    Manny

link Lots of guys can play through this injury until the season ends, but the fact is he is hurt. As for DH, then you have to put Ortiz in the field, take out Youk or Lowell, etc. It's not really an option for them. Regardless, it doesn't much matter at this point.

    Manny

Yup, that's why he played two more games and four innings of a third before deciding he wanted to sulk. Makes a lot of sense. Anyway, he had an MRI yesterday on his knee. Last I checked, they don't do MRIs to evaluate cramps, boy blunder. They did find out, however, that he's got tendinitis in his knee.
  3. It's an unwritten rule in baseball that you don't say it's good to be getting player x because he's better than the guy he's replacing. Johnny's just a nitwit. Of course, that's my fault.
  4. Gotta give him credit: He's always willing to open his mouth, no matter how bad he looks every time he does it. "We could have just sat back and been content, but knowing that you make the deals, you do feel good because you know that your team is going to be better," said Johnny Damon, who hit his 18th home run yesterday."The one thing I kept referring to is our team is going to be better. Instead of Bubba Crosby, you have Bobby Abreu. Or instead of Aaron Guiel, we have another righthanded bat, Craig Wilson [another trading deadline pickup]. The tough part is you make friendships, relationships, with the other guys, but the guys we've added are better players."
  5. lol Nice anger with the all-caps, Plow. I take it you're watching the Yanks right now, and drunk.
  6. Yup, that's pretty much how it works- especially when the other team pulls off the most colossal choke in the history of sport.
  7. Better use some powerful equipment on those eyes, so you can see through to his brain. That's the only place where ARod has a problem.
  8. Any list that doesn't have the Tigers, at this point in the season, at the top is retarded. That being said: 1. Tigers 2. White Sox 3. Yankees 4. Mets 5. Twins, even without Liriano
  9. Not 2004. Remember that year, the year of the unparalleled choke? Try using a little common sense, Plow. I didn't say anything until Yankee fans, who just lost two of three to a team they figure to see again, and Met fans, who lead the Minor League and played miserably against the Majors, piped up. Make sense? I thought so. Okay, now you can go back to being a dimwit.
  10. Met fan, right? Enjoy your one "successful" (i.e. making the playoffs) season that you guys are entitled to every six years.
  11. Have your fun now, Yankee fans. This thread will be bumped back up immediately after ARod whiffs/pops up/grounds into a DP/throws a ball away to end yet another disappointing Yankee season.
  12. I'd say this is a big start for Randy Johnson and the Yanks tonight. Coming off a tough loss, on the road, against a good team, you really wanna see him come up big tonight if you're a Yankee fan, just to know that he still has it in him. You agree, Yankee fans?
  13. Yeah, I know as Yankee fans you guys don't wanna jump the gun or count your chickens, because I'd be the same way, but this team is done. My only hope was that Epstein would get some pitching help or the kids would improve as the season progressed, and neither has happened. Definitely not looking forward to next weekend. :brooding:
  14. Season's over. Our bullpen blows, there's no way around it. We can get all the Big Papi heroics and the greatest defense in the world, but if there isn't a single freakin' guy in the bullpen you can trust (other than Papelbon- usually), you're shit. Starting pitching is in shambles, too. This team is going nowhere. The end.
  15. Yup. Instead, they should've picked up...?
  16. Didn't want to let this thread sink too far, since Torre is such a moron for keeping this team afloat when they had no business being competetive this year.
  17. I like listening to Mad Dog and all, but he was waaaay off base on this whole rant. First he was trying to get Cashman to say that it's obvious Sheffield's option won't be picked up for next year now (which I'm not even convinced is true). What GM in their right mind would come out and say that about an important player in the heat of the pennant race? Russo was basically saying Cashman had no credibility because he wouldn't say this. As for Farnsworth, from an outsider's perspective I'd have to say he really hasn't been bad at all for the Yanks. He had a little bit of a rough start, but he's been pretty good for much of the year. Russo just has some weird thing against him and can't let it go. It also seems that he has a real bug up his ass about Cashman. I mean, I appreciate honest radio and engaging questions, but he crosses the line a lot into abusive, childish behavior.
  18. The kid's got a knack for pitching into and out of trouble. He's not afraid to throw any of his pitches at any time, and can throw strikes when he needs them most. If he can just get rid of the "getting into trouble" part and extend himself into the sixth and seventh, he could be the real deal.
  19. As an impartial fan, I have to say that LoDuca was acting more out of frustration than anything else. What ARod did was pretty tame. Manny does a lot worse than that, but nobody calls him on it because other players generally like Manny. Guys are so turned off by ARod, for whatever reason, that they look for an excuse to call him out.
  20. Nevermind- 9-4 Yanks now. The Mets blow.
  21. If they have a half a ball among them, they'll come back and win this game. If not, they can't be taken seriously.
  22. I don't think anything, except that saying "if you don't count such-and-such" is silly.
