  1. That was an exciting all star game...homers galore. I've never seen an all star game like that before. Usually it's a 3-2 game, pitching dominates...not this time. But as usual the al wins. The world series is going to be a slaughter....the al team will demolish the nl team in a 4 game sweep. The playoff al teams are so much better than the nl playoff teams...at least until trades are mmade...but even then, the three beasts in the al are just so much better than any team in the nl
  2. Trout goes solo too Wilson Contreras goes solo for the nl Al lead 2-1 in the sixth
  3. Mad max gets out of a first and third to start it off. deGrom should have been the starter...but it's scherzers home park so there we are
  4. me too..always has. It's good to have a second wild card, but it's not good that it's a one game do or die. That's not how baseball is..baseball is about series...not one game playoffs...its not football
  5. yes, that the flaw in the second wildcard...they should follow Japan's lead....best of three with the team with the better record having to win only one game, the team with the lesser record needs to win two games. They'd have to shorten the regular season by three, actually four games, but who cares. If they're going to make a second wild card, they should make it a little more fair
  6. Yankees need pitching...but there isn't really anyone worth trading for. I have faith in Cushman, he is as shrewd and savvy as they come....a trade ninja. The offense will get better, not that it's been bad, but they have missed sanchez and the phenom torres. They'll both be back after the all star break. The bullpen has been excellent as expected but they've been overworked....i worry about them down the stretch...robertson, betances, green all have well over the amount of innings and appearance you'd like to see at the all star break. Boston doesn't lose...but their schedule gets tough in the second half...yankees had a very tough schedule in the first half...and they have the best record against teams over 500...which is nice...their second half schedule gets easier ...but they need to annihilate the orioles...they can't split 4 game series with them..they need to sweep 3 game series with them and take 3 of 4 in 4 game series. If they find themselves in the wild card c rap shoot, they can blame their record against the o's for it. All that said, its an exciting young team thay will contend for many years...but they need some pitching...starting and relief. The bullpen is already taxed...theu need innings from the starters to lighten the bullpens load. Hopefully cashman can pull a rabbit out of his hat...if blame Snell is available, they have to throw the kitchen sink to get him...thay means anyone not named gleyber.
  7. Just trade deform across town...cashman was quoted as saying, people have said we can deal right now, but I don't like what they're asking in return and my team has the best record in baseball so I'll wait...we can win with what we have. Gangsta ass ninja cashmoney
  8. I thought that Callaway would have been a good manager..hes horrendous.
  9. Sad news about Alderson. I guess ricciardi, minaya or Ricco will take over in the interim
  10. Funny. I remember when Jay Bruce was a top, if not the top prospect in baseball...not that he's had a bad career...just hasn't been the 40+ hr, 300 ave, 400 obp, hitting monster he was projected to be. That why you trade prospects...they rarely become what they're hyped to be
  11. Crazy...it's a game of youth and the Mets position players are mostly on the wrong side of thirty. Nimmo was a first round pick, he should be playing every day. No first baseman no second baseman a young ss that needs to develop and an ancient outfielder other than nimmo. You know who has young infielders and outfielders? The Yankees. It's like they're meant to trade with each other. Drury us a 25 year old infielder who hasn't reached his potential..he is a all star if he just got the playing time...unfortunately andujar and torres aren't going back down, they're the future. Clint Frazier, Billy McKinney are major league ready outfielders..even Tyler wade can play the outfiel. Comforting, nimmo and Frazier or McKinney is a good, young outfielder. Turn hurtspedes into a first baseman and there's a start
  12. I don't know why Seth lugo isn't a fixture in the Mets rotation. Every time I've seen him, he has been good. Good stuff..gets better every year. Why isnt he in the rotation..he is their third best pitcher imo. If they want to trade him, is take him on the Yankees in a heartbeat. I really like him. How do you Mets fans feel about him? And it doesn't make a difference which team is better when it comes to the subway series...theyre always close games no matter where each teams sits in the standings and or how they're playing leading up to it...i never bank on a sweep..most of the time it's like 4 games to two or 3 to 3 for the season series
  13. i wasn't only talking about the pitcher hitting..which is stupid..but I was also and mainly talking about interleague play. It makes the schedule unbalanced...that alone should have everyone wanting it to go away. But it creates revenue for MLB so it will never happen
  14. that's not an answer...its stupid and makes for an unbalanced schedule..amongst other things. Cespedes just can't get on the field, just read that he was pulled from a minor league rehab game for a quad injury. He's getting paid like a million dollars for every major league game he plays...the new carl pagan. If he was healthy all year, the Mets wouldn't have fell off like they have. It's got to be so frustrating to be a Mets fan. Awful owner won't allow them to contend
  15. you think interleague play is good for the game? It makes for an unbalanced schedule. Bud selig was an awful commissioner, Manfred should get rid of it. And pitchers hitting is stupid. They don't hit at any other level...even national league teams have pitchers getting hurt on the base paths/burning, getting hit while burning etc. It's stupid, dangerous and gives teams an automatic out 95% of the time
  16. Fucking interleague play. I don't understand why they have to do this. You know how many sports have different rules for each of their leagues? NONE because it's fucking stupid. Not to mention, in baseball it creates a completely unbalanced schedule. Get rid of interleague play and pitchers don't hit in the world series no matter the park. if the archaic nl wants to keep their pitchers hitting, that's fine, but get rid of interleague play
  17. sorry to hear that Chuck. I know chemotherapy is an motherfucker. I can only imagine..I take some pretty strong psych meds..chemoesque...but not even close..I should not have even compared the two. But I get awful side effects from meds that make me want to stop taking them and wanting to die when the side effects are at their worst. What a horrible thing to happen to your friend. I have a knot in my stomach after reading that. Fuck cancer...and neurological diseases.
  18. you can't keep all your prospects. Not enough room. That's why you build a strong, deep farm system...so you can keep the guys you think are your major league stars and trade the other ones. Hold on to the really young high upside guys so they're ready when the current twenty somethings are thirty I hate the cliche "it's a good problem to have" No, a problem is a problem and they're never good to have....that's why you trade You have under thirty players at every position on the yankees except for Gardner and cc..maybe Robertson. Players are blocked by major league contributors that are same age or close. Didi is a guy I'd trade
  19. like last year!!! Yanks will take degrom. He's 30!! I knew he was older than the rest..came up older, but I can't believe he is 30 already. Maybe that will reduce the price for his services.... fingers crossed
  20. no Chuck, it won't take all those guys...but Frazier, abreu, Sheffield, Estrada and florial would probably get it done. Which is a tremendous hall for the Giants. A major league ready 23 year old outfielder that has perennial all star written all over him. A just about major league ready left handed pitcher that projects to be a major league number 2. A right hander that's a year away with number 1 stuff and projection. An infielder who has done nothing but rake at every level...just about major league ready and a young freak fibe tool out fielder that has super star ceiling. That's an offer no team can refuse for any player not named Mike trout...and that might even get him. Point is, the yankees have the talent to trade for any player they want if that player is available and they'll still have a top ten farm system...that's how deep the yankees system is...and they did great in this year's draft...same as the last three drafts prior. Clarke Schmidt is going to be a top of the rotation arm. He is expected to start in Staten island...then look for him to cruise through the system next year... possibly making his major league debut at some point after the 2019 all star break
  21. there's nothing worth trading for... unless the Giants are out of it and the yankees throw the kitchen sink to land bumgarner, they might be better off trading for Brad hand
  22. The wildcard is going to be bullshit this year..the Yankees, red Sox, Mariners and Astros all might win 100+ games and two of them will have to play a one game crap shoot. Like the 103 win pirates had to play the cubs with a possessed arietta on the mound
