ksm7
With all the Burress discussions, the dog hasn't noticed any accolades to the front office for structuring the contract wisely...not that it necessarily took a great genius to protect themselves from a burress-type character, but it was still good planning... Allstarjim
You are correct Dog. The FO of the Giants have really been amazing. They have made wise contract decisions (letting Wilson/Mitchell go), drafted amazingly well, had faith in Coughlin when few else did, and as you mentioned, protected themselves with the Plaxico contract. Furthermore, just dealing with Plaxico and other discipline problems prior to this incident. They have been measured and fair. Reese, Coughlin, Tisch and Mara are big reasons why the Giants are one of the top organizations in the NFL, on and off the field.

When all of this first broke, a few people brought that up before anyone else. Pay closer attention dog. Or better yet, just scram.

Mitchell has had an outstanding year in Buffalo and would have been even better here.

Or better yet, just scram. you know, for all of the recent accusations that the dog follows you around made by others here, the dog still maintains that if someone had the time and/or inclination (and the dog sure hopes they don't for their own well-being) to reexamine threads over the last year and a half, it would be quite obvious that you in fact initiate a large majority of the interactions... I agree with the post... I'm just waiting for a 2nd post in which you bash the Giants.... god forbid you gave them credit for an 11-1 record... not really a single weakness on this team this year. It must be driving you nuts.

Nas
Why was that a good decision? Mitchell has had an outstanding year in Buffalo and would have been even better here. At the time of his departure and given the amount of money the Bills paid him, many of us thought letting him go was the right thing to do. Sure we'd would've liked him to stay but the thinking was he was out of our price range and that his success was a product of the system more than anything. Mitchell had a great year for us and I do like him... and he has had a nice season in Buffalo. I'm just saying we got a pretty good replacement veteran linebacker for a lot less. From a purely personnel standpoint, it would have been a mistake to let him go. But from a fiduciary standpoint, we did the right thing in not paying him the top money he got from Buffalo.
