About Ralph Ralph Vacchiano Giants being conscientious shoppers Mar 16, 2007 There are only a handful of teams that have not signed a single free agent from another team, and so far the Giants are one of them. And while they're not likely to get completely shut out in Jerry Reese's first offseason as GM, don't expect to be excited when they finally find someone to sign. After making his big splash with the trade for Reuben Droughns, Reese seems content to scour the market for role players and fill-ins. The "stars" that were all the market are all gone (and overpaid) and the Giants didn't get involved in the bidding at all. That wasn't the plan. They had hoped to land a few players. They eyed some cornerbacks, safeties, a left tackle and a few running backs, but the market just went crazy. So now they're reduced to wooing the likes of backup guard Matt Lehr and restricted free agent fullback Vonta Leach. Vonta Leach may not be sexy, but he can help the Giants in 2007. (AP) There may be a few surprise cuts later in the offseason, and the Giants can always find a few ways to increase their cap room if they need to, but for the most part those are the types of names you can expect to hear about between now and June, when their training camp roster is set. And that's not all bad. First, remember, if you're evaluating the Giants' offseason so far, including the re-signing of center Shaun O'Hara (at a relative bargain price) and don't discount the impact of the trade for Droughns. As for the rest, well, just remember, that in 2000 no one was overly excited when the Giants signed left tackle Lomas Brown and center Dusty Zeigler, but they turned out to be the anchors of a Super Bowl offensive line. The point is, a guy like Lehr or Leach or whomever the Giants sign won't create headlines now, but they might fill an important role on the team later. The Giants have plenty of stars on their team already; they don't necessarily need more.
  2. Giants Offer Fullback Vonta Leach a Contract By Dan Benton | March 16th, 2007 Print | E-mail Vonta Leach - Fannation.com The Giants have offered restricted free agent fullback Vonta Leach a contract. The Houston Texans will now have the chance to match the Giants offer or allow Leach to go to New York — should he sign the Giants offer sheet. No contract details have been released. Should the Texans refuse an offer sheet to Leach, the Giants would not owe any compensation because Leach entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent. Leach (6′0, 250 lbs.) is a powerful, run blocking fullback. He seems to fit the mold of what the Giants are currently trying to do; create a dominating rush offense. Not only is he a good blocker, he can also catch a pass or two if need be. I personally think this would be a good fit for what the Giants are trying to do. While I am a huge Jim Finn fan, the Giants need someone to get out ahead and “pave the way.” Other Notes: The Giants have raised their ticket prices … again.
  3. or you could do a play off system with the #1 school's from each confrence (I dont know if that would be more than 8 games, it depends on if you wnated to go with just the main confences i guess) all other schools could do the bowl thing.
  4. Here it is March Madness and the games are in full swing and there is not talk in this section. Feb 10th was The last post in this section and was from a board, drunk woman. 6. Typical for Kid of this century , impatient . and all that stuff you said Reese should of done last year. Well If I am not mistaken E.A. was the GM last year not Reese. And I am happy you are not the Giants GM this year as well. apparently you dont see the big picture . we have the draft and 2 cut days coming up . We have some good players that where on the practice team that will step up this year. 1 Anthony Mix WR 2 James Sims RB to name a couple . I can't wait till NFLE starts o see some potential players no matter what Team they are allocated to . dont think like a Madden head .............
  7. SHUT THE FUCK UP this is getting so fucking old you sound just like them ... WHAAAA!!!
  8. with the many hole we have to fill and if Lb's Timmons, Paul .P or s/cb's Landy or Revis or Nelson are not avaliblle. I feel we trade down and gain more needy picks to fill our holes.
  9. Ralph V.....link is the real Filip Bondy a member of Sportswrath?
  10. Then maybe you should subscribe to sirius radio .
  11. we also lost Vishante Shancio (sp) and Chad Morton so that makes 6 holes to fill plus numerous spots to up grade in . not that VS and CM did anything stellar or left a massive void yet they are still holes that need to be filled. Unless Moss does the Kick returning then its 5 holes
  12. His Father Ray "BOOM BOOM " Mancini will speak at the presentation
  13. 1: what did he do to have to sit out the first two games? 2: can he catch? 3: can he get off the line?

  15. ERRRRR....I mean 3/13/07 News Anything But Giant By Hazem Kiswani | March 13th, 2007 Print | E-mail Cato June - SI.com / CNN.net I know you guys are dying for anything about this team, but every piece of information I have gotten has been either something you guys won’t want to hear or insignificant. Either way, I have compiled all the information I could since my last update, and this is what I have. - Any trade talks that may have been investigated by Reese with the Bears and/or Broncos are dead at this point. The Bears are baffled over the Briggs situation. They don’t want to let him go without getting a king’s ransom in return and he refuses to even consider playing for Chicago again, but no one in the league is willing to meet their demands, let alone Reese and the Giants. On the Dre Bly front, it seems that Denver will be keeping the corner, unless Washington is willing to pay the price for him, which has been deemed too high for the Giants. - The Giants and Eagles are getting themselves into a heated battle over Kevin Curtis. They may both end up disappointed though, as the Vikings seem like the most likely destination for the receiver. The advantage the Giants have, ironically, is that Curtis really likes Tom Coughlin and what he heard from him in his visit to New York. - According to Mike Garafalo, the Giants brought in offensive lineman Corey Hulsey for a visit. This would be strictly a depth move. - The Giants are still interested in Cato June, contrary to some reports, but are far from high on him. The only way you will see him in blue next year is if he comes at a very affordable price. If they get some competition from other teams, the chances of him becoming a Giant are very slim. But if the interest continues to be this anemic, the Giants will be able to add him to the roster at a low price. - Nothing new on Ian Scott, just more and more contradictory information from different people. - And this I just have to add in, Brandon Jacobs will surprise a lot of doubters next year. He is already at work improving his game, and continues to promise big things. He’s also working with Tiki Barber’s strength and conditioning coach to improve his balance and stamina. His determination and confidence is very convincing, and I expect a lot from him next year. I’ll keep you posted if I hear anything else.
