Just a rumor

this better not be true, but I was going through metsblog and there is a poster claiming that he heard on ESPN radio that the Mets are close to trading LMillz to the White Sox for Contreras and a pitching prospect. If this turns out to be true, I am done. The thought of it makes me sick to my stomach, even if it is false. We don't need any more starting pitching yet two of them. This better not be true. :brooding:

I'd do it, only if Mark Burhle(sp) were in it.

I mean, that would make 7 quality starters and 8 when Pedro

comes back, what the hell do we do then?

Martinez, Glavine, Maine, Perez, Sosa, Pelfrey, El Duque

Contreras???

Glavine is hardly a quality starter, he can come out and shit a duck anynight, same with El Duque. Best case they will each need a couple of weeks rest to be ready for a playoff push.

Contreras does not seem worth Milledge to me, but Buehrle would be. Unless outfielders start getting healthy real quick Millage will continue to be a Met.

Pardon a Yankees fan for interjecting, Milledge for Contreras.......... didn't anyone pay attention to how bad Contreras was as a Yankee? Bringing him back to NY in that media spotlight wouldn't be the best thing for him as he wilted here once already.

Not only that I've got to be honest, I really don't think that Milledge is all that great. Certainly has his personality issues and anyone that gets a escort to his first MLB game from the GM just reeks of locker room cancer to me.

I heard they were going to trade for the human crash test dummy. I dont see that happeneing, as he is the dbacks best player, leading the team in every offensive category, and theyre only 3 games out of their division.

But, he is a perfect fit for the mets, if he really is available, they should grab him as long as they dont have to give away too much. Id give them Heilman and Gomez or Mooledge...of course under the condition that he will sign an extension with them....I think he'd be a superstar in NY

And you would be dumber than Jim Duquette and the guy who thought it was a good idea to trade Liriano and Nathan for Pierzenski combined.

I agree, but I do think he has the talent to be a successful major leaguer. He had a great spring, and has been very good in the minors this year, and he really missed an opportunity to showcase himself with all the injuries to the Mets outfield by being out due to injury himself. I think the Mets missed a bigger opportunity, because I do think he is ready and his trade value might have sky rocketed if he had played as much as Carlos Gomez.

We'll see what he can do this week. Met fans, let's hope he tears it up from now until the deadline, because I do not think he is in the team's long term plans anymore.

I would love to see that nutjob in a Met uniform. I love Byrnes and his style of play. A shot of energy is what this team needs, too, but Pedro is bringing that with him next month.
