  1. When all is said and done, the Yankees just might be the only team in their division over .500. (Boston is falling apart, and Toronto is barely above .500) I'd love to see what Yankee fans would have to say then. No doubt in my mind they will all have some ridiculous spin to put on the whole "weak division" debate. It's going to happen, Yankee fans. Wear a bib and pour salt on your feet because you just might soon be putting them in your mouths.
  2. I wonder what his opinion is on this tidbit of information. The Colorado Rockies went 11-4 against the AL.
  3. Yankees were just 10-8 against NL. How do you explain the talent level now? Oh, and there is a 3 game difference bewteen the Yanks and Mets in the loss column, not 1.
  4. People talk about the Kazmir deal being one of the worst trades ever. Pavano has to be one of the worst free agent signings ever. In any sport. In any country. In any EA Sports video game. Anywhere.
  5. Anaheim can still win the West. By saying "everyone" I guess that means Matsui and Sheffield? Jeter stills hits in a lineup that includes Damon, Cano, Giambi, A-Rod, Posada, Williams, and now Abreu. Everyone of those guys is, or was, an All Star. Jeter is NOT carrying the Yankees.
  6. You mean the Red Sox, the only team that looked better than the Mets at the time. Oh, they just happened to be in the middle of a double digit winning streak when we faced them. 3-3 against the Yankees. (Somehow Yankee fans forgot about the series at Shea, and pretend they only played that game that ended 16-7.) 2-1 against the Blue Jays. 1-2 against the Orioles, but even Yankee fans aren't dirty enough to say the O's are better than the Mets. Bring on the AL. The Mets have a lineup as deep as any AL team when Floyd comes back, and I'd love nothing more than to see them celebrating in The Dump That Ruth Took.
  7. A-Rod won the MVP in 2003 playing for a last place team. That was ridiculous. I guess the voters were just kissing his new 250 million dollar ass. I don't think Jeter deserves it. He has a high average.... There are plenty of players on contending teams with much better all around numbers, playing in lineups alot less stacked than the Yankees. How come Vlad isn't mentioned here?
  8. I was thinking about this today. 100 wins would be nice. Magic number to 100 wins: 20
  9. I love your hatred for A-Rod. Keep it up, pal.
  10. Wright is slumping, no big deal, and he is kind of streaky when it comes to home runs. I remember at one point in the season I was thinking, "Damn he only has 5." Before I knew it, it was the All-Star break and he had 20. Let him slump now, and get hot in October!!!
  11. Sorry, but I wasn't wetting diapers in the 80s. Maybe late 70s, but I grew out of them probably right around 78.
  12. I don't know. Most fans are biased is probably why. I've admitted that Melky has been better, but I also feel it's not the time to compare them, and it's not fair to judge Milledge on a month's worth of major league playing time.
  13. Bashing Yankee "fans" has nothing to do with the Mets lack of success vs. the Yankees storied past. It's the way some Yankee "fans" feel they are superior because of it. Some, not all, Yankee "fans" are arrogant, brash, rude, and alot of times pretty ignorant about baseball. I know more about the Yankees than most Yankee "fans" I know. The ones that get bashed are the ones that say things like, "Mets suck because the Yankees have 26 WS titles". I can guarantee you everyone who posts on this message board has heard similar comments many times when talking baseball with a Yankee "fan". It usually comes out when that Yankee "fan" has nothing intelligent to say. I am not knocking real Yankee fans out there. It's the Yankee "fans" I can't stand.
  14. I have 3 words to describe Beltran. EMM VEE PEE
  15. I hear you. I still think it's not a fair comparison, but at this point, Cabrera is the better player. As far as the batting average point you made, Milledge is 4 hits shy of batting .270, with his 130 at bats to this point. One hot streak and he can get over .300 in a heartbeat. That's how little he's played. I'm sure if he has a week where he goes 15 for 25 and raises his average above .290 you wouldn't be saying he's better than Melky.
  16. Because the voters are in love with power numbers, and Jeter doesn't have them. Boston is STILL a playoff contender, despite the way the Yankees wiped their asses with them, so I'd be very surprised if Ortiz stays on his current pace and doesn't win it.
  17. Maybe not, but add to the equation the fact that Milledge is a highly touted prospect getting his first taste of the majors, clearly trying to make an impression and it's not surprising that he's struggled. If he was hitting 2nd in front of Beltran, he would most definitely see better pitches to hit. Maybe he would still be hitting .240, but you have to admit it would be alot easier to hit in that spot than to hit in front of an automatic out.
  18. Ok. Who, in the Yankee lineup, is most likely to NOT get pitched around to get to a perceived "weaker" hitter? As good as Cabrera has been, he definitely is benefitting from hitting in a lineup that has an All Star (or former All Star) at every position. There is nothing wrong with that. He still has to do his job and he's done it very well. I don't even really like Milledge. I think he's going to be a trouble maker. I might be wrong, only time will tell. I just don't think you can really compare the two at this point. Milledge is in a totally different situation, and Randolph seems to like to test young players by putting them in the 8 hole so they can "earn their chops" as he puts it. He did it with David Wright last season. Like it or not, there is a huge difference between hitting 8th in the NL than hitting even 9th in the AL with the lineup the Yankees have. Right now, Melky LOOKS better, but that doesn't necessarily mean he is the better player. Only time will give us that answer. It's way too early for this argument now.
  19. Let's say they both hit 8th. Can you honestly say hitting 8th in the Yankee lineup is as challenging as hitting in front of Steve Trachsel? He gets nothing to hit, and that can only make an eager 21 year old fresh from the minors look worse than he actually is.
  20. I told you guys not to worry. I am taking full credit for healing Glavine. If Blue Jeans can get credit for Milledge's performance because he talked to Chavez the other day, then I am taking credit for Glavine's good news. Show me some love. Come to think of it, I'd like an appreciation thread in my honor. Thanks.
