  1. Oh, did he play in this series? I didn't notice.
  2. Yeah, but you can't even really blame the pitching. Sure, Johnson and Moose came up small. But your offense was putrid. And don't tell me about the media. Every Yankee fan I know, including most every one here, thought the trophy was in the bag.
  3. Looks like your playoffs are over, bud. See you around. In light of Sheff and Matsui's performances in the playoffs, this was a genius analogy, Mongo.
  4. This will be starting next year, obviously. Right?
  5. See, the difference is, we knew we were in trouble this year. You guys, on the other hand, thought you were gonna steamroll to a title when the playoffs started, and you had no business believing that.
  6. At least you were right about the "that's all she wrote" part.
  7. Best offense of all time. Jesus, when are you guys gonna learn?
  8. ...or you can just call it by its real name: Jumping on the Bandwagon.
  9. I was gonna say this isn't the real Mongo, until I saw the botched attempt to liven up your post at the end ("color=#000099"). That's so you, dude.
  10. I don't think it's so much rest as just not wanting to have somebody get hurt in a meaningless game.
  11. You know George's philosophy- win at all costs. Gotta think ownership and management knew what was going on the whole time. Almost looks like they went out of their way to find guys who had a competetive edge over the competition. Kinda tarnishes the whole history of the organization if you really think about it.
  12. Yeah, but let's just stick to the ones that we have actual evidence on for now. Seems like most of those are Yankees. Shame, shame.
  13. ...you guys have been cheating for a loooong time now. So how many of those championships do we put asterisks next to? Eh, the guy's probably just a liar, anyway.
  14. Tiki slipped up. He admitted he was wrong. It was aone time thing. This is a pattern with Shockey. The guy doesn't learn from his mistakes. I'd rather not go over the laundry list of his fuck-ups because it's too depressing. Let's just say the guy is an immature asshole and leave it at that.
  15. TO required a lot of attention from defenses, too. Why do you think the Eagles cut him loose? Because no matter how much he provides on the field (and no, I'm not even beginning to compare the talent levels of TO and Shockey), he detracts from it twofold in the locker room. Cancer.
  16. In a word- no. I really don't care about any of that crap. He's an embarrassment. The rest of the league laughs at us and our Pro Bowler. How many times has he come up huge for us when we needed it? I can think of one- the '02 finale against the Eagles. That's it. I can also think of at least a dozen times when the guy has looked like a total fool on the field, too. Face it, those numbers and pro bowl appearances are a mirage. If you can honestly tell me the guy has lived up to even close to his potential, go for it.
  17. Jeremy Shockey is an idiot. I feel like I'm allowed to say that, though, because I've been saying it since day 1. I felt back then like he was an embarrassment to the organization and would never become a great ballplayer until he grew up. Well, it's obvious he's not gonna grow up. He's Albert Belle. Allen Iverson. How many more years are we on the hook for with this guy? I think it's a lot, so it'll be awhile before we can start rebuilding our reputation as a champion, rather than the smack-talking underachievers we've become. Unless we just cut him loose and take a hit. The guy is a freakin' immature, daddy-needing, backward-ass hick. He's a total cancer.
  18. I was being sarcastic with the "wonder why that is" line. I don't buy the "fish out of water at 3B" thing. He was fine there last year, almost gold glove caliber. I don't think he'd be having any easier a time at SS this year. His head's not in the game. Anyway, I would hope a team like the Angels would be smart enough to realize they have the upper hand in any trade involving ARod. I seriously doubt they'd give up Weaver and half their bullpen for him. These rumors tend to take on a life of their own once they get started.
  19. Yeah, we'll see whose trade value is higher this offseason. That is if the Sox want to trade Manny. We already know how the Yanks feel about ARod. Wonder why that is.
  20. ...or maybe he's talking about Manny, since that makes a lot more sense than a guy who's universally hated by everyone who comes in contact with him.
  21. The thought goes through his head "once in a while", yet he didn't actually swing in that situation for four years? Again, just too much of a coincidence. Why can't you guys just admit he's not perfect? I mean, I've criticized every Red Sox player at one time or another when it was deserved. Just because you love the team doesn't mean you have to put the blinders on. Yankee fans in particular seem to be unable to admit it when a guy on their team does or says anything out of line.
  22. With all due respect, I can't buy that. It's not like the guy hardly ever swings on 3-0. He never does it. It's just too much of a coincidence that it happened to be in what he figured would be his last AB with a long hitting streak on the line. You gotta think Jeter longs to break that record, because if anybody could do it he could. By the way, I don't blame the guy at all for swinging. Just don't act like you're above it. Baseball is a statistics game. Like blunatic said, those guys are obsessed with their stats- all of them.
  23. I understand that. But why hadn't he looked for a good fastball to hit on any of his previous 115 3-0 counts?
