  1. From USA Today Please, let training camp come soon... The Giants piece is a bit of rehash, but reinforcement is good. The McNabb quote is classic:"I have never been in a situation where I would talk bad about my receivers." Oh no?
  2. I think Cooper was a wide receiver that had a career ending injury in college.
  3. You're comparing apples and oranges here--Barry Sanders was one of the best, if not the best running backs to play the game. Compare that to my statement that Archie Manning was not a bad quarterback. See the difference? Although the quarterback is traditionally the leader of the offense, it's also the position that is probably the most dependent on the abilities of his teammates. Name me a single RB on the Saints in the 70s. No? OK, how about WR? TE? Lineman? So who was Manning handing off to? Throwing to? And how long did he have to throw it? And he still went to two probowls, was in the top five of the league in completions 3 years, and in the top 10 in passing tds for 3 years. All in a time when the rules were FAR less friendly to the QB position or the passing game on in general. The mediocrity that Sanders was playing with would have been an UPGRADE for the 70's Saints. The Saints weren't even mediocre on either side of the ball. The only reason they weren't the biggest laughing stock of the league in the 70's was because of those great Tampa Bay teams of '76-'77. And even Tampa Bay saw the playoffs in '79. Their defense only got good in the mid-80's, well after Manning was gone. Yes #1 picks go to bad teams--but usually the bad team tries to build a team around that player. That wasn't the case for the Saints.
  4. Sorry, Archie wasn't a bad quarterback. 2-time pro-bowler on a below-.500 team speaks for itself. That normally doesn't happen for a quarterback for a losing team. He was in the top 10 of the league multiple seasons in every stat there is a record (I hope I'm clear that I don't mean top ten in every stat for a given season). By the time he got to Houston and Minnesota, he had already gotten the snot knocked out of him for 10 years at NO. At the time he was jumping back and forth to Houston and Minnesota, those teams weren't exactly powerhouses, either. Look for yourself I'm not really not an Archie Manning fan, just like to see respect given when it is due.
  5. Dhani Jones. Thought he was a jackass while with the Giants, you can only imagine what I think of him now. I would buy an ipod just to hear his death rattle.
  6. Get used to seeing those three words in a lot of sentences...
  7. From a personnel standpoint, there's no excuses. They have the pieces, it's a matter of how well it's put together. From the sound of it, things are looking good on that aspect as well. But I remember a lot of big talk just before 2003, as well.
  8. Honestly, I'm more concerned about Philly than I am Dallas. Their defense should be good, but their offense, even with TO, doesn't scare me in the least. That QB and line just don't cut it for me. And truthfully, I don't think Parcell's heart is in it anymore.
  9. From what I've read about Bunkley understanding their defense, he's probably not going to be a big factor this coming season. They better hope a rookie tackle (Justice) isn't, so the draft won't be important factor this year. We'll see about how McNabb recovers from last season. The NFC seems to be more competitive than it has been for the better part of a decade. Seattle, Carolina, and Tampa Bay all seem to be at an upswing, and there might even be a team in the Central division that shows some signs of life in Chicago. The same with the NFC East. The Eagles are not going to get away with the flaws that they have like they did in the past 4-5 seasons, or like we did when we reached the Superbowl. Nobody will.
  10. I'm hoping 4-2, because that'll win the division. 3-3 hopes for a wildcard.
  11. We were going nowhere with that offensive line, even if Seubert didn't go down.
  12. I would be happy if he just stayed on the field for 16 games. When he's been on the field, he hasn't been bad, just not somebody that jumps to your attention.
  13. The Journal News Decent article. Talks about the mood from camp, that Fred Robbins got bigger and faster, and how J-Load has improved. Also, interestingly enough, Toomer mentions how in the last few years, when there were high expectations, the Giants...well, I'll just quote: So, maybe they'll do the work rather than just assume they'll be competitive, and finally get the job done this year.
  14. Like last year, I'm sure they'll get their timing down in training camp.
  15. I agree with you. Emmons is having no luck staying on the field with us, and when he is on the field, he's workmanlike and unspectacular. Arrington? Who knows how good he'll be, or how long he'll be able to play. I'm hoping for the best, though. Oddly enough, I think Pierce is going to help our interior line be better than what it is, just by how he calls the game.
  16. Eisen story Emmons, from article:“I mean I played off the ball a lot in Philly (where he played four seasons before coming to the Giants). Even though I was a SAM linebacker, we played a lot of off fronts or over fronts, where I was off the line. So it’s like I’m doing the same thing. It’s just on a full-time basis. “I don’t (have a preference). I just want to win. If we can get to the Super Bowl, I don’t care if they put me at noseguard.” Gotta love the attitude. The article is talking about the LB corp being the strength of the D at this point. I think Osi and Strahan might disagree. How about you?
  17. You don't fuck with the Elisha. You just don't do it.
  18. This is easily the least print-worthy quote I've ever seen.
  19. I hope he stays out of the NFL: better to be a little less rich, than a lot more crippled.
  20. It's not really a secret. Tiki's been very upfront about his training regemin. There's been articles about it all over the place. It's more telling about Westbrook that he needs to ask, rather than do the research himself. Maybe Buckhalter should join too, so that maybe he can see a regular season game this year.
  21. you have to look under TEs. Which, by the way, doesn't evaluate blocking ability at all. Is this like a fantasy football section? Because it has no basis in reality. Going by this, the Cowboys have the best offense in the NFC east, being top 10 in running back, TE, and WR.
