  1. Yes Mauer is also a serious contender. I had no idea he was having that good of a season until I looked at his stats yesterday. Jeter is a longshot. He just doesn't have the numbers to win it.
  2. This really isn't a fair argument considering Melky hits in a lineup loaded with All Stars and Milledge is 21 year old hitting in front of the pitcher. As far as the fielding goes, he's had trouble, but didn't Cabrera look lost when he was first called up?
  3. I think Jeter deserves serious consideration, but like I said, the voters almost always go with the power guy. If Ortiz winds up hitting 50+ HR and drives in 140+ RBI, he will certainly win it, especially if the Sox hang around in the Wild Card race.
  4. Because Manny is a quitter. Impressive series for the Yanks. I never expected them to sweep a 5 games series. That's just ridiculous. They did it in different ways. Beating the shit out them, coming back to steal one, winning a pitcher's duel. They really took the life out of them.
  5. I once told Kenny Anderson to sign with the Knicks. He never did, so it's my fault the Knicks never won a championship in the 90s. Sorry guys.
  6. Keep an eye on that kid. He was pretty good in 2004, and maybe he can regain that form. If he can, then that deal will be a steal for the Mets. Same goes for the Benson trade if Maine proves to be the real deal.
  7. Do not worry Met fans. Be positive. Glavine will have the tests done and he will be fine. Why am I so positive, you ask? Because......... YA GOTTA BELIEVE!!!!!!!!!!
  8. OK maybe you're right, but only because Milledge has shown signs the last few games.
  9. If the fact that he's a DH really mattered THAT MUCH, he wouldn't even have sniffed the award last year. He finished second to A-Rod who had similar numbers and MAYBE was given the benefit of being a position player. It could have went either way last year and the DH argument made sense only because it was that close. It's not close this year, unless you look at Hafner's numbers.
  10. Jeter is great, but he's not the MVP. How can you argue against these numbers? .284, 43 HR, 116 RBI. I know the Yankees are in first and Jeter has been a big part of that, but voters always look at numbers to decide the winner. Ortiz clearly has the numbers they want to see, and he's won a few games for them in dramatic fashion already this season.
  11. Milledge had probably his best day in the "bigs". Good job Blue Jeans.
  12. I would have liked it if the Mets had claimed Preston Wilson off waivers, but..........
  13. Piazza does it again!!! Okay Mike, we love ya, now please stop.
  14. Awesome! I'm so happy he homered and the fans wanted a curtain call. Piazza was nothing but classy during his time here. I hope he hits another one tonight. As long as the Mets are winning 12-1 at that point. Here's to you, Mike!!! Thanks for memories!! :worshippy:
  15. All we need is a healthy Pedro, Glavine on the right track and El Duque's knack for coming up big in the postseason. A healthy Floyd would be nice too.
  16. I think that was the best throw in Wright's young career. He's made most of his errors on throws and sometimes it looks like he doesn't throw as hard as some other 3rd basemen. That ball looked like it was shot out of a cannon, on a rope straight to Delgado's glove. Great play all around. The way he snagged it, jumped to his feet and fired across the infield, it was all done in what seemed like a split second. Best defensive play he's made, and he's made quite a few eye openers.
  17. I was 10 years old and watching some of that old footage brings back great memories. I remember watching Teufel make that error in game 1 and being crushed when the Mets lost. I remember Carter hitting those 2 home runs over the green monster in game 4. The parachute!!! Who could forget that? That was awesome! Game 6 is the greatest game ever in Mets history!! People will say the Mets were lucky and won on an error, but the game was already tied and it wasn't the final game anyway, so they can kiss my orange and blue ass. I remember watching the parade on tv and Mookie Wilson said they were going to win it again in '87, '88, '89 ... I believed him. The greatest play in that World Series was Mookie Wilson avoiding the wild pitch that allowed the tying run to score in game 6. He did everything in his power to jump out of the way, actually jumping over the ball. If that ball hits him, the run doesn't score and maybe the Mets don't win it. Nah.... they would have just found another way.
  18. Enjoy the game dude. I'm going Tuesday night. The return of Mike Piazza. Should be fun.
  19. I don't think there are too many millionaires living in Queens.
  20. Think so. He has pitched the 8th inning 2 nights in a row and tonight will be the 3rd.
  21. MVP was the best baseball video game ever. Too bad EA lost the rights to MLB. I tried 2K6 and that other one, "the show". They both suck.
