  1. Is that Opie and Anthony? I guess ripping off Howard Stern isn't enough anymore. Now they're ripping off Mike and the Mad Dog?
  2. That play by Cano, backpeddaling into the OF with the bases loaded in the 6th, was worthy of an "Oh, what a play by Cano!"? He later called it "A great play by Robinson Cano." It was actually a hair above a routine play. Not surprising, though, coming from George's lapdog.
  3. Link "I just learned that it's best to worry about yourself when it comes to things like this, and that's what I'm doing," Sheffield added. "I'm going to worry about me and when I get right, I'll let you know. That's the way it goes." "I'm just not going to go out there and play injured anymore," Sheffield said. "Like I said before: Been there, done that, not doing it again. It's just that simple. ... When it's right, I'll play. Until then, I'm not playing." How soon before the press or Yankee fans start insinuating that he's milking it because of the whole contract thing? I'm not saying that's what he's doing, but his comments sound just a little defiant. I'm just wondering if he'd be playing through it, or at least trying to, or if he would've made these comments, if they'd picked up the option.
  4. 9-12 year-olds. It's the "Little League" level (as opposed to "Minors" (younger) or "Junior League" (older)). I totally didn't want to do this, but now I'm into it. Nice feeling when you see your team execute the things you work on in practice. Some of the other coaches are toolboxes, too, so it's kinda fun to ruin their day.
  5. I didn't coach them last year, by the way. We tied tonight, 6-6. Kinda blows, a tie, but when you consider the fact that we were down 5-zip, it was an accomplishment. Junior hung in there- gave up 3 runs in the first (a couple of nervousness-related walks and some sloppy D), but settled down for the most part the rest of the way, striking out the side in the 6th (he's 1-0-1 on the year, two complete games). Freakin' dad from the other team was umping the bases, and allowed a kid of their's to takeoff waaaaaay early and steal 2nd & 3rd, leading to their 6th run, but we tied it up after that. We play the team that wins it all every year on Wed., but I'm pitching a kid who's never pitched before, so I'm basically conceding the game. Of course, I think we have a pretty good chance regardless.
  6. lol Yeah, actually they're selling t-shirts that say: Looks like Jesus Acts like Judas Throws like Mary
  7. 0 for 2 lifetime against him before last night. Don't know if I'd call that "owning him for years".
  8. Right back in it today. After all, they're facing the immortal Scott Kazmir, who, much like the immortal Ted Lilly, seems to own us while looking mediore at best against the rest of the league. Have no fear, this funk isn't going away at least until Crisp comes back, if at all. Too many holes in the lineup.
  9. Because Mo pitched two innings the night before, I'm sure. He figured, "See if Sturtz can get three outs here, but if he lets one of the first two guys on, I'm yanking him immediately."
  10. I do agree about the bunting thing, though. He does fall in love with it a little too much. You have the top of the order up with 1st and 2nd and nobody out. Damon was due, let him hit. In his defense, though, Jeter usually will find a way to get the run in from third, and that was all they needed.
  11. Didn't see the end of last night's game, but from the look of the box score you can hardly fault him for following standard baseball procedure. You bring your closer into a tie game from the ninth inning on at home. You don't want to give up a run without having ever brought in your best pitcher.
  12. Probably about three times as many times as it was actually warranted. Please don't ever use superlatives from Michael Kaye's mouth as proof of Yankee greatness. Not to say Jeter's not a great player, either.
  13. Not to beat a dead horse, but I was listening to Francesa and Russo today. Like them or hate them, they know their baseball, and Mike definitely knows his Yanks. Anyway, Russo said Matsui is a "terrible" outfielder and Francesa agreed, "terrible". He certainly hasn't done anything this year to dispell that notion.
  14. lol I wouldn't go that far, but they've definitely got their holes.
  15. Two more stellar plays (at least- I only saw parts of the games) for Hideki out in left this weekend in Minny.
  16. Another horrendous day at the plate...but a WIN!
  17. You've got your own problems there, Yankee boy.
  18. I said coming into the season that I was worried about our ability to score runs, but this is pathetic. I know Crisp and Nixon are out of the lineup, but Manny's gotta start picking up some of the slack. :explode:
  19. Careful. Criticizing moron #1 and moron #2 around here will get you accused of not being a loyal fan.
  20. Proving that even a blind squirrel finds a nut one in a while. Two more ks last night.
  21. I always thought you two would make a nice couple. On a similar note, I'm beginning to hate Matt Clement
  22. Your post is like a symphony to my ears, buddy. Could you be any more whiney about a topic as out-of-the-blue as this? Good to know you think the world of Paps, though. You're stacked in AA, huh?
