  1. Good work putting this thread together. I'm anxious to see how Maine does following his best game in the bigs.
  2. I will never understand how a guy with that resume gets treated in Yankee Stadium, the way Mel Rojas used to at Shea.
  3. Games that feature good pitching are more enjoyable on TV, because you can actually see the pitch and it's movement, but that's just my opinion and I'm a moron.
  4. Oswalt vs. Floyd !!! I wish Pedro was pitching this game. You just know he'd throw it tight to Oswalt when he came to bat for his history of beaning Floyd.
  5. I was in the picnic area. First time there, it's a great view of the game. I hope the new stadium has more seats in the outfield.
  6. That would put us one notch above what Yankee fans are... Yankee fans.
  7. In recent years the Mets were the laughingstock of their division and the NL. That's where we have come from, so maybe Yankee fans like you should realize it doesn't matter if the rest of the division is under .500, we are on our way to possibly winning it for the first time since 1988. You'd be excited too. The Mets have one of the better records in the entire league, and we are not about to feel sorry for it when just a few years ago, we were the Nationals.
  8. Bullpen shut the Reds down today, and that Majewski is really gonna turn your bullpen around. How bad did you miss Kearns today???
  9. 49% to 42% is really not that big of a difference. You might poll another 1000 people and get the exact opposite result, although I'd say those numbers are probably pretty accurate. Of course there are more Yankee fans, everyone knows that, but I wouldn't call it a Yankee town. It's a baseball town, and there is much love for both teams. And I'm sure if the Mets have had success for the last decade and the Yankees were struggling, the results would be different. I read in today's Daily News that the same poll was taken on Opening Day 2005 and respondents were 35% in favor of the Mets. That means that polls are really that random and the results can vary that much, or fans are really that fickle depending on team success.
  10. His stuff looks pretty nasty at times. His fastball has alot of movement especially down. He was hit hard early but mostly balls hit on the ground in the infield, except those few that almost ripped his head off. :yikes: I like what I see so far, here's to seeing more of the big fella.
  11. lol, I thought I was the only one who found that odd. How about Pelfrey blowing that 96 mph fastball past him for steeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerike 3!!!!!
  12. You are right, and this is why I never counted Atlanta out. However, I can't see this Met team allowing themselves to lose the division. Atlanta is hot right now, but they wont be scoring 10+ runs the rest of the way.
  13. Phil Mushnick of the NY Post is constantly bashing ESPN, with good reason.
  14. ESPN is a joke. Did you see when they were promoting the ESPY'S and they showed celebrities filing in and Stuart Scott would say,"We've been watching the celebrities pack it in while you've been watching the game", or something to that affect? IT WASN'T LIVE!!! That show was taped last Saturday. I read in the paper a few days before that Saturday that David Wright was supposed to attend but couldn't because the Mets were playing a double header that day against the Marlins.
  15. NO!!!! Livan is a bum. I'd rather the Mets make a deal for Vazquez or Garcia (White Sox). I wouldn't want them to get Abreu either, especially if it will cost us some pitching. The Mets lead the NL in runs scored, and Abreu is not needed, especially at his price. PITCHING PITCHING PITCHING!
  16. Maybe Rowand is a little gun shy right now considering he smashed his face on the centerfield wall in Philly earlier this season.
  17. Phillies are still in the hunt for the wild card, as is mostly every team in the league.
  18. It doesn't matter. The players couldn't care less and it's really stupid that this game decides home field for the WS. If it really mattered, Garner would have had Andruw Jones and Scott Rolen in the game defensively at the end. Players would be doing "take out slides" in DP situations. Soriano might have tried to jar the ball lose from Rodriguez on that close play at the plate. etc. etc. etc. Home field advantage should go to the team with the better record. It's the fair way to do it, and it might ensure teams to continue to play full out at the end of the season even if they've clinched a berth, knowing every game in the regular season counts.
  19. Apparently the White Sox are shopping Vazquez and Garcia for some bullpen help. I say we trade Heilman for one of these guys and hope Owens or Maine can do the job. Not a bad starting rotation in a playoff series with a healthy Pedro, Glavine, Vazquez/Garcia. We'd still have Trachsel and El Duque to start, and the Duke was crucial for the White Sox in relief last season, so he's shown he can do the job in the pen if needed.
  20. The people of the media are the biggest bandwagon hoppers in existence. Just wait, if the Yankees sweep the Sox, they will crown them baseball's best team and say they are ready to steamroll their way into the postseason.
  21. I sure do . Thanks again for all your help.
  22. Did you watch the game? It's an exhibition. If it really mattered, Brad Penny wouldn't have pitched only two innings. Neither would Kenny Rogers have. If it mattered, Soriano might have tried to take out Rodriguez on that play at the plate. And I'm sure that if it mattered, Beltran wouldn't have been trying to steal third with 2 outs in the 9th inning.
  23. But it doesn't matter to the players, and that's why they don't go hard to second base in DP situations. The home field ruling is a terrible rule. Home field should go to the team with the better record. Does Bud Selig really believe that Scott Kazmir is happy now that the White Sox will have home field advantage again?
  24. Does it matter? It's an exhibition game. I'm pretty sure if the players really felt like it meant something, they would try to bust up double plays instead of just veering off into the outfield when running to second base.
  25. And the Eagles really turned their season around last year when he got suspended.
