert are all maulers, and though Diehl is barely above average in pass protection, just watch him on his man when they run behind him. The only finesse guy is O'Hara.
  22. At this point in their careers, I'd definitely pick Eli over Simms. Eli is just starting to become the QB we hoped he'd be when we drafted him, and Phil hasn't thrown a pass since his number was retired. He's probably really rusty.
